SmackDown Sees What Else Is Going On...

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts?   Happy Friday! There are a few things we can chat about but this has been a kinda slow week. It’s only natural to have a lull from time to time. Makes the big events feel bigger. This should keep this a fairly short post so, let’s get into it so we can get on with our weekend. Here we go.   In the Realm of AEW, the focus is on All In at the end of the month. All the action and preparation is geared towards that. This doesn’t have too much to directly do with The Future but that’s all right. There’s plenty of time for that.   What I will say is that MJF is continuing to do his job. He is making it quite clear he can be a dick in his sleep so that’s perfect for executing Strike 1. That’s all it really needs, someone dick enough to do it.   Our Man Moxley doesn’t have any crossover business with MJF or Don Callis at the moment but that could easily change in the months to come. As for now, it looks like Jack “Jungle Boy” Per...

RAW Takes a Moment to Collect Itself...

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts?   Welcome to a new week! There’s not much going on at the start so, I can promise a relatively short post but I will say that the future, in general, is looking quite promising. Wrestling seems to be in the process of evolving and I welcome this manifestation. There’s life in the industry yet. Let us observe. In the meantime, let’s just get caught up in the current goings-on, shall we?   In the Realm of AEW, things are building slowly to All In at the end of the month. Last week’s Collision , had some tidbits for the Future as the Riders of Death were in action. What caught my eye was the promo Our Man Moxley cut on the Bang Bang Gang. He doesn’t seem to have a problem with his upcoming opponent, Jack Perry. But that fucking Bang Bang Gang better not cross his path or there’s gonna be all kinds of hell to pay.   With a name like “Bang Bang Gang”, I can understand some dislike but Mox got up to a 7.5 on the Crazy Meter. Dang, what d...

Saturday Night: Main Event (VIII)

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts? Welcome to Saturday Night: Main Event ! I think it will be an interesting time. I’m not expecting to have my mind blown but I don’t expect to demand my money back either.  Since I’ve been rambling on recently, this shouldn’t be too long. I’m looking at the underdogs tonight. I’m curious about Lyra Valkyria vs. Bayley and Danhausen vs. JD McDonagh.  Valkyria and Bayley caught my eye because this appears to be following the Game of Thrones motif, more in practice than in the figurative which I don’t mind. Bayley is Our Arya Stark and let’s face it, probably the closest we’re gonna get from here on out so, why not let her serve as a proverbial alternate universe version.  If Arya Stark were say…living in this time, and had to make her living, Bayley’s path would be feasible. So, you could say, she’d know how to handle a Valkyria. Technically, it’s “family” if we’re going to go with the House Arryn interpretation. They too have a touch of madness...

SmackDown Sets the Scene for SNME...

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts?   Happy Friday! Bed is gonna feel good tonight, I know it. But before that there’s a few things we can discuss concerning the Wrestling World. Most of it isn’t anything new but it should give me at least 1,000 words to type so let’s get on with it. Everyone wants to get to their weekend.   In the Realm of AEW, the pieces for the Future are being subtly laid. I wouldn’t suspect a thing so that’s promising. I can see that a clash for Papa Christian and Uncle Edge could be on the horizon as they have some business with the Riders of Death. Also, I noticed that the showdown between Kenny Omega and Will Ospreay could potentially be derailed by Kevin Knight as Omega and Knight are set to box later in the month. Knight now affiliated with the Don Callis Family could present an opportunity to “screw” Omega over but as I keep saying, that is not necessary just something to keep in mind should they want to supplement Omega’s wrestling lore.   ...

RAW Says Get Ready for SNME...

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts?   Welcome to a new week! Well, when a door closes, the Gods open up a window, don’t they? The return of Baron Corbin to the WWE Universe is a delight but we’ll get into that later. There’s not much for me to report on today so, this should be a relatively short post but you know, I can always start rambling. Let’s see where I end up. Here we go.   Over in the Realm of AEW, the groundwork for the future is definitely being laid given what I witnessed on the most recent Collision . As for the Future specifically, I’ll just say Our Man Moxley is starting to posture in a way that’s “strangely familiar”. Uh-oh. Here it comes. As I’ve said, “Strike 1” can go down any time between now and the end of the year but the way I’m seeing things, it’s looking like that hammer is gonna fall sooner than later.   I don’t mind this but with MJF and shall we say, Chicago factoring more than originally anticipated, I would guestimate kick-off, one way ...

SmackDown Keeps Its Head Down. Does Its Job...

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts?   Welcome to the weekend. Well, there’s not much to report but I’ve got a couple things to talk about. It’s an interesting time in the Wrestling World, I think. I’m sure many have some things to gripe about but when is that not the case. I don’t think there’s been a time there wasn’t someone bitching but it is what it is. In any case, this could go a little long but I hope it’s captivating enough. I’ll try not to bore you. Let’s dive in.   In the Realm of AEW, it would seem that MJF is angling for a bigger part in the Future. After CM Punk returned to wrench the Undisputed Title from Sami Zayn’s hands he posted a face-swapped image of Punk as Hulk Hogan when he did something similar back in the day. He quickly deleted the image but that didn’t stop other posters from picking up on the sentiment and posting their own. Now, many are calling Punk “CM Hogan” or some rendition thereof.   I’ll get into my take of this move when I speak o...

RAW Maintains the Narrative...

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts?   Well, some stuff went down over the weekend, didn’t it. Guess something had to with it being so quiet. We won’t jump right into it but what I’m gonna talk about may have some correlation. Let’s take a little time and unpack.   So, we’ll start with the curmudgeonly ravings of Jim Cornette who had nothing good to say about WWE or AEW recently. WWE is too manufactured and AEW is full of wannabe jokers no one wants to emulate. What’s a person to do who wants some good old fashioned wrasslin’? Well, that is a good question. Probably stay in the past with the old footage available for consumption.   Most commenters pretty much hit it on the head that Cornette is coming off like the old man that he is here. The good old days have their charm but that was then and this is now. Like I’ve said before, I treat my wrestling just like Parkour. Always move forward. I may refer back to something just to comment but once it’s done, it’s done and...

Saturday Night: Main Event (VII)

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts? Happy Memorial Day Weekend. So, I made comments on all the things I really wanted to say and looking at tonight’s card. This is an interesting time indeed. On paper, this is a mid-card show. The “meat & potatoes” are being saved for Clash In Italy so this show should be telling. Everyone we see tonight, is basically singing for their supper. Less so for the Ladies. The Lady Stars seem to be proctoring their matches but the men have to keep themselves in the conversation with this one. What should we care? Why should we watch? The assignment for those we witness tonight is “make it work”. It’s the wrestling version of Project Runway. Who will “make the cut”? I’m not going to speculate. As you can see, these are strange times and I promised a short post. Let’s see who earns their keep and I’ll talk about it come Monday. And remember that won’t be a “Go Home Show” ‘cause look where they’re going, abroad. Then it will be the stars’ turn. Let’s relax and obs...

SmackDown Leads Us into the Saturday Night: Main Event...

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts?   Happy Friday! Goodness, this has been an eventful week, hasn’t it? Well, it appears to be ending on a more hopeful note but there’s a lot going on outside of the Ludwig Kaiser/El Grande Americano II incident. This is probably gonna be a long post so, perhaps get into it after the show. This Memorial Day Weekend is jam packed! Let’s break it down.   We’ll start in the Realm of AEW as they’re getting ready for their Double or Nothing PPV that’s going down on Sunday. They had a double-header show this week holding both Dynamite and Collision together. Per usual, I’m overseeing The Future and if I didn’t know better, we got our first tastes of what’s to come in the Part 1 of the showdown between Kyle O’Reilly and Jon Moxley. As we know, O’Reilly ain’t scared of Mox. If anyone’s got Mox’s number, it’s O’Reilly so this was a loaded match in that respect. It was no surprise that it went the distance and I appreciated how O’Reilly had no problem ...
