SmackDown Leads Us into Memorial Day Weekend...

Image
Happy Friday, Enthusiasts! I know the bulk of us have been staying home but I’m so in the mood for this upcoming 3-day weekend.   Can’t wait to just check out.   But, before all that, we must have the bi-weekly conversation regarding the WWE Universe.   The main headlines concern the unfortunate passing of Shad Gaspard who apparently drowned after saving a child at the beach.   Word is that a riptide carried him out and that was that.   I was not familiar with this gentleman yet, these sorts of circumstances are always bittersweet because in order for someone to live, someone else had to die.   Let us hope this child understands the sacrifice and pays it forward in life.   Something else floating about is news of Jim Cornette’s response to Becky Lynch’s pregnancy.   I listened to some of the podcast and Cornette just comes off as a crotchety old man, to be honest.   If Lynch wants to go be a mom, why not?   She’s not getting any younger and if that was an aspiration of hers, now is

Looks Like Smackdown Is Going to Have to Help Build this Cell...

Happy Tuesday to You, Enthusiasts! How are you doing this evening?   Well, I hope.   So, let’s get right to it, shall we.   RAW wasn’t the best but that may be more due to something that often gets in the WWE’s way: Reality.   That concept bursts more bubbles than we can count and the WWE Universe is apparently bumping into it now.     The example best showed itself in the Bray Wyatt segments.    One opened last night and it wasn’t bad but the premise had Wyatt interacting with a live Seth Rollins.   I know plenty of people love this gimmick but the transition from screen to real time was awkward at best and it’s hard not to roll your eyes sometimes because we are being asked to accept this “spooky” alter ego.   I’m not sure how I’m supposed to get the spooks with some guy in a Halloween mask.   Again, I rather have a beatdown. Then to close, I have to say I was delighted to see Dad (Kane) but for him to go down to The Fiend just gets me all riled up about how they never used

SmackDown Sees There's Still A Lot to Do....

A Tuneful Tuesday to You Enthusiasts, It’s tuneful because I’m listening to music 😉 So, RAW was… very okay last night but that’s all right.   It is because that means they are experimenting or at least, that’s what they should be doing.   Expect these weeks prior to the Go-Home Shows to have this sort of feel.   People aren’t fully engaged because Clash of Champions is one of the less popular PPVs so this is a prime time to kick around ideas and see what works.   I wouldn’t say it was a total loss but hopefully they’ve got plenty of notes to work with.   Don’t worry guys, it should get better.   Gotta crack a few eggs to make this omelet. So, for tonight I wouldn’t say that SmackDown has to clean up the RAW mess as so much set a better example for RAW to follow for next week.   There were some long, not necessarily interesting matches last night.   Perhaps SmackDown will counter with some excitement.   They’ll wrap up the 1 st round of King of the Ring with Mustafa Ali fa

Summer Slam Is Done! Let RAW Guide You to the Next Stop...

Greetings Enthusiasts! How did Summer Slam treat you?   Well, for me I thought it was lacking but not exactly a bad show.   It was like a really solid RAW .   There wasn’t so much the pomp and circumstance that I was anticipating for a Summer Slam. That’s the main reason I thought there’d be a lot of “last minute changes” but it went pretty much as advertised so, all I hope for now is that this was the plan.   This is fine if it's a step towards a larger unveiling/reveal but if this was all they had this year, I hope they take note and set a higher standard for next year. It really didn’t feel like that big of a deal. As for the content itself, a few segments stood out. As many of you know, The Fiend made his in-ring debut and for me, I wasn’t all that impressed yet, I accept that I am in the minority.   That being said, this got me more excited for the return of Finn Bálor.   I know he’s going to take a little time off and this absence is the perfect opportunity to retool

RAW Is Forward Thinking - Please Partake...

A Blessed Christmas Eve to You, Enthusiasts! I hope you’re having fun with your traditions or at least are enjoying yourself comfortably.   Tonight we get the second show taped last week so that our travel-worn roster can take a break and enjoy the Holidays.   That will show a little in the tonight’s fare as some of who we would generally consider the “second stringers” get some airtime while others do double duty.   Seth Rollins will be one of those as he faces off against Baron Corbin and Natalya has to freshen up for her title match with Ronda Rousey.   We’ll see if the fatigue shows. We also can expect to see Paul Heyman leave us with some Holiday cheer and as for the rest of it, we’ll see if people take full advantage of the opportunity.   Might as well blow it out for the New Year.   As you can see, I don’t have much to say because what we’re looking for is whether the double-header has taken a toll.   Again, in these “Woke” Ages, we don’t need these people to suffer f
