RAW Wants You to Have Fun - It's a Party!....

A Merry Monday to You, Enthusiasts! So, there’s only 2 real points of interest being advertised for tonight.   First of all, we should be getting an “update” on Roman Reigns’ status and the vibe appears to be that this should be good news.   Now, I made my view clear in this blog by stating that I don’t really buy the leukemia diagnosis but that doesn’t mean I don’t think something’s going on.   To me, this may be the look of Kayfabe in the Modern Age.   Kayfabe in the 21 st Century, if you will.    The thing is that the WWE Universe relays to us how it wants to be perceived.   We have to accept that when we enter into this world, what’s real and what's not will always be difficult to discern.     In all honesty, we really don’t need to know what’s going on in the wrestlers’ lives.   We need only know them as performers.   But in these days of Social Media, we can and often will seek out and find the truth.   So, the WWE has the difficult task of maintaining its reality in th

A Happy Tuesday to You, Enthusiasts! How’s it going for you?   Hopefully not too bad.   So, RAW had a few little surprises as it gave us a little taste of its NXT offerings.   I have to say the ones who impressed were this Ricochet I’ve been hearing so much about and Aleister Black.   I appreciated his taste for theatrics.   These guys appear to “get it” as far as how the WWE Universe operates.   As for the others in this Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa, I’m not sure.   No doubt they’re true technicians in their fields but that’s the thing about the majority of We the Audience, this skill may be lost on us to a certain degree.   We like action over technique so, these gentlemen may have to find a healthy mix of difficulty and flashiness to keep us less involved fans interested.   The thing about this genre is, though there is no lack of die-hard fans, many of us are quite casual.   Like me for instance, I always joke of how I don’t watch the “Minor Leagues” so, I don’t even wa

The Elimination Chamber Is Over! RAW Now Guides Us to FastLane...

A Merry Monday to You, Enthusiasts! The Elimination Chamber is over and we’re not all that affected by it.   It wasn’t a bad PPV but it certainly was a lesser one.   The match of the night was the SmackDown Elimination Chamber match though the Women did open well but that was to be expected.   Unfortunately, there weren’t really any pleasant surprises.   Personally, if you ask me, it seems like everyone needed to loosen up.   I know they’re focused on what they have to execute but these things are always more fun when the roster is in to it.   This came off more like work.   I’m not sure if that’s an ingrained mentality or what but all I think this PPV needed was people going out there and having more fun with it.   That was sort of hinted at with Becky Lynch hobbling in to cause some chaos but everybody should have been “going for it” to some degree.   That’s the beauty of these lesser PPVs.   You can let it all hang out.   Less people are probably watching so, why not ham it u

A Good Sunday to You, Enthusiasts! So, we’re gathered here today to witness this year’s Elimination Chamber.   I’m not going to get into everything.   I think this will be one of those hit or miss PPVs so it will up to the talent to prove they are worth watching this time around.   The match I do think may prove interesting are the WWE Championship Chamber match between Daniel Bryan, AJ Styles, Samoa Joe, Jeff Hardy, Randy Orton and Kofi Kingston.   This is pretty well set to be the match of the night but it could possibly be upstaged.   Where could this surprise happen?  Anywhere really but if I had to guess, I’d put money on the Triple Threat for the Intercontinental Title between Bobby Lashley, Finn Bálor and Lio Rush or the No DQ Match between Baron Corbin and Braun Strowman.   Not that I don’t have any faith in the ladies it’s just in many of their cases, the match is new and experimental and though it may be solid, I don’t think they’ll find their real stride for a coupl

Yeah, They'll Show You the Way but SmackDown Has the Keys...

How Goes It, Enthusiasts? Is Tuesday treating you well?   I still can’t complain.   So, let’s get right to it, shall we.   It appears that the Head of the McMahon family still has the final say in the end as our “Man” Becky Lynch is now under a 60-day suspension and Charlotte has been dubbed to take her place.   I can’t say I saw this coming but at the same time, I’m not upset with the twist.   I think it’s a good sign, actually.   Creative is actually thinking.   We wanted better content, right?   They’re telling us a story.   When’s the last time they’ve done that? (^_~) Now, they have to take it somewhere interesting and set it down cleanly.   Here’s where the door opens for ridicule but be lenient.   This is a long-running, serial show.   These storylines aren’t always going to be the strongest but what sets up WrestleMania will always get some scrutiny.   We’ll see if they build some good hype.   In other news, Dean Ambrose’s win over the over-confident EC3 could be a l

Allow RAW to Show the Way to the Elimination Chamber

A Good Evening to You, Enthusiasts! We have arrived at the RAW go-home show for the Elimination Chamber and I have to say, some jazzing up is in order.  I’ve practically forgotten what’s on the card.  And with a number of wrestlers limping through injuries, it’s hard to say what exactly we’ll get.  I can’t even speculate on what we can expect.  I’m not saying it’s a bad thing but I just hope they have their contingency plans in order. For tonight, all that’s advertised is that Becky Lynch is set to return, though suspended and I can only assume she still hasn’t seen the resident doctor so, we’ll see how they play out that angle.  A battered and bruised Seth Rollins will address Brock Lesnar at some point. We’ll see if there’s a surprise lurking in the wings.  And Ruby Riott contemplates taking a bite out of Ronda Rousey if she doesn’t get arm-barred first.  So, as you can see, I’m not exactly itching to see what happens at Elimination Chamber with this set-up but perhaps th

Yeah, You Can Go With RAW's Way or Get With SmackDown's Plan...

A Good Tuesday to You, Enthusiasts! So, I’ve been hearing that the ratings for both RAW and SmackDown are generally down but I have to say it shouldn’t be because of the fare.   Last night, though hard to call was quite entertaining.   Exactly what it should be for being 2 weeks out from a PPV.   This could just be a greater indicator of this being a sign of the times.   Not to say that the genre will ever fall into obscurity but I think what we must understand is that this genre is Cult by definition.   It draws people who are generally “different” in some way.   We are not the typical consumer.   We like things rough and tumble to a certain degree and let’s face it, that’s becoming decidedly frowned upon in this day and age.   This should be more a marker for going back to basics.   The genre has always been on the fringe.   I think though the WWE is the mainstream incarnation, they above all should remember its grittier, niche origins.   It should never try to be something it’

How’s it going, Enthusiasts? I understand if you don’t know what quite to say.   It’s hard to know how things are going to proceed.   With the news of Dean Ambrose’s departure hovering, the WWE Universe is being faced with one of its, I wouldn’t say adversaries but it can prove quite the obstacle sometimes in the form of Reality.   So, we will see if this Ambrose situation holds up.   The thing about this is how it was dropped.   If WWE Management knew he was leaving after WrestleMania, why did they drop the news now?   Wouldn’t the more politic approach be to drop the news after WrestleMania?   They could comfortably “write him off”.   Is he just going to “disappear” now and we continue on as if he was never there?   We make believe The Shield never happened?   This is where those hoping against hope can make their case for a work.   It just seems poorly handled if it is real.   They could have dropped the bomb after the fact now it’s like, what do you do with him?   We’ll see.
