Second to Last Stop to WrestleMania!...

A Happy Easter Monday to You, Enthusiasts.   Since we gather weekly, we sometimes bear witness to the sub holidays. Might as well embrace it. So, let’s see what’s going on in the wrestling world today.   I suppose what has the most general buzz is the anticipation of NXT moving to Tuesdays. I’ve also heard that Ring of Honor was trying to secure something for Thursday and you have New Japan providing offerings on that day through Roku too so, it looks like there may soon be wrestling on TV every weekday night. I would think that’s an achievement for the Industry. A potential fan can now sample the basic offerings and make a decision. We’ll see if one of these promotions gives WWE a run for its money.   As for the NXT move specifically, I think it makes sense. It subconsciously aligns itself with RAW and quiets the talk of the “Wednesday Night” wars. If anything, I think this move makes collaboration all the more possible. They probably won’t start that until everyone’s vacc

RAW Ushers Us to Elimination Chamber...

Hello Enthusiasts! Happy Monday.   For many of you, you’re enjoying President’s Day and for many of you, it’s just another day. No shame in it. It’s just the times. Well, there’s some news floating around in the wrestling world. Let’s see what’s worth chatting about.   What caught my attention is that Cody Rhodes is open to collaboration with WWE. I have said how I’d love to see AEW storm WWE during Survivor Series someday. It has “Next Level” written all over it. Yet, I’m in agreement that neither one is there yet but I do think the possibility becomes more valid in the next 3-5 years. If everyone just keeps striving for the best, we could have some tantalizing showdowns and face-offs in the future. The key will be keeping them sparse, maybe 3-4 times a year. The last thing you want to do is overplay an angle like that. You want to keep it special. It becomes less so if it’s every PPV but hit the big ones, and that may just get more eyes on the spectacle. I’m all for it.

SmackDown Leads Us into Memorial Day Weekend...

Happy Friday, Enthusiasts! I know the bulk of us have been staying home but I’m so in the mood for this upcoming 3-day weekend.   Can’t wait to just check out.   But, before all that, we must have the bi-weekly conversation regarding the WWE Universe.   The main headlines concern the unfortunate passing of Shad Gaspard who apparently drowned after saving a child at the beach.   Word is that a riptide carried him out and that was that.   I was not familiar with this gentleman yet, these sorts of circumstances are always bittersweet because in order for someone to live, someone else had to die.   Let us hope this child understands the sacrifice and pays it forward in life.   Something else floating about is news of Jim Cornette’s response to Becky Lynch’s pregnancy.   I listened to some of the podcast and Cornette just comes off as a crotchety old man, to be honest.   If Lynch wants to go be a mom, why not?   She’s not getting any younger and if that was an aspiration of hers, now is

RAW Doesn't Appear to Know What Time It Is...

Merry Monday, Enthusiasts! How’d the weekend treat you?   Well, hope it got you in the mood for tonight!  Though…I’m not sure if there’s much to get excited about but more on that a little later. First off, let’s just touch a little on SmackDown .   It wasn’t a bad show, per se but there were definitely a few segments that didn’t fully work, the main ones, of course, involving The Fiend.   I don’t mind the Firefly Fun House but the “feud” with The Miz isn’t generally landing.   We’re accepting this is the story right now but we don’t really buy it.   It’s too obvious this is the current gimmick.   Yet, that is kind of why this Fiend thing isn’t landing.   It’s an obvious gimmick.   Now, that’s what Wyatt wanted to pitch so now he has to sell it.   All I’m saying is I’m not sold.   If he can make this something the lay person could readily understand, perhaps this could get some traction but if I’m supposed to shiver at some guy in a Halloween mask, paid to entertain, and it’s

So, I Guess SmackDown Has to Light this Fire...

How Goes It, Enthusiasts? This a good Friday for you?   Let’s hope.   In any case, RAW wasn’t bad this week.   It wasn’t as exciting as it could have been but there was some good action here and there.   Besides Brock Lesnar presuming he can slay the roster at the Royal Rumble, the big reveal concerned the return of Big Show to in-ring action!...   I thought he was gonna retire.   Is that going to be a running gag?   Every year is supposedly his last?   Not that I mind it but I don’t know.   I like Big Show but it’s always been hard to watch him lumber around that ring.   I know he’s in better shape but you can see it’s just a chore to move that vessel around.   If he’s still having fun, I won’t say he should stop but if it is that much of a chore, perhaps participate within a different capacity, like backstage manager or let’s see if he works on commentary.   He doesn’t have to kill himself for me. As for tonight, we should start to lean into the Royal Rumble a little more

SmackDown Just Tries to be Effective. No Plan Necessary.

Good Evening, Enthusiasts! How’s this week going for you so far?   I’m just grateful the Gods didn’t interrupt my West Coast feed so no complaints from me. Let's hope the trend continues.   So, RAW came through and did its thing and I have to say, they set a good tone for being about 2 weeks out from WrestleMania.   The action was high energy and engaging.   It even brought me to wonder a bit.   Personally, I would say a high point was seeing Beth Phoenix in action.   I wasn’t watching during her heyday but it was nice to see her get her footing back and just be big and bad-ass!   Like I said on the Twitters, need more gals like that on the roster.   I feel like I can pick a lot of the ladies up by the scruff.   The more to ‘em, the easier it all is to believe unless they got mad skills in which case, that’s what they have going on. I also found the main event intriguing.   Some people didn’t care for the placement and tone because it had Drew McIntyre stand triumphant ov

Still Hungry? RAW Can Fill You...

A Merry Monday to You, Enthusiasts! Hope yours is drier than mine.   We’re soaked over here on the southern West Coast.   Besides that, it’s time for RAW again and the theme is setting-up for the Royal Rumble.   We’ve got a couple weeks so, we won’t be getting the juiciest bits but we’ll be getting something to nosh on.   We can expect another Triple Threat betwixt Dean Ambrose, Bobby Lashley and Seth Rollins.   As you remember, it was Lashley who busted up the party last week.   They’ll get their chance to settle it “fair and square” this time around. Also, the Ladies get some action in the form of Sasha Banks and Ronda Rousey going up against the imposing duo of Nia Jax and Tamina.   After Banks’ rousing display last week, we’ll see if she can keep the momentum going.   She keeps it up, she could find herself with Becky Lynch as the key rival in her canon.   It’s nice to see the competition being upped in such organic fashion.   The roster is being allowed to show its talen
