RAW Says Go Home! Clash at the Castle Is Going to Be a Long Trip...

Image
How’s It Going, Enthusiasts?   Well, there isn’t a whole lot going on at the moment. Kinda vibing more on House of the Dragon at the moment but there’s always time for wrasslin’. Let’s see what’s going on.   The tidbit that did catch my attention comes courtesy of Drew McIntyre. He’s getting quite the push as we approach Clash at the Castle. He “bested” Brock Lesnar could he “best” Roman Reigns? Sure, but will that entertain us? It could and proof comes in McIntyre’s take on Karrion Kross’ current gimmick with the hourglass. McIntyre doesn’t get it. Hourglasses don’t go “Tick-Tock”… so what’s the point? I like the Straight-Man approach. This one just doesn’t get the “joke”. I was a little confused by it too mainly because the WWE Universe tends not to follow pro-wrestling methods.   I understand that Triple H wants to make this more about wrestling but the general appeal of WWE is its general appeal. I don’t mind a creative gimmick if it makes sense. I know Kross is goin

A Happy Friday to You, Enthusiasts!   Well, AEW has been throwing a bunch of pebbles in the pond and causing all sorts of ripples in the wrestling world. Let’s chat a little bit about it before heading over to the WWE Universe.   So, the big news is that AEW unified their titles and quite quickly under Jon Moxley.   He faced CM Punk in a match that I can basically call a bait and switch. Moxley and Punk were sold as the main event but they actually went on second to last and the match played out as an   injury induced squash. It started off strong and looked to be a good intense one but then Punk got “injured” and Mox took over from there.   Speculations are flying about what this could implicate. Is this the beginning of a Heel Turn for Punk? Was he cleared for competition too soon? Does he plan to return to WWE now that Triple H is in charge? Well, we can safely assume that whatever the plan is, it was decided and is in effect. We could ponder more about what’s going on i

RAW Just Want's to Touch Up a Few Things...

How Goes It, Enthusiasts? Doing well? So, there are a few things going on in the wrestling world but they’re pretty much a holdover from last week. Let’s see if we got any more information to work with.   We left off with the CM Punk question and it continues. Is he really disgruntled or is it just a work to build up a feud with Hangman Page? Can’t say. The talk makes it seem as if it could be either or. Perhaps it started as real beef and mutated into a work. Who knows. I’m not familiar enough with the situation or Page to make a statement. All I can really say is that I’d say it’s a work before anything else.   If Punk understands the concept of Kayfabe, then anything he says on TV would ultimately be a work unless he’s conducting an interview outside of the wrestling world. Kayfabe protects wrestlers if implemented correctly and I would think Punk is savvy enough to keep the truth obscured for his own good. Though Punk has the rep. of being temperamental, I think he rathe

SmackDown Tries to Conjure of Some Drama of Its Own...

Happy Friday, Enthusiasts!   How is everything? Well, there are quite a few rumors circulating. I’m not going to talk about all of them, but I think we have enough to have a decent conversation. Let’s get to it, shall we.   So, AEW is racking up drama points as there is a lot of talk of backstage tensions amongst the top stars. I don’t know enough to get into all that, but I did check out the Jon Moxley and CM Punk confrontation that went down on this week’s Dynamite . The main takeaways I got from it is that Mox has to prepare when it comes to showdowns with Punk. It’s clear that Punk knows how to handle the mic. Mox is no slouch, but Punk definitely knows what he’s going to say. None of that was on the fly. He may not fully script it out, but he definitely hits his bullet points. Mox was on the fly and it showed. That works in some instances but the mic is one of Punk’s strengths and that was on full display this week.   I also felt that the display could support my theor

When's Clash at the Castle? RAW Will Remind Us...

A Good Monday to You, Enthusiasts!   How’s every little thing? Well, there isn’t that much to talk about but there are some things. Enough to have a steady conversation at least so, let’s get into it.   So, let’s start off with some non-WWE but related stuff. There’s a lot of talk about Jon Moxley/Dean Ambrose on the Social Media, Twitter to be specific, and the question that’s coming up is why have a lot of fans have decided that they prefer Ambrose over Mox. Some feel it’s because of a bias in favor of WWE but I think it’s more the content. I’ve said that Mox is masochistic. I feel that AEW encourages Mox’s lesser inclinations especially when it comes to the blood and Hardcore stuff.   I don’t like what it implies. I like the action but I don’t need people hurting themselves for my pleasure. I am not sadistic. I just like a rip-roaring good time. Sometimes that means getting rowdy and a little nuts but it shouldn’t be anything a band-aid and/or a cold compress couldn’t fi

SmackDown Will Try Some Old Members on for Size...

Happy Friday, Enthusiasts!   How are you doing this evening? Well, it’s not the most exciting Friday night but it’s another one nonetheless. There isn’t too much of interest going on in the wrestling world but I got a few things I can talk about.   To start, it’s no surprise that Ric Flair is contemplating another “Last Match” after the “success” of his recent one. I caught some glimpses of it and I couldn’t sit through a full match. I just don’t need an old man doing that sort of thing for anyone’s entertainment. Go sit down. Relax. That’s fine enough for me. He’s done enough. Charlotte Flair should start thinking of healthier alternatives to keep him busy. And I really don’t get the point of the blood. He’s 510 years old. Anything he does out there is overkill. I don’t know if he’d be any good at commentary but I would rather him do anything else but get back into the ring to compete.   In WWE news, there’s been a lot of speculation about Austin Theory. Word is there was

How Goes It, Enthusiasts?   Well, I hope. So, there’s not a whole lot going on that caught my interest, but I have some things to chat about so let me not waste any time.   The big news right now is that John Laurinaitis has been dismissed though, I have not seen a formal release statement. Word is it was kept quiet due to the unsavory nature of the termination, seeing how he too was involved with hush money payouts and the like. As is customary in these sorts of dealings, someone has to take the fall so the company can appear repentant and respectable. Mr. Vince McMahon showed himself the door and Laurinaitis was ushered out the back it would seem.   I missed the bulk of Laurinaitis’ career so, he won’t exactly be missed by me, but this is how this sort of thing goes. From what I heard, he’s a bit of relic because he represented traditional jock sensibility which isn’t exactly embraced in this day and age. He likes the chicks hot and the dudes big, cool and muscular so, al

SmackDown Does What It Does and Finalizes Summer Slam Fallout...

Image
Happy Friday, Enthusiasts!   So, there’s not much that has grabbed my attention this week, meaning there’s not much for me to talk about. It’s gonna be a short post so, let me get into it.   We have the Summer Slam Fallout Show before us and after seeing what Triple H did with RAW , I’m curious. I didn’t mind RAW at all. A lot of what H put into motion needed to be done to a certain degree. Before, the content was way too random and didn’t carry any continuity. I don’t mind if shows are stand-alones but that’s not exactly what was going on. It was just stuff slapped together with a vague train of thought. This week, RAW had a discernable beginning, middle and end. They also gave a lot of attention to the women and mid-card. The action was respectable. The only thing that was kinda lame was the Houston, TX crowd. They were pretty stereotypical and that is something WWE should consider.   Not everyone may be open to Triple H’s progressive approach so, WWE will have to take wh

Summer Slam Is Over - Now for the Fallout...

What’s Up, Enthusiasts?   Well, Summer Slam I is filed away and it served as a fair segue to the new Triple H. Era. It wasn’t bad but like I said in the previous post, the real obstacle to overcome was boredom. Can’t expect the same thing to land the same second time around. We know H is aware, the question is what does he intend to do about it.   Summer Slam was better than last year’s, that’s for sure and for the most part it was a solid show. Logan Paul did way better than anyone expected but still came off a little awkward afterward so, I still think it’s best for him to start as a deluded Heel and transition to a Face. Pat McAfee and Baron Corbin underperformed in my opinion but it’s hard to say why. Maybe they’re too good of friends offscreen? Just felt they should have let loose a bit more with it.   As for the main event, same diff but they definitely let Brock Lesnar have fun with it. I was hoping for a more competitive match but the tractor stunts had to happen so
