Okay, That Was That. SmackDown Leads Us into Elimination Chamber...

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts? Who caught the Super Showdown?   Well, it felt a little phoned in if you ask me but it wasn’t all bad.   I think Humberto Carrillo and Angel Garza snuck in and took match of the night as everyone else struggled to establish some sort of relevance.   That’s just kind of the state of affairs.   I don’t fault the performers here.   It’s clear that the vision is hazy for this product currently so, nights like Super Showdown tend to expose what’s working and what’s not. Whether anyone likes it or not, we have to accept that Brock Lesnar certainly established himself and that may have been the one clear thing about the night.   Ricochet didn’t seem qualified to be in the ring with him and that was my point my last post.   I see he’s a talented athlete but fighter?   Different animal.   Here, perhaps they can lead into an Aleister Black confrontation?   I hope that’s one of the eventual endgames.   And that doesn’t mean Ricochet can’t one day learn how

A Good Thursday to You, Enthusiasts. So, the Super Showdown III should be underway by now and I can’t say that I’m all that excited.   You know, being a work day and all, I can’t really indulge until later but that doesn’t mean that I’m not curious about some matches.   I won’t bother with speculation, it’s too much of an exhibition but here’s my 2¢ on some of the more interesting match ups. First of all, I find it interesting that Goldberg has got the fire back in his eyes.   Word is that this year’s Royal Rumble lit him up and now he’s raring to go.   So, my question becomes why set him up with The Fiend?   Now, there may be the school of thought that this may help sell The Fiend, mainly because Goldberg isn’t buying him.   This could create an interesting dynamic because those like me, who don’t really get this Fiend gimmick, will probably side with Goldberg by default which makes for a good sense of competition against the fans who are all about The Fiend.   That means a

Happy Monday, Enthusiasts! Hope it’s a decent start to the week for you.   I certainly have more things I could complain about but this week’s start is not one of them.   So, before heading off to Saudi Arabia, the WWE pit stops in Canada for tonight’s RAW .    There’s a few things readily advertised.   Randy Orton will continue to apologize for his deplorable heel-itude.   Brock Lesnar is stalking the backstage halls and Becky Lynch ramps up the beef with Shayna Baszler.   Could be a fun night. What we should be looking for is how RAW is going to lead us into this Super Showdown.   I won’t be watching live this time around.   I’ll catch it when I get home from work.   Hopefully it isn’t too long.   Do have to get up the next morning but given the loose viewership this event may have, the question is will we have much lead-up?    I view these Showdowns as exhibitions for the most part because of this.   With a SmackDown to produce on the following Friday and some of the ro

What’s Up, Enthusiasts! Enjoy the short week, if that was your lot?    I hope so.   I certainly made the most of it.   As for the WWE goings-on, believe it or not, this is the Go-Home SmackDown show for the Super Showdown.   They have before them the task of starting to whip up some true interest for this extravaganza and that’s not exactly impossible.   I find it interesting that what’s advertised concerns the Ladies, to be honest.   They have been the strongest part of the show recently but we know they’re not going to Saudi Arabia.   So, what does that mean? Well, let me be fair, there is 1 Ladies match but ultimately that is not the draw, though notable given.  Yet, let's not forget we do have Goldberg on the docket as well.   This means that more than likely we’ll get some response from The Fiend.   Will it land? Perhaps with half the crowd but for me, I’d be surprised.   But, at the same time, Goldberg did surprise me by selling his bit.   Guess it’s The Fiend’s t

Happy Presidents’ Day, Enthusiasts! Are you relaxing?   I would highly suggest it.   Anyway, we have about 10 days before this Super Showdown and it appears that the WWE is plotting a loose course.     It’s not entirely clear how it will all come to pass but we’re starting to get a rough idea.   SmackDown did its job and kept pace last week by keeping things relatively light for Valentine’s Day so RAW now has to continue to demonstrate it is the top show since it decided to re-establish itself there.   I’m not upset at this recalibration but  RAW now has to face up to the responsibility.   I’m sure SmackDown wouldn’t mind taking that sort of distinction back.     Anyway, before we can contemplate that reacquisition.     We have to see if RAW drops the ball and so far, it seems like they’re getting the hang of quarterbacking.   Tonight, we have to look forward to a “sermon” from Seth Rollins and it looks like Humberto “The Kid” Carrillo will pair with Rusev to take on the

Happy Valentine’s Day, Enthusiasts! Regardless of your status, I hope it’s a splendid 1 for you.   Have some fun one way or another.   As for tonight’s SmackDown, looks like we have some playful hijinks awaiting us with Otis finally getting a “date” with Mandy Rose.   This has been done tastefully so far, hopefully they can keep it that way because we all know how far downhill this sort of thing can go.   The WWE is not known for its taste.   Quite the contrary actually but, seeing how there’s competition and awareness in the mix now, they’re being forced to up their game. Surprisingly enough, RAW has been holding up its side of the proverbial bargain and so SmackDown is in the “keep up” position by default.   That may be why the Ladies are leading what’s floating around for tonight’s show.   Outside of the Otis & Mandy Rose story, Bayley will have a box with Carmella for the Women’s Title.   I have to say, ole ‘Mella has earned her keep.   She may be about a buck-fiftee

How Goes It, Enthusiasts? This Monday treating you right?  Well, hopefully it’s about to get better. So, for a little SmackDown recap, I have to say that I have 2 surprises to touch on.  Apparently, we were dis-informed or simply got it wrong as contrary to the popular rumors going around, The Fiend will not be facing Roman Reigns at the Super Showdown III but Goldberg will of all people.  And on top of that, Goldberg sold his side of the match.  That dropped my jaw more than anything else.  Guy’s actually up for it.  I’m not expecting this to go well or smoothly but if Mr. Goldberg can pull it off, I’ll certainly tip my hat.  Yet, I’m expecting Goldberg to go down to a Mandible Claw just ‘cause he’s 107.  That’s what I’m calling the “geriatric treatment” this time around. The second surprise comes in who Roman Reigns will be facing, since it’s not The Fiend, he gets Baron Corbin again but in a Steel Cage Match.  Now, the WWE may be trolling a bit here because the social m

Like, any at all 😉 Happy Friday, Enthusiasts! I hope it is a good one for you because I am done!   I’m just worn out.   Ain’t as young as I used to be.   Done been spent by the week.   Well, I’m not going to bore you with all that.   There’s actually some buzz fluttering about the WWE Universe at the moment.   Everyone’s doing the financial analysis thing and the WWE appears to be coming up short.   This isn’t exactly surprising.   Though the content has been better than in previous years and even with nailing the Royal Rumble, in my opinion, a lot of the content continues to be hit or miss.   The Fiend is a primary example.   So, this may be the “beginning”.   We’re going to see quite a bit of trial and error until a new stride is discovered.   I say, bring it!   It’s about time, really.   An overhaul has been overdue and now they have the solid numbers to back it up.    That’s how situations like this go.   It’s just like a crime has to be committed before you call the poli

Greetings Enthusiasts! How is this Monday going for you?   It’s windy and cold in my neck of the woods, after a warm weekend.   Not uncommon for Southern California in the winter.   Before we get into RAW let us just touch a little bit on SmackDown .  Many may have felt we were made to witness the dragging out of a long played out feud but to me, I feel it was more bringing closure to a matter.   We did have little resolution from the “Dog Food Incident” and payback came full circle last Friday.   As I joked on the Twitters, it was quite clear to be me that they used chili for the most part.   They may have tossed in a can or 2 of actual dog food for some continuity but it looked like a bunch of canned chili to me.   I suppose that’s the smell Baron Corbin could live with.   I wouldn’t be surprised if it takes a while to get the dog food smell out.   My only note I have on this segment was that at the beginning of the night, Corbin called our representatives of the Bloodline
