RAW Has HIAC Fallout...

Image
Happy Monday, Enthusiasts!   Well, Hell in a Cell has come and went and it was a well-executed show. Their low points were to be expected. MVP did what he could against Bobby Lashley with the help of Omos but Cedric Alexander fumbled things again. Then MadCap Moss did all that he could to get some traction, but Baron Corbin’s bad attitude may have outshined him anyway. Even so, these matches entertained enough to say HIAC was a success but that doesn’t mean some things couldn’t be improved.   Before I get into all that, let me just give honorable mention to the Ladies, Asuka, Bianca Belair and Becky Lynch. They performed admirably and went out there and earned their paychecks. Nothing to be ashamed of. Belair retained because she’s the new kid but after that, I say it should be anyone’s title to take. As long as the winner can maintain an entertaining reign, it’s theirs for the taking. I think that should be the motivation going forward. You can’t just have the title. You have

RAW Will Take Your Memorial Day & Raise You Hell in a Cell...

Happy Memorial Day, Enthusiasts!   We’re in Go Home Territory for Hell in a Cell but we’ve got some wrestling news to toss around first. So, let’s get right into it.   We’ll start with the most prevalent news. MJF had everyone going as he bailed on his meet and greets to make it look like he was going on strike before he opened AEW’s PPV in a loss to Wardlow this past Sunday. When I first heard about this, I didn’t believe it for a minute because this kid likes to play the angles and tossing it all away due to a bloated ego seems like character work not true plot because if it were true plot, the kid’s an idiot and he doesn’t come off that way. It’s clear MJF is thinking about it and in the process is proving kayfabe is alive and well.   I would say it’s more in effect than general fans really admit. Sure, it’s all pre-determined but that doesn’t mean we know what’s actually going on regardless of how commenters act like they have the inside scoop. Accept that we don’t know

SmackDown Follows RAW's Lead for Hell in a Cell...

Happy Friday, Enthusiasts!   How’s everyone doing? There are a few things floating around the wrestling world so, let’s dive right into ‘em. This shouldn’t take too long.   The biggest bit of news is the change of venue for this year’s Money in the Bank PPV. WWE apparently tried to hype it up along with UFC week in Vegas but people aren’t exactly clamoring to buy tickets so they moved it to a smaller venue. I suggested a while ago that WWE should book smaller venues in general until they sort themselves out. Looks like reality is pushing them to the same conclusion anyway.   All I was getting at is that it’s clear that WWE must figure out its Vision. Spectators aren’t impressed with their general fare. AEW is more exciting just because it isn’t WWE. WWE has to accept these facts and work with them. Developing a Vision won’t happen overnight but if they hedge their bets in the meantime, they can easily save face while they sort it all out. As I keep saying, the talent isn’t

SmackDown Gets the Hell in a Cell Message...

Happy Friday, Enthusiasts!   I hope it’s treating you well. So, there are a few things to chat about this time around. Let’s get right into it.   I’ll start with Stephanie McMahon’s leave of absence first since the Naomi and Sasha Banks situation lends a lot of speculation. Stephanie taking a break, however, can be seen as a long time coming. Though, I doubt she has the most taxing schedule. I get the feeling she could pretty much come and go as she pleased but that doesn’t mean that she hasn’t been doing that consistently over the past 20 years. Moreover, with the kids breaching the teenage years and Triple H’s health questionable, it may just be a good time to head on home and take care of the more important things in life. I doubt anyone can really blame her. We’ll see if she ever comes back. Though that’s wholly her prerogative, I’m also pretty sure WWE will carry on with or without her. Let her take all the time that she needs.   Okay, onto the Naomi/Banks situation. T

RAW Applies the New Narrative...Hell in a Cell...

Happy Monday to You, Enthusiasts.   I hope it finds you well. So, there are some things floating around the wrestling world. Are you ready to get into it? It’s not that much. You can handle it.   The most interesting news is that Ric Flair is training for one more match in Nashville during Summer Slam week. I don’t know what makes him think that people want to see his old-ass wrestle again. He’s way too old. It’s just fact. The whole thing screams of desperation not nostalgia. All people want him to do is live out his golden years in peace. I would honestly question anyone who would want to watch that match. It lends more to sick curiosity than a must-see show. Hopefully, someone can get some sense into the man before it’s all too late.   The other bit of news wafting through is that Roman Reigns is planning to become a part-timer. Well, it sounds more like he’ll be given a little more freedom with his schedule than anything else which I guess is fine. I wouldn’t go so far

Anyone Still Up for Hell In a Cell?...

A Good Sunday to You, Enthusiasts! So, I see a good deal of people felt a little undercut by the first SmackDown of the New Era.   Fair enough but I think we shouldn’t miss the real point here.   The WWE made a fair attempt at decent storytelling.   I understand that the bulk of the WWE Universe doesn’t feel this should have be done at Kofi Kingston’s expense yet, it’s merely what I touched on before and on the Twitters.   This is a more “realistic” outcome.   Rumor has it that FOX wants SmackDown to have a more realistic tone and this appears to be the initial attempt and I’m intrigued.   So, what the WWE now must do is validate this move.   They have to if they actually want to establish the drama.   I’m up for it…pleasantly surprised actually.   It’s one of the few things I didn’t expect. I would have to assume that this will be addressed tonight somewhere because judging by the advertised card, there’s a lot of room for “surprises”.   Only 4 matches scheduled either me

SmackDown Only Has Mercy For the Worthy...

Image
How Goes It, Enthusiasts! Well, RAW didn’t so much take us home for No Mercy as dropped us off around the corner but, let’s face it.  We’ve all sat through worse of their offerings.  The shining light came in Bayley making her return from the Disabled List.  Match wise, the Tag Teams in Dean Ambrose & Seth Rollins, Sheamus & Cesaro and uh…Anderson & Gallows was the most entertaining though a little cheesy at times.  Honorable Mentions to Jason Jordan and Bo Dallas doing their best to make their programs interesting at the end of the show.  Though, I’d usually say to dial it back, they’re in the Big Leagues so, I appreciate them going for broke.  Outside of that, it was promos galore and everyone basically did their job…I’ll leave it at that. So, going into No Mercy, SmackDown doesn’t necessarily need to do RAW any favors.  They’ve got their Hell in a Cell to prepare for and then there is the looming drama of Kevin Owens vs. The McMahon Family.  We’ll see what S

Oh That's Right...RAW Will Soon Be Upon Us...

What can we expect this evening, Enthusiasts? Oh, I'm sure much of the usual.  Some heavy pushing for this supposedly exciting match between Brock Lesnar and the Big Show this weekend, I'm sure.  Wow, that one seems like an act of desperation.  With no real lead up or attachment to any loose plot in action, I'm guessing it's just supposed to be a spectacle but of what, I don't really want to know.  I hope they have a lot of filler that evening 'cause I can't see that match going more than 20 minutes or being all that fun to watch for that matter. In any case, the prep is now for Hell in a Cell which I am comfortably lukewarm about.  I took a little break last week, skipping the TweetFest but now I'm getting back into the flow of things...see if the WWE spits out anything interesting.  We shall see as always, Enthusiasts.  Funny tweets get retweeted and who knows, a Favorite may just come along after all (^_~) See You in a Bit, -Nicole Alexis.
