Night of Champions - RAW Fallout

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts!   Are you enjoying the day off if you have it? Most of us in the United States have the federal holiday of Memorial Day off and I have to say that it’s always nice to have a 3-day weekend. WWE took advantage and had a couple PPVs if you count NXT’s offering. Let’s discuss, shall we?   Well, WWE can rest easy this week as word has it AEW’s PPV, Double or Nothing didn’t quite hit the mark. I saw some comments along the lines of it being “boring” so, WWE is definitely going in the right direction as the PPVs of late have been quite entertaining. Night of Champions was no different.   Most feel the 3 rd and final “main event” with Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn battling the Bloodline in the form of Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoa was Match of the Night. I just have to say that Zayn addressing the crowd in Arabic was very heartwarming. It’s always nice to have real moments like that which put the whole event in proper prospective.   That did give way to

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts? Who’s opting for a BBQ? I’m doing our own version with the family. That’s why I’ll be watching at my leisure during the 5 o’clock hour on the California coast. Regardless, that doesn’t stop the Matches of Interest. They’re pretty obvious but that’s why we’re talking about them. Shall we? First up, word is that Seth Rollins and AJ Styles may open so, we’ll see if that comes to pass. This is interesting because first of all, for a “Heavyweight Championship”, these guys aren’t so heavy yet, that doesn’t mean there isn’t gravitas. Both of them have earned their stripes and we know that they can perform and entertain. It should be a good match but who would win? Well, the thing about this is, many of us know that Seth Rollins is filming since he has entered the MCU. I’m not sure of the schedule but what’s clear is, it’s probably not a good idea to put the Title on someone who probably won’t be around.  However, Rollins is terribly hot right now. With audiences

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts? The start of the Memorial Day Weekend doing you well? If it doesn’t apply, is Friday at least a good one, especially as it’s close to being over for many of us? I certainly hope all is well. As for the Wrestling World, it’s a slow news day. The key players for WWE are over in Saudi Arabia and AEW is here stateside doing its thing. There are a few tidbits to comment on so, let’s have a brief chat. In CM Punk news, word is some agreement has been made so Collision is now a “go”. I guess Punk and Tony Khan reached some agreement regarding Steel. Word is Steel will work remotely to appease Punk. So there’s that. It will be interesting to see how the crowd responds. The notion going around that Punk should go heel is not a bad one in this light, but I think it should be more humorous than pointed.  If the media scrum that started all this was in fact a work that missed the mark, it’s because Punk wasn’t being over-the-top enough. He played it too serious and pe

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts? It’s Go-Home Week for Night of Champions and in the Wrestling World, we got our fair share of speculation today. I wouldn’t say there’s a lot to talk about but enough to start a few conversations. Let’s take shot at it. So, if you’re wondering where things are in the CM Punk melodrama, Eric Bischoff has stepped in to basically concur with what a lot of commenters are saying in how it’s setting a bad example to let Punk have his own show. It establishes a questionable precedent. It allowed Bischoff to conclude that this is a demonstration of selfishness on Punk's part. Everything has to come to a halt because of no Ace Steel, whoever that is.  Well, from what I heard, Steel trained Punk back in the day but I could be wrong on that. Haven’t really felt the need to do the deep dive but I hear what Bischoff is saying. Well, we’ll see if AEW changes their mind. They have until June.  In the WWE Universe, the idea of turning the Street Profits and Bianca Bela

Happy Friday, Enthusiasts! How’s it going for you so far? I have a few headaches of the external kind but nothing I can’t handle. So, there was a little action this week. Definitely some stuff to talk about. It’s somewhat, same ole, same ole but with some slight twists. Let’s get into it. So, you probably don’t need me to tell you that CM Punk appears to be on the outs with AEW again. From what I’m reading, the sticking point this time around is Ace Steel. Apparently, he was supposed to be on this deal for AEW’s Saturday show, Collision . But management didn’t want Steel there and once it was clear Steel wasn’t going to be there, that’s when Punk peaced out. Punk also took to social media to squash all the noise and point out some wrestling insiders need to keep to their own business. Now, I’m not sure what to think here. It’s hard to tell if it’s real or not. Could this be misinformation to make Punk’s return a bigger surprise? Yet, on that note, I’m not sure it’s the right message to

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts? How was your weekend? Mine was productive. I’m going to make some moves soon and I was just scouting out the potential new destinations. We’ll see what works out.  As for the Wrestling World, there are some things to talk about. Not that much but enough to have a decent discussion. Shall we? We’ll start outside of WWE today as MJF returned to his indie origins recently. Apparently, AEW is taking a tour of the independent shows at present and it was only natural MJF return to his alma mater. Always nice to see when a person stays true to their roots. In the WWE Universe, there is some difficult news to contemplate with word coming from the Randy Orton camp that doctors have advised that Orton hang up the boots. The damage done may be irreversible and we all know Orton isn’t getting younger. It may be time to call it a day. Personally, I hope this is some sort of feint to set up a surprise return at SummerSlam or something but if it the prognosis is true, O

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts? Happy Friday. So, I wouldn’t say it’s a slow news day in the Wrestling World but there isn’t much for me to chat about so I’ll keep this short. Let’s get into it. First item of note is that there is talk that AEW has struck a “billion dollar deal” with Warner Discovery to air AEW content for the next 5 years. There’s no confirmation on this. Word is Tony Khan isn’t saying anything so, I guess we’ll just have to wait and see. On that note, it appears that CM Punk is set to return to AEW via the Collision PPV slated for June. Naturally, the event is to be held in Chicago and is supposed to focus on our grumpy grappler. It's going to be interesting to see how this goes down. Sounds like AEW is playing up the drama to help it go over with live crowds. We’ll have to see if they’re successful. I think they can be if they have a lot of fun with it. Like I keep saying, go ahead and make Punk the “Scourge of Wrestling”.  In the WWE Universe we got an update on M

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts? Did you enjoy BackLash this past weekend? It was a solid show. I didn’t even expect it to be that good. The Puerto Rican crowd definitely had a lot to do with that. They had an absolute blast. It’s what you like to see. It explains why we chose this obsession. Well, most would say that Bad Bunny vs. Damian Priest was Match of the Night and I would have to agree. In terms of sheer entertainment, it was the spectacle it was intended. When all the other wrestlers came in, I couldn’t really follow because I wasn’t familiar but again, the crowd loved it so who cares. I wasn’t going to be that person.  So, should we expect a Bad Bunny vs. Logan Paul match at some point? Summer Slam? Survivor Series maybe? 😉 Bunny sells the bumps better. I didn’t expect him to get up to speed so quickly but he showed up and nailed the assignment. Priest is a great sport. Being out there with the crowd singing Bunny’s entrance music must have been quite the experience.  I wouldn’t

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts? Well, I’m having a little bit of a time, keeping up because things appear to be changing in the streaming world. It would seem that we have to get used to the live feed. No more West Coast replay. DVR it or wait until the next day when it’s on-demand. This may be the first PPV I’ve got to go in to blind. Doesn’t mean I can’t talk about it.  So, for being one of the less popular PLEs/PPVs, this one is kinda intriguing. It’s one of those, “make or break” PPVs. People appear to be getting their “big chance”. For that, I’m going to talk about 4 matches as opposed to 3. I’ll try to be brief. Got other things to do. To start, I feel I have to say something about Bianca Belair vs. Iyo Sky. I’ve seen Sky in NXT matches and she can work a good match. I won’t say Belair can’t but her matches can run a little flat. Not sure what it is. Maybe she’s too serious or something. It feels too much like work and I have to stress how much better it is if everyone is having a

Happy Friday, Enthusiasts! I’m on the move this weekend but that doesn’t mean I don’t have time for wrasslin’. There’s not that much going on that has grabbed me but enough to have a moderate post. Let’s get into it. Let’s start out with some happy news as Pat McAfee welcomed a bundle of joy with his wife this week. I didn’t even know he was married. Not that it would lessen the moment or matter really, I just had no idea he tied the knot. Well, they now have a lovely little girl to cherish. Best wishes to the new family. Elsewhere in the WWE Universe, it sounds like Drew McIntyre has some thinking to do. Word is McIntyre is sitting out for the time being and speculation is that he may be planning on wrapping it up. Some think it may be a bargaining tactic. Well, I still feel that WWE is the best place for McIntyre.  Yet, if he wants more, intangibly speaking, AEW or New Japan may be better bets.  I don’t think of him as a skilled technician, so I don’t know if AEW is a good place and
