Looks Like It's All About this RAW Reunion...Whatever That Means...
A Merry Monday to You
Enthusiasts!
Did the weekend treat
you well? All I can say, there’s never
enough of it. As for recent news, well,
we all know that tonight lends itself to exhibition as we have the “RAW Reunion”. All sorts of stars, past and present but mostly past, will strut through tonight to hype up the WWE and Summer Slam to
a lesser extent but word is that this is to get some publicity for the WWE. Gotta get eyes on these shows!
As many of you may
also know, Variety dropped an article
on the dismal state of the WWE and it’s mostly a bunch of information any
weekly-watching fan already knows. So, it’s
agreed. Something needs to be done to revamp the product. What isn’t so clear
is how exactly to do that. The general
consensus is that better storylines and relevant action are what’s needed and I
agree but here’s where it gets tricky.
When you look at comment threads on these matters, we all appear to want
better content but what constitutes “better content” varies amongst us. Many hope for yesteryear and in that case I feel a lot
of what worked then probably wouldn’t fly now.
And if the lamentation doesn’t concern that, some fanboy or girl but
mostly boys, offer up some semi-coherent idea that probably only really suits
her/his taste and doesn’t apply to the wrestling public in general. My point is that the bulk of "We the Audience" doesn’t appear to know what he or she is talking about. Kinda hard to cater to that sort of
demographic. So, does this mean we’re
doomed? They’ll just continue to produce
mediocre product as we trash it online?
Well, maybe if we keep watching but the declining numbers mean they have
to do something. This is why I tend to suggest
more open-ended solutions. People like
to have fun. If they can make these
shows fun, there shouldn’t be any real problem.
We’ll accept it just because we have a great time.
That’s kinda what everyone is really complaining about. More often than not, it’s just stupid. It makes no sense and leaves wrestlers looking ridiculous. How are superstars supposed to get made that way? At the basis of these shows we should be having a good time. For whatever reason, we have gathered to watch men and women come together to have staged fights while we cheer and jeer at how much they make or don't make us believe it all. There has to be some reason to do this. As you can see, written down, it’s kinda hard to support this interest but we all know how much fun a show can be. They need to get back to these basic entertainment tenets. There’s a reason people show up and tune in. For whatever reason we enjoy it but in recent years, that’s just been hard to do. For those of us who’ve remained, it’s been a guilty pleasure that’s been harder and harder to validate. There is hope with Paul Heyman and Eric Bischoff stepping in. RAW has already been a lot more fun and the rumors about Bischoff dragging his feet smells a bit like it could become part of the dynamic. I’m calling it a work, right here. I think that will become part of the “new politics”. Heyman shows up to work, where’s that slacker Bischoff? And so on and so forth.

Remember Enthusiasts, no one wants to net a loss. They see
they have to change things up. Let’s see
what they come up with. That’s all we
have to do at this point. Show them
whether it lands or not. They are paying
attention to our feedback. That’s what
you do when you want something to work.
Don’t underestimate them. They
know they need to make this work otherwise, they’re out of jobs. We just find something else to watch. Don’t forget the true dynamic here. We have a lot of say but at the same time, we
should avoid trolling and saying shit sucks just to say shit sucks. This stuff is still hit or miss. Not sure that's ever going to change so, stay vocal when it’s a miss and even more so
when it isn’t. I know it may seem corny
but in these inclusive more civilized times, it’s better to think we can do this
together as opposed to fold our arms and wait to be pleased. Let’s appreciate the 2-way street. These people risk life and limb for our
entertainment, the least we can do is be encouraging. This isn’t as hard as a fix as people make it
seem. The general rule for them should
be if it doesn’t make you laugh, look cool or catch your interest then it probably
shouldn’t be in the show. If they don’t
want to see it, why would we? That’s
usually where you start when it comes to performances. We’ll see if anything good comes from tonight. Funny tweets get retweeted and
as for Likes/Favorites. If the wit
cannot be denied, I have no choice but to both “like” and retweet it for the
world to see!
See You in a Bit,
