SmackDown Doesn't Think Retention Is The Problem. They're Going to POUND Summer Slam In...

A Good Tuesday to You, Enthusiasts! So, the news that’s circulating about this week’s RAW is the obvious brutalization of Seth Rollins.   I could see this was the plan but the point is just what I brought up on the Twitters.   We don’t mind bumps.   This gig comes with ‘em and requires sturdy types who can take ‘em.   You’re going to catch a bruise or scrape from time to time.   It’s just how it is and we understand.   But of course, Brock Lesnar was depicted as “the Beast” and demolished Rollins but since this was unprovoked, the bigger question comes to the fore.   How do we present violence within our changing social landscape?   Now, I get it.   This act is not to be condoned and I’m sure they’ll address it tonight or next week but We the Audience, the more upstanding ones anyway, do not want people hurting themselves for our pleasure.   It’s not necessary.   We’re glad these ladies and gentlemen sacrifice themselves but we don’t want anyone paying too much of a price.   Afte

RAW Won't Let ANYONE Forget What Time It Is...

A Merry Monday to You, Enthusiasts! How’s the new week?   So, over the weekend I checked out the WWE Live Smackville Event and it wasn’t bad.   I’d say that caliber should be what they shoot for when it comes to Go-Home Shows.   The person that shined the most was Shinsuke Nakamura in my opinion.   Looked like he was staying loose and having fun, sometimes at Mustafa Ali’s expense, as a good heel should do.   The hour segment closed with a Triple Threat for the WWE Title between Samoa Joe, Kofi Kingston, and Dolph Ziggler.   They did their jobs but it wasn’t anything we haven’t seen before and naturally, Kingston retained the title.    Word is that the people on the social medias have been starting to state their boredom with Kingston and the match was kinda phoned in so, my only thought here is that I hope that is on purpose.   Otherwise, we may see the title change hands at Summer Slam.   We’ll see what they do. I took my time checking this event out and sat down and took a

And Now, SmackDown Tries to Follow. Remember Summer Slam?

Greetings Enthusiasts! How’s Tuesday going?  Well, I have to say that I didn’t expect the RAW Reunion to work but it actually was nice to see a lot of the old-timers.  To be honest, a good chunk of them were before my wrestling time but we all know that in the end it didn’t matter.  Stone Cold Steve Austin came out and did one of the things he does best, absolutely o wned   the crowd.  It was amazing and just like the good old times!  He’s great!  Too bad this is a young man’s game ‘cause the man could more or less still play if he just stayed at 40-something.  That’s the kinda stuff that made me love this stuff in the first place.  He’s just a natural badass and that’s what we must remember.  What we saw last night is what he, specifically brings to the table. A lot of people wonder why the WWE can’t create new Superstars of this caliber anymore and the reality of it is that whole "Superstar" thing doesn’t exactly fly nowadays.  Austin makes it work because I don’t

Looks Like It's All About this RAW Reunion...Whatever That Means...

A Merry Monday to You Enthusiasts! Did the weekend treat you well?   All I can say, there’s never enough of it.   As for recent news, well, we all know that tonight lends itself to exhibition as we have the “RAW Reunion”.   All sorts of stars, past and present but mostly past, will strut through tonight to hype up the WWE and Summer Slam to a lesser extent but word is that this is to get some publicity for the WWE.   Gotta get eyes on these shows! As many of you may also know, Variety dropped an article on the dismal state of the WWE and it’s mostly a bunch of information any weekly-watching fan already knows.   So, it’s agreed.  Something needs to be done to revamp the product.  What isn’t so clear is how exactly to do that.   The general consensus is that better storylines and relevant action are what’s needed and I agree but here’s where it gets tricky.   When you look at comment threads on these matters, we all appear to want better content but what constitutes “better co

A Tasty Tuesday to You, Enthusiasts! Why “tasty” you ask…because it starts with “T” 😉 So, we gather tonight to watch SmackDown’s Extreme Rules fallout show and it appears that we’ll have ourselves a Town Hall meeting hosted by Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan has big news!   It’s supposed to be career-altering.   I’m not even going to attempt to figure the angles here.   Just gonna sit back and watch and see if it lands. As for last night, I’d have to say it was a solid show.   The only thing that stuck out really was the Viking Raiders. Don’t know what to do with these guys.   I know the Viking thing is kinda hot right now but I have no idea how this works in the wrestling world.   I mean, there’s some wackiness going on, don’t get me wrong.   AEW is rocking some dude going by Luchasaurus and he strolls out with a pretty ornate lizard-like mask.   That guy works there, I guess but this particular We the Audience doesn’t really know how to take these sort of gimmicks.   They te

Good Evening, Enthusiasts! Enjoy Extreme Rules?   You know, to be honest it was one of the more solid PPVs they've had in a while, definitely blew Stomping Grounds out of the water.   Yes, Brock Lesnar cashed in but I don’t have a problem with it.   I would have preferred more of a shock to it but we all knew he was gonna drop it at some point.   Don’t act so surprised or upset.   I know there are capable wrestlers on the roster who could carry the title but remember these sorts of things are handled more like popularity contests in the WWE Universe.   Who really has that kind of swagger inside and outside the ring?   Whether anyone likes it or not, Lesnar makes this stuff more fun for the casual fan to watch.   People generally know who he is and he looks the part.   Who else has that?   Roman Reigns everyone is currently sick of though he’s staying relevant and Drew McIntyre is too new and Braun Strowman is the new Big Show.   Not that I have a problem with this it’s just ri

Extreme Rules Is Gonna Be Heavy...

A Good Sunday to You, Enthusiasts! So, how ready are you for Extreme Rules?    Personally, I’m a little surprised this is getting a 4pm/7pm start during the Summer but I guess they’re trying to get this wrapped up well before midnight for you East Coasters.   It is a "school night" for us who have to work 😉  And t hough they can advertise the Undertaker we all know that this isn’t one of the most hyped up PPVs.   What is interesting is that AEW offered another showing as well last night in the form of Fight for the Fallen.   I didn’t check it out but given what I’ve seen from AEW, all the WWE needs to do is keep tonight fun and entertaining.   If everyone can basically go out there and demonstrate why they get paid to do it, they shouldn’t have much to worry about when it comes to AEW.   Like I said, WWE can let AEW be Dallas .   They’ll stick to our version of class and represent those who would have preferred Dynasty if they had it to choose from.   The remake is t

How’s this Tuesday Going for You? I had a doctor’s appointment if that’s any consolation.   So, RAW didn’t so much phone it in as lob it over the net, so to speak.   As far as Go Home Shows go, I’d say they missed the mark a bit but as for a show, it was very OK.   Now, that makes it somewhat clear that they’re leaving the dirty work to SmackDown this time around.   So, here’s where some intrigue floats to the surface.   Was that all Paul Heyman could come up with or is that what he’s leaving Eric Bischoff to clean up? As this new era develops, there are going to be a ton of ways for Kayfabe to slip in.   One of those ways is in speculation in how the shows are run.   Would Heyman be that much of dick to leave the guy who hasn’t even officially started yet with the short end of the stick?   Well, if it makes for good story maybe.   We’ll see if this is just experimentation or the set-up of a more interesting tale. In any case, SmackDown has to do what it often has to

RAW Has the List of Extreme Rules!....

A Good Monday to You, Enthusiasts! Is it treating you well?   I hope you had a nice relaxing break.   In terms of the WWE Universe, w e should be ready to jump back into it with RAW ’s Go Home Show offering for Extreme Rules.   It’s hard to say what to expect but we can at least prepare for the content to be a little edgier.   It looks like the idea that wrestling is for kids is going out the window and now the focus is on the young upstarts in the teenage set and all those who aren't quite ready for full-on "adulting".   Hopefully, they find a feasible way to do this ‘cause I don’t know what’s going on with the kids anymore.   The way trends have been going, I wouldn’t think kids would care for this wrestling fare.   This is the main reason I’ve been suggesting following a sort of Game of Thrones set up, incorporating the Houses and such.   Perhaps the political intrigue may pique young interests who see the parallels in their waking lives.   I’m pretty sure scho

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts? So, enjoy RAW last night?   I didn’t find much wrong with it, to be honest.   I found it interesting that AJ Styles got the band back together.   We’ll see if he has more fun with this heel-turn.   I also find it kinda funny of how played up the Hoss Fight between Bobby Lashley and Braun Strowman is.   Rumor now has it that Strowman may possibly have a ruptured spleen and/or a separated pelvis.   They didn’t go through the display that hard and Strowman did all the plowing so, how is he the one all busted up?   Well, if both need to get surgery for something or just need to rest up, that’s fine.   They earned it.   It’s basically filler until Summer Slam anyway. In any case, tonight we may get an amuse bouche from Eric Bischoff and see how he handles this wrestling thing on WWE terms.   Word is that he probably won’t officially start until after Extreme Rules but since Heyman made his presence felt last night, he may have gone ahead and kept pace.

Let RAW Quench Your Thirst, Like a Cold Beer...

Greetings Enthusiasts! Well, there certainly has been some big news recently, hasn’t there.    Leading it all off is the news that Paul Heyman and Eric Bischoff have been given the reins to RAW and SmackDown respectively.   Now, most lament that as along as Mr. Chairman, Vince McMahon is still running things, they’ll always be subject to his last minute revisions but that’s where I tend to go on a limb of faith.   Did you ever think that those rumors are just those, rumors?   Not to defend the WWE or anything my point is that we don’t know what exactly goes on.   After watching that limited series, Dark Side of the Ring , I got some insight into the Wrestling Business I never had before and from the sound of it, Vince McMahon created the heel version of himself off the aftermath of the Montreal Screwjob.   And who knows, that whole thing could have been straight Kayfabe to do so.   Who definitively knows?   So, can we really take sentiments like that seriously?   Could it possibly
