SmackDown Leaves a Go Home Message Before Clash at the Castle...

What’s Going On, Enthusiasts?   Are you in a heatwave? Well, I live by the beach so, I don’t really feel I can complain too much. But it is hot. Summer showing up later and later each year. In any case, there are few tidbits we can talk about in the wrestling world. Let’s get into it, shall we?   So, let’s start in the “American League” with AEW. There’s talk about the roster being a bit disgruntled. There’s been a lot of rumors about tension in the AEW locker room and some of the malcontents are said to be Malakai/Aleister Black and Miro/Rusev. Well, these are just rumors so it’s hard to say how much merit comes with them, but I’ve made it clear that I am all for them to return to the WWE Universe. I can see Black still having a bad taste in his mouth but the truth of it is that WWE has the production values to make his gimmick work. It was working before he left and now that Triple H is in the driver’s seat, he can potentially pick up where he left off. Naturally, there would

Happy Friday, Enthusiasts!   How’s everything? Well, some news dropped today so, let’s get right into what’s buzzing around.   So, WWE decided to do their NXT releases this week and there are a few surprises. To be honest, I didn’t know who the bulk of them were but I did hear of Dakota Kai and Dexter Lumis along with Parker Boudreaux/Harland. Boudreaux was particularly hyped up ‘cause he was basically the next version of Brock Lesnar. Guess his charisma wasn’t reading.   Well, most are more surprised at Dakota Kai and I can’t really comment. I just know of her. I’m not very familiar with her work so, I’m not particularly gutted by this announcement and honestly, I feel most should view this more matter-of-factly. We all know WWE does their periodic releases. Given how they used to hoard talent it can be argued that this systematic trimming of it is a good thing. True, it’s always sad to hear of someone being let go but we all have to admit that it is a fact of life. We all

A Good Monday to You, Enthusiasts.   Did you enjoy Day 1? Strangely familiar, wasn’t it 😉 But that doesn’t mean it was bad. It oddly accounted for itself with the supposed positive COVID testing of Roman Reigns. The plan upended, WWE makes do. I find this suspect but I have no theory as for the “work” of a positive COVID test so, I will accept what I’m being told but I don’t think it’s the truth but that is just a hunch.   Doesn’t mean something didn’t come up but I don’t fully believe it’s COVID a mishap or tummy trouble maybe but I don’t think we’re being given full disclosure. Regardless, Day 1 was a respectable event. The Twitter was saying how WWE doesn’t intend to use the term “Pay-Per-View” anymore. We are now witnessing “Premiere Live Events”. I guess that’s more in-line with the times. We don’t exactly pay per view anymore. We either get the subscription or watch the YouTube upload the next day. Fair enough.   In any case, Day 1 was palatable, as I was getting to.

Say What You Will, Crown Jewel Worked. Now, Back to the Usual SmackDown Business...

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts?   So, who caught Crown Jewel? It wasn’t half bad, to be honest. And to be real honest 1 of the matches pleasantly surprised me and that left me a little shocked. I was expecting to cringe. Let’s break it down a bit before getting into Fallout action.   In one case, it looks like someone with access to WWE ears reads my blog because they took some time with Mansoor’s and Mustafa Ali’s match. I was proud of both of these gentlemen because the mild build prior led to a “meaningful” match between the 2 that allowed us to see them both more clearly as performers. Mansoor made it clear he’s here to work and so did Ali by being the good sport by playing the bad guy. WWE is wise not to play the same bullshit they do in the US by often making the hometown favorite lose. Yet, they didn’t just give it to him either and Ali got to be punk-ass and beat him down after. Welcome to the family, Mansoor! That’s how we do it in the WWE Universe. He’s main roster now

Fastlane Is on the Books, Now...WrestleMania...

A Good Monday to You, Enthusiasts.   So, who watched Fastlane? It wasn’t all bad but some it definitely left something to be desired. General consensus puts Daniel Bryan vs. Roman Reigns as match of the night with Edge taking the heel turn. Drew McIntyre and Sheamus get second place. It would have been my first if Sheamus got the win but hopefully he gets his due come Summer Slam.   The Fiend fans loved his return but you know me, Enthusiasts. My eyes rolled far back into my head. I’m never going to like this angle. And I’m being consistent because I never cared for The Undertaker’s spiel either. I’ll accept the outlandish when it’s properly established and The Fiend is just not. I’m not that big of a horror fan so I’ll always say let Wyatt draft the 90 min. script and have done. Randy Orton gets points for being a trooper. He’s making gallons of lemonade with this shit.   As for the match of the night, I agree with what the WWE Universe is saying for the most part.   I lik

How Are You Doing, Enthusiasts?   Glad the week’s is done? Yeah, me too. So, what’s going on in the wrestling world? Well, the biggest news appears to be Charly Caruso peace-ing out. Whether this is voluntary or not seems to be the real point of contention. Rumors are saying that she had been late to perform some roster interviews and just generally not the most professional recently. Well, that sounds like she got another gig to me but who knows. As we can see, WWE has already moved on with her replacement in Kevin Patrick so, I suppose that’s that.   Another interesting bit of news is how Kevin Owens isn’t feeling too confident about a having a place in WrestleMania this year. Well, he can’t fully complain because he got plenty of action in December which a lot of the roster, I’m sure, would have gladly taken. This is why WWE needs to focus on developing the WWE Universe. There’s no reason the likes of Kevin Owens should be sitting on the sidelines. What’s the point of the Cr

Hello Enthusiasts,   How’s everyone doing? Well, I hope. So, here we are in pre-Fastlane and pre-pre-WrestleMania No Man’s Land. Whatever shall fill the void? Other wrestling sites are beginning to catch-wise to WWE’s true failings. They have some mild pressure to come up with something that proves they're just not sitting around twirling pens and tapping laptops, hoping for ideas. Yet this isn’t exactly new so, let’s get into some of the other news floating around.   The biggest bit of news comes from 2 pseudo-infamous, former WWE wrestlers in the forms of Big Cass and Enzo Amore. I don’t know what they’re going by now but the surprise is that Cass is in good shape and looks like he’s ready to rock. The joke going around is that WWE should be around shortly now that he’s big and fit. I wouldn’t exactly expect that, though. Not that it couldn’t happen in the future, I expect that a lot of former WWE wrestlers may return in the near future, it’s just that there’s no place fo

A Good Friday to You, Enthusiasts!   How’s everyone doing? Well, there’s not much going on in the wrestling world, well no more than usual but there are few blips that caught my attention. Shall we chat about them?   The first one is more an indication of a long-standing problem in WWE. Word is that Bo Dallas, though still on the WWE Roster, is planning for his life after wrestling, seeing how he might as well anyway. He hasn’t really been on TV since 2019. Now, this isn’t really surprising because he was on the mid-card anyway but again, decent wrestlers are just being paid to sit at home. Tsk-tsk-tsk. What’s the point of a creative department if they aren’t creative? The simplest thing to do is keep him around until Bray Wyatt decides to reinstate the Wyatt Family. Dallas could be a right-hand man type. I know they probably wanted to stay away from that angle to give a Dallas a chance to develop on his own but since that’s only happening in real life, might as well go with th

A Merry Monday to You, Enthusiasts!   Did you catch the Super Bowl? Boring as all hell, wasn’t it? The Chiefs just got flat out schooled. We’ll see how that shapes this year’s season. As for the wrestling world, well, there are and aren’t things going on. We are at the beginning of WrestleMania 37 preparations and it’s hard to say what will hold up until show-time. So far, it appears that WWE is attempting to establish a sense of continuity. This is surprising because WWE seemed to pride itself on being completely random. Yet, with ridicule rampant and ratings falling they have to admit their flaws. It could be said that they are attempting to do something about these loose ends. Well, I would say it’s a case of better late than never.   On the other hand, we probably shouldn’t read too much into this. It could all prove to be red herrings. Christian’s return may or may not affect Edge’s title run. I think a primary method of WWE is sticking to whatever is the most popular. The

Happy Friday, Enthusiasts!   I hope you’re having a good one. Before we get into it with what’s going on in the wrestling world, I just wanted to take a moment to comment on Dad's (Kane’s) appearance during the Royal Rumble. It personified what I’ve been saying all along. I haven’t felt more vindicated about anything as long as I can remember. They use him all wrong. Let the man close out as the Director of Operations again and instead of jobbing for the kids, let him just kick their asses, you know for good reason 😉 He could reestablish a sort of Management presence that squashes whatever noise that the kids may work up. Now, we shouldn’t see him weekly. I like how Adam Pearce is handling the unofficial General Manager role but he’s the proverbial Good Cop here. When Dad gets involved, it’s all Bad Cop. It’s why I call him “Dad”.   It’s not to hear any grievance. It’s to stop someone from griping; shut some pissy kid up, you know whatever. You don’t want to see Dad. He stood

Monday Blessings to You, Enthusiasts.   I hope everyone is doing well. Well, it is the Go-Home week for the Royal Rumble and WWE drops a bomb with the WWE Network getting licensed to Peacock/NBC Universal. Now, currently, all I want to know is how this effects my WWE Network subscription. My circumstances have me living with internet only so, I already have subscription access to NBC through SlingTV so do I just log-on to Peacock with my WWE Network credentials or what? Or will it simply be easier to cancel the WWE Network and re-subscribe under Peacock? That sounds like that’s the cheaper route. I’ll see what they say. I haven’t received any notices from WWE Network yet about this transition but they have until mid-March to figure it out.   Beyond that, I can’t say much has caught my eye. We’ll see how RAW builds for the Royal Rumble. What's advertised is Drew McIntyre returning from quarantine to confront Goldberg and Asuka will face Alexa Bliss for the Women’s Title. I

Happy Friday, Enthusiasts!   How’s 2021 going for you so far? Personally, I can’t say I’m not enjoying myself but still, there are some things to be desired but, what else is new? Let’s get into what’s going on in the WWE Universe. That’s more interesting.   So, SmackDown has to follow up Randy Orton getting scorched by Alexis Bliss. Orton is cracking me up. He’s a lot more fun than I ever gave him credit for. Somehow, he’s selling this angle and hopefully having a great time with it. Now, I don’t buy this “seared cornea” or whatever they're saying his condition is but I do like how Orton is just leaning into becoming WWE’s public enemy #1. The thing is, if he’s going to continue down this ridiculous path, he has to make sure he knows it’s ridiculous. There should be humor with this angle mainly because it is so unbelievable. A tongue and cheek approach would signal to fans that WWE is playing with the idea of kayfabe. What a lot of fans dislike about the WWE Universe is t

A Good Monday to You, Enthusiasts.   I hope it finds you well. So, this Monday has some news for us, doesn’t it? Drew McIntyre has tested positive for the COVID and that throws everything up in the air for whatever was planned for the Royal Rumble. Times like this is indicative of the WWE Universe, ‘tis the caveat of live television. When something comes up, there’s a scramble. Yet, there’s an upside. Someone may get a chance to shine with this sudden opportunity.   Personally, I hope the call comes to Sheamus. He’s been slanging for years but was never really taken seriously. I think it’s time for him. He’s got the chops. He’s got the size. I’m all for it.   There’s a chance that McIntyre will be back for the Rumble, though. He only needs to quarantine for 14 days so technically he could make an appearance but now the question is what to do until then. Well, there’s a whole host of things but will it be any good? At the moment, I wouldn’t count WWE completely out. Both RAW an

A Good Monday to You, Enthusiasts.   I hope it finds you well. So, there are some rumblings in the world of wrestling. Let’s go over them, shall we?   The most interesting bit of news going around is that New Japan is looking to secure a new US and UK television deal. I’m not sure how much traction it will get but it’s interesting. I say this because the Japanese style is a lot different from what we’re used to in the West. Not sure the western palette will warm to it but it’s good to see what’s going on in the world so, hopefully it attracts the worldlier wrestling enthusiast. That’s why I would check in from time to time when it was on AXS TV. Yet, it is a different approach, similar to the difference with Lucha Libre. The backbone is wrestling but it’s just presented another way. They like to keep the action more believable so you won’t see as much flashiness. It’s more textbook wrestling. Check it out and see if you like it if you haven’t already. It’s not my bag but I resp

Happy New Year, Enthusiasts!   Here we are to inaugurate this year 2021. Given last year, most would say there’s nowhere else to go but up. Let’s hope this rings true. In meantime, let’s see what’s going on in the world of wrestling.   Well, it was emotional but AEW held a wonderful tribute episode for Brodie Lee/Luke Harper. Word is that WWE was gracious and chose to let AEW have first dibs on honoring him, since that’s the promotion he was with. It was very touching. Moments like this can be very catalytic. In a way, Mr. Lee could become a sort of martyr, though unintentional. How he touched everyone has caused a sort of sea change. That mixed with the impact of the pandemic could prompt people to rethink their lives. Seeing how he affected so many, I wouldn’t be surprised that his passing will change how many handle their careers and hold their professional interactions. No doubt it will all be for the better.   Though it is sad it took his passing to bring home the truth, t
