SmackDown Says Go Home but Stay Close...

Happy Friday, Enthusiasts! How’s everything going? It’s a hot one in SoCal. I’m sitting here melting, but that doesn’t keep me from blogging. You can call me “devoted” 😉 In any case, there are few things to chat about today. So, let’s get into it. We’ll start in the Realm of AEW as we have now the “Copeland Era” yet, it may not be quite the dynasty some may have hoped. I heard that Edge/Adam Copeland’s debut on Dynamite wasn’t very well-rated but that may have been due to a streaming glitch. Word is that the TV Listing was showing at 4pm in some areas leading to some confusion and perhaps lost viewers.  Regardless, I felt compelled to support Copeland so I took a gander via On Demand services. Well, AEW definitely has its charm yet I still feel more satisfied with WWE fare. However, there were some bright spots. Rey Fenix certainly proved himself and a former NXT/WWE-er in Toni Storm is embracing her inner hysterics as she tries on a Sunset Boulevard -like gimmick.  I appreciate S

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts?   Enjoying Labor Day if you’re able? I can’t say that I mind it. It’s a relaxing afternoon for me. Just about to have a bit of tea 😉 So, there’s some stuff to talk about, isn’t there. Let’s get into it.   So, it happened. CM Punk was released from his AEW contract and we wonder where he may end up next. Naturally, all eyes are on WWE and I feel that’s a natural conclusion.   Whether this is all real or not, either way, AEW has made it clear it doesn’t really know how to deal with Punk. He’s got a rep in the industry so Tony Khan should have taken him on knowing he’d be a challenge. To me, this looks like Khan simply didn’t have the experience or clout in the industry to hold his own counter to Punk.   Given Punk’s disposition, it seems to me that you’re going have words with him from time to time. If you are not secure in yourself, you’re not going to get the man’s respect. I wouldn’t doubt Punk views Khan as a bit of kid still so, why list

Happy Friday, Enthusiasts!   I hope all is going well. There are some things going on in the wrestling world but I’ve found a few that caught my interest. Let’s see what’s been going on this week.   So, we have another “chapter” in the CM Punk miniseries. Apparently, even his dog got a piece of the action backstage in the All Out brawl. That just made me laugh so naturally, I’m not buying it but it goes to show how he should roll with this punch…no pun intended. Humor is the way out of this pickle. I think he should play along with his “bad attitude” and angle to make it comedic gold. You always know you can get a headache and a laugh with CM Punk around. I never thought this was all that real to begin with but this kinda confirms my suspicions. People just don’t know how to play along anymore. They take everything so seriously. Hope he manages to have fun with it.   In the WWE Universe, we have some branch out news as Liv Morgan got a role on USA’s Chucky . I didn’t see he

RAW Has Got Some Time. How About You...

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts?   Anything interesting going on? Well, there’s a little bit going on but I’m just gonna wrap up the CM Punk business and get into tonight’s No Man’s Land RAW action.   So, after all the hubbub, Punk is out with a torn triceps for about 8 months and there it is. The “hiatus” so everyone can decide what to do with this fiasco. Well, if AEW is the kinder, gentler wrestling promotion, they won’t fire him while he recovers. I would think they would at least give him time to recover and potentially explain himself. Then they’ll decide what to do with him.   On the other hand, in this down time, WWE could enter the picture. Yet, I don’t think they’d seek to acquire him as is. He’s probably going to have to make some sort of amends so he’s not just complete damaged goods. Yet, they may be able to negotiate themselves a “fair deal” given that’s what Punk did to himself.   Also, there’s the possibility that Punk goes “Fuck it!” and retires. He’s not

Happy Friday, Enthusiasts!   This is the most disagreeable heat I have ever experienced in my life to date. Not only is it really hot but even the rain we’re getting isn’t helping. The climate she is a changing. Well, this time around, the wrestling world serves as a welcome distraction. Let’s get into this CM Punk business and put it to bed once and for all.   So, what’s going on with this guy? Is this Punk business a misfired work or proof of the truth that’s always lied beneath? It’s hard to say but the consensus is coming to the conclusion that this was at the very least “premeditated”. From what I’m hearing, Tony Khan knew Punk had some sort of bee in his bonnet just didn’t know how big or what kind.   Let’s break it down into its bare parts. What gets me about the whole thing is the timing of it. CM Punk unloads after their All Out PPV, that he wins. Has a “fight” backstage with people he’s known to “dislike” and then in the melee supposedly suffered an injury that t

A Good Black Friday to You, Enthusiasts! May you be pleasantly stuffed with leftovers. So, even with the Holiday it has been an eventful week. Though, many of us don't even remember RAW  there is some wrestling that resonates. Chatter is starting to churn up with ideas of inter-promotional trading, as I foretold. It may not get to the status that it is in MLB or the NFL but people are beginning to consider who from AEW should go to WWE. Now, what people must understand is that it's clear that this wouldn't be considered a "promotion" or "graduation". This may merely be a mark of better placement. WWE could one one day be the pinnacle it may have once represented but I think many of us can admit, it may never had been that great a place. The outrageous "pops" and personalities definitely lent to a good time when all the right pieces were in place but most of it wouldn't fly now. Match quality is too subjective to call. What sold before, sim

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts?   Doing all right at the beginning of the week? This has been one of the smoother Mondays I’ve had on record so, I’m not complaining. I think you can probably tell by now that I rarely do.   Anyway, let’s see what’s going on in the wrestling world. So, CM Punk continues to be at the top of the heap, this time on real TV with a guest role on the new wrestling series Heels.   He basically played one of his alter egos in Ricky Rabies, an indie backwoods type of wrestler. Well, watch the episode for the glimpse it gives of Punk in the ring. That’s probably a good preview of what’s in store for fans in the months to come. By the looks of it, Punk’s still got it.   But what really intrigues me is how Punk is on his own personal media offensive. He’s blowing up in this bitch and that seems to be the plan.   I don’t have a problem with this, it’s just not quite what I was expecting. Punk wants to blow up on his own terms and he appears to be achieving t

SummerSlam Is Here & Has a Lot of Work to Do...

Happy Saturday, Enthusiasts!   So, before we get into SummerSlam, let’s just get CM Punk out of the way first. I can see why people like him. He is a great orator and you can see that he feels deeply about this profession. It’s easy to see how WWE could have “led him astray” both in kayfabe and real time. Given that, I hope this run is a good one. It seems to be for the right reasons and oftentimes, that’s half the battle so, I’m happy for him. I hope this relights the flame he had for professional wrestling. I admit that what WWE has to offer is not exactly the same thing.   The backbone is there, though and it will be up to them to decide how much they want to honor the tradition. So far, from what I can deduce the homage is done in some of the slapsticky bits. That’s like a nod to the old-timey way of putting on a wrestling show, I think. That’s definitely my interpretation. As for the passion, well we can all see it’s been lacking but there are glimmers of hope.   AEW c

SmackDown Takes It Easy Going in to SummerSlam...

A Good Friday to You, Enthusiasts!   It’s a strange time Go Home Show wise. SmackDown seems to be downplaying itself in anticipation of bigger news happening over at AEW. With Rampage being held in CM Punk’s hometown of Chicago, everybody is basically waiting for his debut.   I’m relatively unmoved since I never really got a chance to get into Punk. Just as I was beginning to warm up to him, he left WWE. So, I kinda don’t know what the big fuss is about but I respect that there is a fuss. Hey, I tried to get on the bandwagon. Dude, bailed.   Now, he’s poised to debut at AEW and I’m lukewarm on it but, I’ll give him a solid shot. That’s what I did the first time around and I’m more than willing to become a fan. I guess the question becomes, how long does he stay? It’s clear we all will see.   So, in response to all this, WWE has gone more or less dark. Little to nothing has been advertised for SmackDown , though we have SummerSlam tomorrow. It’s an interesting move and
