SmackDown Takes a Little Detour on the Way to SummerSlam...

Image
Happy Friday, Enthusiasts! I hope it’s treating you well. There’s not a whole hell of a lot to chat about today but enough for a short post. Let’s get to it, shall we? So, the first bit of interesting news is how Shayna Baszler is letting us know how she abides by the Kayfabe assignment that is her career. She’s doubling down on her current feud with Ronda Rousey and saying she isn’t pulling any punches. What she says is the “truth” and she’s sticking to it. Rousey was fast-tracked due to popularity while Baszler slanged in the background. Well, enough is enough and they’ll soon settle this once and for all. I am like many Baszler well-wishers in the sense that I wouldn’t mind seeing Baszler on a Face turn. Rousey is a good start but to be honest, I think Sonya Deville is probably a better “enemy”. I’ve pitched Baszler being a sort of anti-hero before. She could begrudgingly defend the likes of Liv Morgan against Deville’s bullying ways at some point.  A display like that is more belie

WWE Left Us a Pre-Recorded Show This SmackDown...

Happy Friday, Enthusiasts!   How’s everything? Well, some news dropped today so, let’s get right into what’s buzzing around.   So, WWE decided to do their NXT releases this week and there are a few surprises. To be honest, I didn’t know who the bulk of them were but I did hear of Dakota Kai and Dexter Lumis along with Parker Boudreaux/Harland. Boudreaux was particularly hyped up ‘cause he was basically the next version of Brock Lesnar. Guess his charisma wasn’t reading.   Well, most are more surprised at Dakota Kai and I can’t really comment. I just know of her. I’m not very familiar with her work so, I’m not particularly gutted by this announcement and honestly, I feel most should view this more matter-of-factly. We all know WWE does their periodic releases. Given how they used to hoard talent it can be argued that this systematic trimming of it is a good thing. True, it’s always sad to hear of someone being let go but we all have to admit that it is a fact of life. We all

SmackDown Begins the Draft...

How Goes It, Enthusiasts!   The WWE Draft is upon us so that’s the talk at the moment. There are some other rumblings but it’s a bit of a slow period in general in the wrestling world. It’s all right, though. It does happen. This should be a brief post. There’s one or 2 things I can talk about.   First, the talk of Bray Wyatt returning to wrestling has been churned up. I believe his non-compete clause is coming up. Many thought he may debut at AEW this week in honor of the fallen Brodie Lee f.k.a. Luke Harper but that did not come to pass. I hear that Rampage was taped this week so, if he were to show up there, I think we would have heard the rumors by now.   Well, I’m beginning to think his release was a work. I don’t know much about Wyatt’s history prior to WWE but he’s very WWE. I don’t know if he’d even work in AEW. He’s not a great wrestler but he can put on a good match and he’s entertaining so, WWE seems like the best place for him. Many feel he’ll end up at Impact

SmackDown Brings SummerSlam to Its Official Close...

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts?   I hope this Friday is going well for you. There some subtler things to talk about today. Given recent events, we can now start to see how they play out. It’s a very interesting time in the wrestling world. Let’s get started.   So, let’s begin with AEW. CM Punk on TV again in character is exciting but I find it engaging for other reasons. I caught his bit on Dynamite and I couldn’t help but notice how he went from honest interaction with the audience to seguing into his match with Darby Allin as cleanly as anyone polished by the WWE. Punk is establishing that he can handle the mic to those who don’t know and the manner to which he does so comes off as highly WWE influenced. Quite eye-brow raising if you ask me. True, it makes sense. We all know it’s in his history but at the same time, we all know that their relationship isn’t the best, or at least that’s how it seems. Nevertheless, it amused me to see how the experience permeates his presentatio

RAW Puts in the Root Vegetables First...

A Merry Monday to You, Enthusiasts.   These are curious times in the WWE Universe. Usually, the curiosity more lies in the content we’re going to see. Recently, it appears to more concern WWE’s general game plan. With the recent releases leaving many at a loss, it’s hard to say what WWE is planning on doing. Given who was let go, some would say it doesn’t look good. I have to be honest and say I don’t have enough information to say one way or another.   We can all generally agree that WWE has been more or less rudderless for the past 5-6 years. Potentially more but I can only vouch for say the past 7 or so. They haven’t been a great 7 years. This past year has been the best I’ve seen them in total. I’m not completely heartbroken by the releases but I was upset at others. I didn’t like seeing Rusev go but I get it. He broke kayfabe and that should be a no-no. I thought Pac was a shame. Seeing Dean Ambrose go was painful. And more recently, I was a little disappointed at Christia
