SmackDown Fallout - FastLane 2023

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts? Everything all right? Can’t say that I have much to complain about. There are few things but…they should get resolved shortly. In the meantime, we have a few things to chat about. Let’s get into it. So, for what it’s worth, WWE considered taking CM Punk back and then passed on it, according to recent reports which I find a little surprising. So much so, that I wouldn’t be surprised if this was some disinformation.  I say this because the best way to get the most out of Punk returning to the WWE fray is that it’s a surprise. At this rate, everyone would know before it happened. You saw how Edge going over to AEW worked. No one was surprised. Everyone was saying it was gonna happen ‘cause WWE didn’t have much for him. So, might as well jump ship. When it comes to Punk, making this a “big deal” is what’s key so, if they don’t bring him back for Survivor Series, they may keep him in wait for WrestleMania, maybe the Royal Rumble but I think they want us to move

FastLane 2023 - Matches of Interest

How’s Everything Going, Enthusiasts? Well I hope. So, this is a very interesting time in the WWE Universe. It’s like for the first time in a long time they’ve understood the assignment. What could have and has been very whatever in the past suddenly has some bite and excitement. There’s so much to consider but I’ll touch on like, half of it. I was debating over whether to close or open with the Ladies and I figured I should lead off. The Ladies have really solidified themselves in recent years so, we don’t really have to worry about a good match. It will be more a matter of whether we care. That sounds, crass in the sense that it’s not that these aren’t talented people but it’s such a given, there aren’t any real stakes. What will matter is how fun/entertaining the match is.  There’s a lot of room to have fun with an inherent rivalry in the works being the preeminent Japanese Ladies on the roster. There’s also news of Kairi Sane returning to WWE as well. Could that be a shocker lying

SmackDown Says Go Home but Stay Close...

Happy Friday, Enthusiasts! How’s everything going? It’s a hot one in SoCal. I’m sitting here melting, but that doesn’t keep me from blogging. You can call me “devoted” 😉 In any case, there are few things to chat about today. So, let’s get into it. We’ll start in the Realm of AEW as we have now the “Copeland Era” yet, it may not be quite the dynasty some may have hoped. I heard that Edge/Adam Copeland’s debut on Dynamite wasn’t very well-rated but that may have been due to a streaming glitch. Word is that the TV Listing was showing at 4pm in some areas leading to some confusion and perhaps lost viewers.  Regardless, I felt compelled to support Copeland so I took a gander via On Demand services. Well, AEW definitely has its charm yet I still feel more satisfied with WWE fare. However, there were some bright spots. Rey Fenix certainly proved himself and a former NXT/WWE-er in Toni Storm is embracing her inner hysterics as she tries on a Sunset Boulevard -like gimmick.  I appreciate S

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts? Can’t say I have all that much to report. Weekend was pretty chill. Though we do have something to talk about, there's not all that much in total so let’s just get into it. So, it’s official. Edge/Adam Copeland is now All Elite. He has made the jump to AEW and seems to be excited about the change. We’ll see if this works out for him. I’m not sure what to expect for him since I get the feeling he’ll be more appreciated behind the scenes than in the ring but who knows. I guess it all depends on how he holds up. His debut match is slated for Oct. 10 th against Luchasaurus. That could seem fun or ridiculous depending on your viewpoint. This is why I’m not quite sure how to feel but I do hope that it makes Uncle Edge happy. What seems clear is that we generally wish Edge well in his new endeavors and let’s just hope there’s a nice exit clause in his contract and that WWE is willing to take him back should things not work out. I’ll just leave it there. As we

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts? Hanging in there? Seems like you ought to. The future is looking bright in the Wrestling World. There are a few things we can chat about so let’s get right to it, shall we? Well, it’s looking like the Jade Cargill rumors have some weight. Word is that her contract has expired with AEW and was not renewed. Reports are that she has been removed from their active roster and that she has reported to the WWE Performance Center. Go fig. I suppose we’ll see what they do with her.  It’s interesting that this happens upon news that Bianca Belair has scheduled a hiatus. She has some peripheral projects that she wants to devote some time to and given the nature of the WWE schedule, I can see why she would like to take some time to focus.  Commenters suggest that this may be a time she starts to plan for the future family-wise as well. One of her projects just so happens to be a children’s book. The clock is ticking, I suppose. Let’s hope she makes the most of the br

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts? Enjoying life? Well, that’s the hope anyway. There’s some stuff to talk about but I’ll only touch on a few things. I like to keep things casual, you know? The first bit of news is a bit of a shocker to me but I can understand the logic. Word is that Jade Cargill of AEW is aiming to make the leap to WWE. Personally, I would have never considered this. She has a great look but she seems like an AEW product. I mean, she is but that’s kinda what I’m getting at. She seems more suited for that format. I’m not sure how she’ll fit in with WWE.  Regardless, many commenters feel her style may suit them more. She’s no wrestler so that leaves Sports Entertainment and there I see what people are getting at. She’s gotten better but needs a lot of work in my opinion so, we’ll see if this comes to pass.  I kinda see this as a feint, to be honest. I know a lot of people feel that after Nick Khan gave the CM Punk coming to WWE question the best corporate, “Thanks, but no tha

Happy Sunday, Enthusiasts!   May your Fastlane be merry and bright. So, this PPV may be more interesting than I thought. SmackDown had some twists and turns that I didn’t think it had in it so, that was promising. This may not be one of the best WrestleMania seasons but it is proving to be more compelling than usual.   That being said, I will stick to my usual PPV format by just commenting on the matches I find the most engaging. We’ll see who surprises later on tonight.   So, the first match I think may suddenly change people’s minds is Apollo Crews vs. Big E. I wasn’t sure what to think with Crews doing the Wakanda thing but after last night, it could be an intelligent strategy if carried out correctly. What I would do with it, is in the event Crews won, he’d drop the accent to prove that it was all an act just to trigger Big E. E, a known “Florida Man” did as they do and imploded on SmackDown . He destroyed Crews, of course but that could be the point. Florida Men often

A Good Monday to You, Enthusiasts.   Does it find you well? Give yourself some slack, daylight savings time and all. So, what’s going on in the wrestling world? Not that much, or rather no more than the usual but a few things stick out.   First, it appears The Miz is making a bid to be taken more seriously. There are photos of him looking leaner and meaner than usual circulating. I suppose he didn’t like how people reacted to him wearing the title. Well, working out is one thing, gaining skill is another. Though he is fine on the mic, most would say his wrestling is mediocre at best. He knows how to do what he does, I won’t challenge that but I can’t say I’ve ever been amazed by his matches. Let’s take John Morrison in comparison. Though he goes for the flash, he has demonstrated that he can have an engaging match. Coupled with the acrobatics, if you had to choose, it’s Morrison every time. So, if you ask me, getting jacked isn’t the key to The Miz’s success. Coming up with som

Happy Monday, Enthusiasts!   I hope it finds you well. So, after I posted last Friday I saw an article saying that Christian’s contract negotiations fell through. If I had seen that beforehand, I would have circled Christian as my choice for the new AEW, potential WWE “Hall of Famer”. Now, I don’t know about this move for Christian. Not that I have anything against him but I don’t know what AEW plans to do with him. At least with WWE, you play out the story with Edge but in AEW is he just another jaded, former WWE superstar looking for the proverbial “Brass Ring” to chase? If you ask me, no matter how you cut it, Christian ends up in the same place, doing short spots in the mid-card time slot. They say he’s going to come through and be the hardest worker but will that actually happen? For guys like Big Show, I get it. WWE is played out for them. They’ve done it all. Worn just about every hat. They might as well try AEW on for size. Christian has the case that he still has some thin

A Good Sunday to You, Enthusiasts! Tonight we feast upon FastLane and to be honest, I’m not exactly excited about it but that doesn’t mean there’s no chance for good content.   I’m not going to rundown every match but there are 4 that could be interesting.   This is another sort of “Blank Slate” sort of PPV so, they’re going to have to go out there and make the most of it.   Though we’re heading into WrestleMania, this doesn’t necessarily have to serve as set-up, everything after does so this is more a stand-alone PPV.   All the wrestlers have to do is stay loose and hit their spots, so to speak.   Perform well and our interest is held, it’s as simple as that. As for the matches, I’m thinking that the newcomers may be the ones who make the biggest splash.   Aleister Black and Ricochet will be teaming up to take on The Revival and Chad Gable & Bobby Roode in a Triple Threat for the Tag Team Title and with their theatrical flair, this may be the match of the evening.   Yet,

This Is Why SmackDown Just Stays in the FastLane

A Good Tuesday to You, Enthusiasts! So, I would say RAW was at least engaging.   It wasn’t bad.   It wasn’t the smoothest either but it wasn’t bad.   Decent for a Go-Home Show.   We learn that Michael Ché and Colin Jost are going to be our guest commentators for WrestleMania and their contribution last night was just a little off but I think it’s something they could acclimate to.   ‘Cause really, they pretty much do the same thing without the wrestling. Besides that, the Shield did in fact reunite and the speculation continues to run rampant as to whether Dean Ambrose will still leave after WrestleMania.   Well, I think if that happens or not depends more on what Creative comes up with.   If they come up with fun content that makes some sort of sense, I think they have a shot at keeping him.   If they dance him around doing, for lack of a better term, “stupid shit” he probably won’t stick around.   Most would do same if they were serious.   So, we’ll see if they prance him aroun
