RAW Inaugurates the Wrestling Modern Age!

Image
A Merry Monday to You, Enthusiasts! It’s the dawn of a new era as RAW opens for the first time in 3 years without SmackDown to directly follow.  SmackDown’s inaugural episode is set to be raucous on Friday as The Rock confirms his appearance and I hear The Usos are set to return as well.  Since it’s a 20 th Anniversary show, expect it all to be mostly exhibition to start with some morsels to lead to Hell in a Cell.  I don’t think we’ll really get to SmackDown business until the following week.  This will also be quite an interesting week as AEW debuts on Wednesday to add some flavor to the new wrestling dynamic that lies before us.   The thing about a lot of this is that for me, the bulk of this will have to be watched on the flip because being on the West Coast and the cord cut, I get live showings of some of these shows so, I’ll be a little behind more often than not.  I’ll still post my blogs prior to RAW, SmackDown and PPVs but I’ll be commenting on the Twitters as my sche

How Goes It, Enthusiasts? Well, I hope.   So, we gather tonight to witness the final Tuesday night SmackDown and not only that; it’s also the final time SmackDown will be on the USA Network.   I don’t know what the change to FOX will bring but I can only hope the fresh injection gets some fresh air circulating.   I wouldn’t be surprised if the WWE is suffering from a minor bout of complacency in some regards.   Having to work with a new network may get some intriguing juices flowing.   I don’t know if they’ll plan a sort of blow out or something but this marks the end of an old guard and the rising of the new. Yet, before we get into that.   I’d like to touch on last night’s RAW just a bit.   As many of you probably saw, we got a good look at “The Fiend” and…a lot of the problems I was talking about arose.   Now, people still seem interested in this gimmick but for me, the cracks only widened.   Again, it’s just Bray Wyatt in a ghoulish mask.   I suppose it can work for Hal

Greetings Enthusiasts! Here we are again for RAW and I have to say the feeling is a bit bittersweet.   This is the final week where we have RAW and SmackDown back to back.   After this week, we will start the week with RAW and finish it with SmackDown and I am curious as to how that will play out.   I’m not sure that they’ll do a West Coast airing so, SmackDown may just be live, leaving those like me on the West Coast to catch that action on the flip.   I just hope they’re prepared for the ratings adjustment.   We’ll have to get caught up before the next RAW and at least once a month before the upcoming PPV.   Not sure how I feel about this just yet but I am prepared to alter how I post and poke fun.   Gotta do what you gotta do.   I’ll get it in somehow. In other news, we had the NXT debut on USA last Wednesday.   I didn’t know they were only going to show the 1 st hour but didn’t mind switching over to the WWE Network.   Helps me get more of my money’s worth.   Not s

Looks Like Smackdown Is Going to Have to Help Build this Cell...

Happy Tuesday to You, Enthusiasts! How are you doing this evening?   Well, I hope.   So, let’s get right to it, shall we.   RAW wasn’t the best but that may be more due to something that often gets in the WWE’s way: Reality.   That concept bursts more bubbles than we can count and the WWE Universe is apparently bumping into it now.     The example best showed itself in the Bray Wyatt segments.    One opened last night and it wasn’t bad but the premise had Wyatt interacting with a live Seth Rollins.   I know plenty of people love this gimmick but the transition from screen to real time was awkward at best and it’s hard not to roll your eyes sometimes because we are being asked to accept this “spooky” alter ego.   I’m not sure how I’m supposed to get the spooks with some guy in a Halloween mask.   Again, I rather have a beatdown. Then to close, I have to say I was delighted to see Dad (Kane) but for him to go down to The Fiend just gets me all riled up about how they never used

Champions Clashed! Now, RAW Has to Build this Cell to Have Some Hell In...

Greetings Enthusiasts! How are you feeling this Monday?   Didn’t play too hard over the weekend? Well, it’s all right if you did.   That’s why we use Monday to get back into the swing of things.   So, tonight on RAW we will witness the Fallout of Clash of Champions and potentially see some decisions reversed as rematches commence.   This is generally what we expect after a PPV.   All those who couldn’t or didn’t watch the show can now sit back and watch it all become mostly null and void.   We had a few title changes last night, one of which being Mr. Robert Roode and Dolph Ziggler earning the Tag Team titles.   Now, I don’t know where they are going with this since this is just a hodgepodge of a pairing.   I would assume the real tag-teamers may start a bit of ruckus due to the unfair nature of the match in general but this is how it goes in the WWE Universe so I’m not sure what kind of angle they plan to utilize from here.   That’s the main reason I picked them to lose.   Watch

Champions Will CLASH Tonight!!!!

A Merry End of Summer Sunday, Enthusiasts! As you all know, we will gather tonight and witness this month’s PPV, Clash of Champions.   This is a sort of bittersweet time as it basically marks the end of an era.   This week will debut NXT on the USA Network and this should be a far cry from when Main Event was televised. So, this PPV has to set a new tone in a way.   Personally, I wouldn’t have NXT and the WWE in direct competition with each other but to say there won’t be any comparison is na ï ve at best.   Both sides have to now hold the other to task, so to speak.   If the WWE is the example, then NXT should be at least just as good and conversely, the WWE can’t really allow itself to be shown up.   Ideally, this should work in a way where they keep each other on their toes.   When does that ever hurt? As for tonight’s action, they close the door on the past while opening another for the future and how they do that will be hard to say.   I’m not even going to attempt to sp

Happy Tuesday to You, Enthusiasts! I don’t know about you but things could certainly be worse in my corner.  So, last night was one of the finer Go-Home Shows I’ve seen in quite some time.  It was exactly what it should have been.  Though some people question the old tactics of bringing back Attitude Era veterans to inject some life and gain some ratings, it all makes sense when you think about it.  They have to look like a good investment to FOX so they have to up their game a bit and too original/new content could sour fans, they’re keeping with sure fire bets so they can get off on the right foot.  Wouldn’t you?  They’ll be time for experimentation, trust me.  The way things are going – not that they’re bad – they’ll have no choice but to implement some trial and error from time to time.  Right now, they’re just focusing on playing the right note. Speaking of right notes, of last night the most surprising to me was the Firefly Fun House segment.  I’ve voiced how I don’t re

A Good Monday to You, Enthusiasts! How’d the weekend treat you?   Fine, I hope.   And if not, let us hope that this week’s festivities brighten your mood.    So, we have Go-Home Show action for RAW this week as we get geared up for Clash of Champions.   The interesting question that I’ve seen floating around the social medias is whether Braun Strowman would make a good titleholder and I can’t say I’m opposed to it but the thing about a Braun Strowman is that he’s a “Monster Among Men”.   It’s kind of like having the big bully of the block run the neighborhood.   Not that he’s a bully per se, but he’s so formidable that it’s hard to say who would take it off of him.   With Rowan now making a push for some credibility, he could potentially challenge but what I’m really getting at is that the WWE could kinda handcuff themselves by making the whole thing too real.   Who can feasibly face these guys?   Would you buy a match up against the likes of a Ricochet or a Daniel Bryan?   Even

So, Does that Mean SmackDown Does the Actual Tweaking...

Probably (^_~) A Cool Tuesday to You, Enthusiasts! I’m not sure where you are, but where I am it’s hot!   So, I have to say that I kinda like this slow burn that RAW is experimenting with.   We advanced the King of the Ring tournament.   We get some intrigue as the RAW Semifinal becomes a Triple Threat with Baron Corbin now having to face Samoa Joe and Ricochet.   This gets interesting because there is no clear favorite.   Ricochet is crazy in the ring.   Corbin is a formidable opponent just due to the size of him and Samoa Joe is rigidly focused at the moment.   No matter what, it should be entertaining. Moreover, we have the SmackDown quarterfinals for tonight where we’ll see Elias face Mustafa Ali and Chad Gable gets a shot at Andrade.   I’m thinking it’s gonna be Elias and Andrade here.   Story-wise, Elias has Shane’s backing and Andrade is supposed to be dating Charlotte so, I don’t see Gable being that over to be considered a “must see” match but I’m not saying th

A Happy Labor Day to You, Enthusiasts! And for those whom this doesn’t apply, a good Monday to you!   So, we have to get back on this Clash of Champions / King of the Ring track and it looks like the WWE is on it.   It may be in response to AEW’s All Out PPV that was on this past weekend.   I hear Jericho has their title on his shoulder and this prompted Baron Corbin to voice his mild resentment at fans who have a problem with how the same thing is done in the WWE.   Well, I suppose the big difference is presentation.   In recent years, there has been a sort of “take and like it” kind of vibe to how the WWE presented its content.   If a good show is presented, We the Audience won’t resist it.   That has been the major difference between the WWE and anyone else of late.   We would get a good showing by chance not orchestration.   Now, with competition brewing, they’re starting to return to the basics and are starting to reincorporate common sense. Yet, it will take time to reesta
