King & Queen of the Ring - RAW Fallout

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts?   Enjoying the day off if you have it? I am. Had a nice walk, a nice meal and now I’m doing the blog. It’s a good day. King and Queen of the Ring came and went and it wasn’t bad. Nothing crazy happened but I don’t want my money back, so to speak.   I have to agree with the general consensus and give Match of the Night to GUNTHER vs. Randy Orton. They went out and smacked the shit out of each. Gunther had Orton looking like a big baby out there, all red and upset. Had to take everything back from last post. They just squared up and went to town. Can’t ask for much more.   Becky Lynch gets honorable mention for losing her shit on Dominik Mysterio after her loss to Liv Morgan. I don’t know if that “assist” is gonna get explained but I call shenanigans. I think Dom and Morgan are in cahoots. Looks like Morgan is getting set up for a show down with Rhea Ripley when she gets back. I’m sure Mami doesn’t approve.   The Intercontin...

King/Queen of The Ring - Matches of Interest

What’s Going On, Enthusiasts? So, it’s an interesting time. This time around in the KSA feels more like…Fastlane or something. Am I wrong? In any case, it’s not an entirely stacked card but there are some interesting matches. They have some implications but the intrigue comes in how they play out. Here are the 3 matches I’m looking at. I can’t help but comment on Lyra Valkyria vs. Nia Jax. It seems quick. Perhaps she has a bigger NXT following than I’m aware of but I’m not quite there yet. That could be what’s up, though. Something “screwy” could happen. Regardless, it’s Valkyria’s big shot so I hope she makes the most of it.  There’s some talk on the social media feeds given Vince Russo recently gave his 2¢ on the state of current “Super Stars” and he’s not all that impressed. One of the things he touched on is how those who have made it are now paying it forward to the up and coming wrestlers that they like.  Now, in business, this is often how it goes. But, I can see how in...

SmackDown in the KSA...

How’s It Going, Enthusiast? Happy Friday! So, there are few things to chat about today. Some stuff happened and WWE is over in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia so, we’ll be watching tape delayed action tonight and I’ll be checking in later tomorrow to watch the replay of the King & Queen of the Ring PPV. In the meantime, let’s see what’s going on, shall we? Let’s start in the Realm of AEW. There’s some less fortunate news there as Jim Ross was hospitalized recently due to complications from the flu. As much as we respect the man, we know he’s not in the best of health and a sickness like the flu can be deadly. Fortunately, it sounds like they got on the problem fairly early and it sounds like he should recover so let’s keep him in our prayers.  Another AEW personality on the mend is Kenny Omega. Word is that he had surgery for diverticulitis last week. That’s going to take some getting used to and some definite recovery time so keep him in our prayers as well. That sounds like somet...

RAW Tells Everyone to Pack Up for King/Queen of the Ring...

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts?   Enjoying your Monday evening? Meh, it’s kinda run of the mill over here but that’s okay. Not really in the mood for much excitement. So, there’s some chatter going on but nothing that is piquing my interest so, I’ll keep it to the brief preview of the night’s festivities. Remember, it’s Go-Home Week for the King of The Ring PPV/PLE in the KSA, so this should be a fun-filled night.   What I will comment on is that word is that SmackDown’s ratings were down last week and I just want to interject that some regions don’t play SmackDown at 8pm every week. As you know, I’m in the process of relocating and the city I plan to move to, also in Southern California, sometimes opts to show local team sports rather than SmackDown at that time so it gets preempted and shown later in the evening. This week, it didn’t come on until 11:30pm so, if other, less popular markets do the same, that would have to affect ratings. Luckily, I DVR it for just such...

SmackDown Makes King/Queen of the Ring Interesting...

Happy Friday, Enthusiasts! How’s everything going? Have to say it’s a bit of a slow news day in the Wrestling World but there’s enough to have a brief post. Shall we chat just a little?  Generally speaking, there are few of people out of action with injuries across the WWE Universe and the Realm of AEW. In AEW, the most notable is Eddie Kingston out with a knee injury. Given the looks of him, it’s surprising that’s all but he’s got to sit out for a little while. In the WWE Universe, Asuka, and Ivar are out while they heal up. Not devastating, but always too bad to see someone who loves to play sidelined. Let’s wish them full and speedy recoveries.  Besides that, we can get prepared for a full night of King/Queen of the Ring action on tonight’s SmackDown. The tournament starts to heat up as all the juicier showdowns start to take shape. Nia Jax will see what all the fuss is about when it comes to Jade Cargill. Tama Tonga will cut his teeth against LA Knight. Bianca Belair will...

RAW Is All About King/Queen of the Ring....

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts? I’m going to start today with a movie review because I saw The Iron Claw over the weekend and man , it’s tragic. I knew the Von Erich Family story was but jeez, it’s a bit of a rough watch. However, there is a bittersweetness to it and I do commend Zac Efron’s performance as Kevin Von Erich. Jeremy Allen White is also solid as Kerry but he tends to swing for the fences when he gets the job so, I feel that goes without saying. It is a downer though, so chase it with a comedy if you don’t want to dampen the rest of your day or night. I feel it’s a fair retelling of their story. Naturally, some things were changed for the sake of storytelling and I don’t have the full story, just what was on Dark Side of the Ring so, there’s got to be some omissions. Kevin Von Erich gave the film his blessing for the most part but has said the portrayal of his Father, Fritz, was not accurate. Kevin stated he was a “good and honorable man”. I don’t think the film presented hi...

SmackDown Makes It Clear that Focus Is Now on King & Queen of the Ring

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts? I’m on a brief vacay again but I’ve budgeted my time more efficiently this time around. So, there’s some stuff but again it’s stuff that’s pending more than anything else. Yet, there are a few things that I can chat about like MLW. I’ve only heard of them and I assume that Jacob Fatu is a part of the “Bloodline” technically but that’s about it. Word is Will Osprey will join them soon and they had an hour of television on Vice last night. You know what, I liked it! I liked it more than I like AEW. What I saw looked more like what I would do with a wrestling promotion and I enjoyed the wrestling news segment too. Just to the point wrasslin’. I’m down. The action was good and the presentation simple. The only notes I have for them is to work on the camera work. There was a lot of times they had other cameramen in the shot. Makes it clear everyone is new to that, but that’s okay. I like the junior feel of it. Get the feeling they’ll learn. I’ll watch the n...

SmackDown Can't Believe It...RAW Actually Listened...

Happy Tuesday to You, Enthusiasts! I don’t know about you but things could certainly be worse in my corner.  So, last night was one of the finer Go-Home Shows I’ve seen in quite some time.  It was exactly what it should have been.  Though some people question the old tactics of bringing back Attitude Era veterans to inject some life and gain some ratings, it all makes sense when you think about it.  They have to look like a good investment to FOX so they have to up their game a bit and too original/new content could sour fans, they’re keeping with sure fire bets so they can get off on the right foot.  Wouldn’t you?  They’ll be time for experimentation, trust me.  The way things are going – not that they’re bad – they’ll have no choice but to implement some trial and error from time to time.  Right now, they’re just focusing on playing the right note. Speaking of right notes, of last night the most surprising to me was the Firefly Fun Hou...

So, Does that Mean SmackDown Does the Actual Tweaking...

Image
Probably (^_~) A Cool Tuesday to You, Enthusiasts! I’m not sure where you are, but where I am it’s hot!   So, I have to say that I kinda like this slow burn that RAW is experimenting with.   We advanced the King of the Ring tournament.   We get some intrigue as the RAW Semifinal becomes a Triple Threat with Baron Corbin now having to face Samoa Joe and Ricochet.   This gets interesting because there is no clear favorite.   Ricochet is crazy in the ring.   Corbin is a formidable opponent just due to the size of him and Samoa Joe is rigidly focused at the moment.   No matter what, it should be entertaining. Moreover, we have the SmackDown quarterfinals for tonight where we’ll see Elias face Mustafa Ali and Chad Gable gets a shot at Andrade.   I’m thinking it’s gonna be Elias and Andrade here.   Story-wise, Elias has Shane’s backing and Andrade is supposed to be dating Charlotte so, I don’t see Gable being that over to be conside...

Right! RAW Sees Where Some Tweaks Could Be Made...

A Happy Labor Day to You, Enthusiasts! And for those whom this doesn’t apply, a good Monday to you!   So, we have to get back on this Clash of Champions / King of the Ring track and it looks like the WWE is on it.   It may be in response to AEW’s All Out PPV that was on this past weekend.   I hear Jericho has their title on his shoulder and this prompted Baron Corbin to voice his mild resentment at fans who have a problem with how the same thing is done in the WWE.   Well, I suppose the big difference is presentation.   In recent years, there has been a sort of “take and like it” kind of vibe to how the WWE presented its content.   If a good show is presented, We the Audience won’t resist it.   That has been the major difference between the WWE and anyone else of late.   We would get a good showing by chance not orchestration.   Now, with competition brewing, they’re starting to return to the basics and are starting to reincorporate co...

SmackDown Sees There's Still A Lot to Do....

Image
A Tuneful Tuesday to You Enthusiasts, It’s tuneful because I’m listening to music 😉 So, RAW was… very okay last night but that’s all right.   It is because that means they are experimenting or at least, that’s what they should be doing.   Expect these weeks prior to the Go-Home Shows to have this sort of feel.   People aren’t fully engaged because Clash of Champions is one of the less popular PPVs so this is a prime time to kick around ideas and see what works.   I wouldn’t say it was a total loss but hopefully they’ve got plenty of notes to work with.   Don’t worry guys, it should get better.   Gotta crack a few eggs to make this omelet. So, for tonight I wouldn’t say that SmackDown has to clean up the RAW mess as so much set a better example for RAW to follow for next week.   There were some long, not necessarily interesting matches last night.   Perhaps SmackDown will counter with some excitement.   They’ll wrap up the 1 st r...

RAW Gets You to Re-Focus! There's Plenty to Be Done!

Image
A Merry Monday to You, Enthusiasts! My goodness, quite a bit of news circulating isn’t there.   To start, we all now know about Becky Lynch and Seth Rollins getting engaged.   I congratulate this new couple but I will say that I do hope they have a long, long engagement.   Not to knock the couple but there’s something about this union that I’m not completely sold on.   Not that I think this is a work.   News dropped on Instagram it looks like so, it’s all right to presume this is not a work but it wasn’t something I saw coming.   This seems more like it could be out of convenience more than anything else so, I just hope that they take their sweet time so they can properly iron out any kinks or get a chance to call it quits before it’s too late. Also buzzing about the WWE Universe, NXT is going to take the vacant space SmackDown leaves on USA and rival AEW with a Wednesday night, 2-hour time slot.   I’m a little conflicted by this development ...

And for the Second Course, SmackDown Has Some 1st Round King of the Ring Action...

A Tantalizing Tuesday to You, Enthusiasts! Why tantalizing, you ask?   Well, to close this week’s WWE action, we have SmackDown offering what could be quite a match with Buddy Murphy continuing to serve as an example of what happens to “snitches” as he faces Daniel Bryan tonight.   This should be a good one or at least, somewhat competitive as Bryan is some Hippie Heel and Murphy has shit to prove.   We’ll see how they spin this one.   Go ahead and prepare yourself for some sort of “no contest” finish.   As much as this could be a great match, I doubt they’ll waste implications at this time.   Treat this as an experiment.   We’ll see how these fellows match up and if we’re pleasantly surprised with an actual decision, we can go to bed with some sort of peace.   Ideally, this could set up some Clash of Champions action. Tonight, we can rest a little easy because RAW was solid last night.   Smackdown just has to bring it in, so to s...
