RAW - Money in the Bank Fallout (2023)

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts? For those in the United States, how’s the kinda 4-day weekend treating you? It’s an awkward position for the 4th of July but if anyone was planning ahead, they probably took today off. I don’t have that much going on but did have the option of working remotely today so, that’s something. But enough about me. Let’s break down Money in the Bank and get to tonight’s business. So, MITB was very solid this year. Anyone who had problems with it is probably a LA Knight fan or prone to complain. I had no problem with Damian Priest taking the contract. Not that I mind LA Knight it’s just he’s only started getting going and I’m not all that impressed with his ringwork. Priest, on the other hand, has been showing consistent progress so, I feel he earned it. Wouldn’t have minded a surprise, Shinsuke Nakamura win but the fact that it didn’t happen lends me to believe that they just don’t know what to do with him. His spoken English hasn’t really improved much though I’m

SmackDown Has Money in the Bank Fallout and Then Some...

How Are You Doing, Enthusiasts?   So, this is an odd day. I know most aren’t concerned but I lived for a short time in Japan so I feel I should speak a little on former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe’s assassination. I was in Japan before he took office but hearing about this is nothing short of shocking. I’m not sure what the shooter’s politics are but Abe was generally known as an “honest politician”. Some may question his openness to Donald Trump during his presidency but to me, that was more indication of his inherent diplomacy.   It’s a tragedy mainly because the former prime minister was shot. Japan is known for its strict gun laws, so this shooter was determined to do this. Word is the gun was homemade. From what I read, reports say that the shooter believes Abe was affiliated with some group but they did not indicate which. This comes off like mental illness and that’s what makes the act such a tragedy. You get the feeling it could have and probably should have been prevente

Happy Independence Day, US Enthusiasts!   This isn’t the most uplifting one but it’s still nice to commemorate anyway. The United States still has its plethora of problems but at least we’re working on it…one way or another. That’s why peacing out to the WWE Universe is preferable from time to time. Let’s see what’s going on.   So, the Money in the Bank PPV has come and went and to be honest, it was a solid show. I believe this is the first show I’ve seen that didn’t have a bad match. Many felt the Men’s Ladder Match could have been better but how that played out is more due to Management not execution. The WWE roster performed well Saturday night and should feel proud of themselves. They demonstrated the WWE Universe’s truth. There’s no lack of talent, just a lack of Vision.   General consensus is that The Usos and Street Profits had Match of the Night and I would have to agree. It’s no surprise really but theirs was the true display of skill and performance. Yet, as I sai

As Is Customary, RAW Will Have MITB Fallout...

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts?   Well, Money in the Bank came and went and you know what…it was a solid show. I would say all the matches worked except for the Women’s MITB match, which is a little disappointing because they tend to be the least wrong with WWE generally speaking.   I would say there’s a lot to contribute to this. The Women are subject to a lot more social scrutiny whether anyone likes it or not. Did you hear how the crowd soured any time Natalya or Tamina had a shot? Oi, that’s what I’m talking about. The crowd definitely wanted someone “cute” and “fresh” to win which are standards women are always subjected to. These have a basis in grander social issues that we can’t expect WWE to remedy. Besides that, what may be the problem is that the Ladies may be friendly in real time so it’s hard for them to cut loose come show time. This is where a Vision becomes necessary. I don’t doubt the talent but everyone needs to work on their motivations as characters. There was

"Big News" Digested. Back to this SmackDown Business...

A Good Friday to You, Enthusiasts. Well, Ms. Becky Lynch definitely did have some big news.   To be honest, didn’t see it coming.   I know that she was dating Seth Rollins but as I said when I found that out, I didn’t think it was that serious.   I don’t know…let me put it this way.     It seemed more to me that Lynch was enjoying dating and Rollins probably wanted to put a ring on it.   Don’t blame him.   Not sure he could do much better but I’m not sure Lynch was ready to hang it up just yet.   I have to say I’m on the, "this wasn’t quite exactly what she planned" bandwagon.   Hope she’s happy with the outcome anyway.   Life does tend to work out like that. In any case, back to the present and able-bodied of the WWE Universe.   Tonight's SmackDown  will proceed with the Fallout of Money in the Bank as Otis makes an appearance on MizTV.   And Charlotte will return to brag about picking on the newbies down in NXT.   Also, they’ll be a tournament to determine the new I

MITB Was Great Fun!...RAW, How Do You Expect to Keep the Partying Going?...

A Merry Monday, Enthusiasts! My goodness!   Money in the Bank was a lot of fun.   See what a little bit of polish can do.   This seems like a real wrestling establishment for like the first time in maybe ever.   I’ll always love the Attitude Era but you got to admit, it wasn’t great television.   It was great trash television…big difference.   MITB was the best bit of television the WWE has presented potentially, ever.   Yes, there were some goofy bits but that comes with this wacky universe.   It has its own sense of humor.   The cameos, for the most part, went over my head but what I enjoyed is that it looked like everyone who participated had a blast.   That’s the sort of thing that has to happen if we’re to get the best out of the roster.     It can’t feel too much like work.   That’s why some of us are so envious of the players.   We have to go to work for a living, they get to go have fun for our amusement.   Last night was a fine example of it.   I hope they can keep this up w

Hello Enthusiasts, Is it a good Tuesday for you?   It’s one of the better ones for me, actually.   So, let’s get to it.   RAW , for all my pessimism, was actually quite fun last night.   I had a great time with it and more importantly, it seemed like the roster did too.   I think that has been one of the things missing, in all honesty.   They’ve been treating it more like work when it’s supposed to be a good time.   I won’t blame anybody.   I’m sure they weren’t sure of their direction if rumors are true that they could be overruled anyway at a moment’s notice.  Nevertheless, it looks like they’re loosening up out there and that’s nothing but an improvement. In any case, we have to discuss the new 24/7 Title.   Yes, they could have done more to create a more tasteful belt but who knows how much time they had to work on this.   I think the concept is great.   I think this will allow for a lot of fun and give a lot of those who feel like they’re just warming the bench some airti

A Merry Monday to You, Enthusiasts! Well, it may not be so merry for some of you.   Personally, I wasn’t upset with the surprise of Brock Lesnar winning Money in the Bank.   It was somewhat expected, actually.   Naturally, I was like most of you and expected it to be in the form of Bray Wyatt but with news of his baby being born the day before and JoJo (WWE Announcer) possibly having trouble with the birth, I didn’t think he’d be present.   More pressing matters to attend to.   Now, this makes sense for what they’re planning for the Super ShowDown in Saudi Arabia so, I’m expecting ratings to drop a bit until after that event.   No one is really praising this “surprise” win for Lesnar so the WWE have put themselves in a somewhat precarious position.   It’s clear that they’re angling for the Saudi Arabian event right now but with the negative stateside sentiments against that Kingdom at present, this may be a tough time to watch.   Expect the WWE to go back to old tactics that n

Keeps the ship afloat even when no one’s watching! Good Evening, Enthusiasts! So, the big news that dropped today is Big Cass’ release.   Now, I’ve heard the rumors but them being rumors in an industry drenched in its own concept of Kayfabe, it’s hard to believe anything that you hear and when you do, there’s no guarantee it’s true.   That’s why I’m going to be honest and state that I have no idea what’s going on here.    The best I can gather, just as a spectator, is that Cass just wasn’t landing.   I saw what they were trying to do…he just wasn’t executing well.   He’s an athlete it would seem, not really a “performer” and we all know that in the WWE you need to perform above all else.    It’s too bad but if it wasn’t working out, it wasn’t working out.   Looks like there’s an opening for a 7-footer on the roster if you know of anyone. As for tonight, SmackDown doesn’t have to do much clean-up but it appears that it wouldn’t be appreciated at present.   Ratings have been

Money's In the Bank. Now, It's Back to Getting RAW...

How Goes It, Enthusiasts? Did you like Money in the Bank?   Well, there have been better PPVs but I would say it went off cleanly.   Didn’t see Alexa Bliss cashing in night of but I have to say it worked.   Kudos to Nia Jax as well because she sold the shit out of her role.   I especially liked how she was cussing Bliss out after the cash in.     That’s how it’s done, people!   You gotta lie to us.   She threw Ronda Rousey around and Rousey, did her best to make it look like a real-ass fight!    I’m sure it wasn’t too hard, just default to any match she’s had.   It was fun!   I would say the only downside is no guess work.   Part of the fun of MITB is wondering when someone’s gonna drop it.   The ladies are out of the fun until next year.   We’ll have to see what the Braun Strowman does with it. Speculation is naturally focused on Brock Lesnar but personally…I’m not sure if that match ever happens.   I know Lesnar does what he’s paid to do but I feel that Strowman isn’t “big”

Is Someone Gonna Put the SmackDown on this MITB...

Someone should 😉 Good Evening, Enthusiasts! Well, was it just me or was RAW more interesting than MITB?  Looks like I’m on the same page with someone.  Well, as we contemplate what was the inevitable dissolution of Enzo & Big Cass we come to the SmackDown rebuttal.  Well, hopefully it will entail some sort of Womens MITB rematch due to the heinous abduction of the prize by male hands.  I’ll keep my grumbling down if they find a way to make this angle engaging.  I get that the WWE tends to instigate its fans, I get that it goes with the territory but again if not properly applied, one tends to lose the audience.  Let’s not have another House of Horrors on our hands, shall we. In the meantime, we await John Cena’s return…that should be interesting given a lot seems to have gone down in his absence.  With him coming up as a “free agent”, that allows him to show up anywhere at anytime which could work.  I wouldn’t say use this to turn Cena heel ‘cause that’s always up for

MITB Made Me Feel RAW...

Greetings, Enthusiasts! So, I hope that WWE Creative has some extensive plans in the works because this year’s Money in the Bank PPV appeared to miss a few marks unless that was the plan in which case, I’ll keep my bitching to a minimum.   I’m sure the most irksome moment was the Women’s MITB Ladder Match that was secured with male interference by Ellsworth in Carmella’s favor.   I can see that this was done to purposely irritate but at the same time, it kind of illegitimatized the whole “Women’s Movement” in the WWE.   The chick who wins the contract only does so by a male cheating in her favor?   Doesn’t say much for the plight of Feminism.   I’m not sure that’s the best way to debut such a potentially momentous event.   We’ll see what they do with it. The MITB PPV was kinda punk-ass all around so I’m hoping that was the point to drum up some drama but I’m not sure how cleanly that will be demonstrated.   I’ve been noticing that the WWE has recently been attempting to b
