The Royal Rumble Is Over! - And Now, RAW Has Fallout....

Image
A Merry Monday to You, Enthusiasts. How did you enjoy the Royal Rumble? I would say the general consensus is that it wasn’t bad but there were definitely some things left to be desired but overall, not disappointing. Most didn’t care for the match order either though in retrospect, I can see why WWE did what they did but hopefully it was with a mind for tonight otherwise, a more traditional order would have sufficed. Let’s break it down a bit, shall we? So, we were all a little surprised that the Rumble opened with the Men’s Rumble. I would have left this for the end, especially with Cody Rhodes winning. Leaving the Universal Title match for last left the event on a “down” note so that’s why I’m hoping it was to segue into tonight’s RAW . Word is that Rhodes is going to open to follow-up his win so that may have been the point.  Personally, it felt like a strange move because what’s to keep people in the seats for the rest of the show? Though the Women’s Rumble kept pace with the Men’s

Royal Rumble 2023

Happy Royal Rumble, Enthusiasts!   So, this will be a fairly short post because the Royal Rumble appears to be just that this year, The Rumble. I’m thinking it opens with the Women and closes with the Men with the Title Matches sandwiching the Pitch Black match. I like the “to the point” approach. Let’s hope it all works out.   So, given there is and isn’t a lot to talk about, I’ll keep this post simple. For the Women’s Rumble, I couldn’t even begin to think who wins because it all depends on who wins the RAW Women’s Title. If Bianca Belair retains, it all depends on who makes a believable opponent. Alexa Bliss is only a contender due to “Crazy” being on her side so, I don’t know how long that lasts.   As much as we don’t mind suspending a little disbelief, we will only go so far. On top of that, we like a fight! So, it’s hard to get jazzed for a fight with someone who’s 90lbs unless you’re a fan or both parties are waifs. So, I guess if Bliss wins, we can maybe expect Liv

SmackDown Does Double the Go-Home for the Royal Rumble....

Happy Royal Rumble Eve, Enthusiasts! Too much? Can’t be that excited about the Rumble? 😉 Well, my curiosity level is higher than usual this time around. I think it’ll be fun. I don’t know what to expect but with WWE having generally found a respectable stride of late, I’m not so much worried about how they’ll fuck it up, just curious to see what they try. I would have to say that’s an improvement from recent years, wouldn’t you?  In any case, there’s plenty going on in the Wrestling World but not much of it grabs me so let’s just chat about the more interesting bits shall we? One thing that I found noteworthy is how the Bella Twins appear to be championing women’s representation in the WWE and appear to be strong supporters of Sasha Banks a.k.a. Mercedes Moné. Well, it appears that WWE wasn’t having any of that and uninvited them from this past Monday’s 30 th Anniversary Special. I have to say I’m kinda impressed by the show of solidarity. I’m not sure if it really amounts to anythin

RAW's 30th Anniversary Celebration!!!

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts? Well, the big news tonight is that it’s RAW’s 30th Anniversary so all the talk is on who’s slated to appear and any potential surprises. We can expect the Undertaker, Shawn Michaels and Ric Flair alongside the ubiquitous “and more”. Booker T and Lita are said to be part of the “and more” lot. While we gear up for that, Grayson Waller kicked up some attention for NXT as he “invited himself” to the WWE Performance Center to rustle up some trouble with Bron Breakker. When I first saw the headline I was like, what happened here but then I got the gist of it and it’s just standard shittalk and tussle fun.  The social media touch is just a sign of the times. It was fun. Sometimes you gotta go and shake things up. The WWE Universe tends to be tempestuous. It’s conflictual by nature. That’s what we all come here for. To settle numerous differences even if it is just “boredom”. I look forward to more of this “impromptu” action online. The industry has to evolve if

SmackDown Tries to Stay Positive Ahead of the Royal Rumble...

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts? This is kind of a bizarre and upsetting week. A lot of mishaps and accidents in the news. As many of you know, the Wrestling World was not spared. Let’s chat a bit about what’s going on. First off, sincere condolences to the family of Jay Briscoe. I didn’t see much of The Briscoes but I definitely heard of them and they seemed like a lot of fun. I know the homophobic statements that they made a few years ago have haunted them recently but they seemed to get the point of wrasslin’ and tag-teaming.  Briscoe died in a car accident and the kicker is that he apparently wasn’t wearing his seatbelt. We can’t help but feel if he had just taken that precaution, he may have survived. No doubt he’d be banged up but alive. It sounds like his daughters are still hospitalized but they are in stable condition thankfully. Such a shame. It goes to remind you that there is no guarantee that any of us will live one moment longer. Enjoy all the time that you have. Let your lov

RAW Reminds Us that the Royal Rumble Is Coming...

Happy Monday, Enthusiasts.   I hope it’s one you get to enjoy. Not everyone gets today off so take advantage of it if you can. As for what’s going on in the Wrestling World, well not much change from last week so I won’t have that much to say but there are few things we can chat about so lets get into it.   So, the news that has most people sniffing around still concerns the return of Mr. Vince McMahon. Word is that he’s slowly but surely making his presence known but as far as everyone is saying, he’s staying out of Creative. The thing everyone is afraid of is his return to Creative. Would he get back in there just despite general consensus?   Like I said last post, I wouldn’t worry about it unless the content starts to decline. Triple H has been keeping more or less to the old format but when it comes to the more popular stars, he’s been adding a little intrigue, more than I’m used to seeing so I’m not worried just yet. However, what they have to guard against is forgetti

SmackDown Isn't Worried About a Sale, Just the Royal Rumble...

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts? Not sure how to feel about things in the WWE Universe? Well, that’s okay. When long-standing structures face upheaval or major change, it can unsettle a person. It’s not uncommon. Regardless of your personal opinion, WWE has been a mainstay for decades. Can you really even imagine it outside of McMahon hands? Well, we’ll see if that actually happens first. Let’s chat some more about it. So, what we have so far is that many of the big players have come out to potentially throw their hats in the ring. Of those that seem to be circulating the rumor mill is that Saudi Arabia is interested but most in the West aren’t completely comfortable with that option given their history. Many feel that would put an expiration date on Sami Zayn’s status on the roster as well given his ties to Syria.  Disney is also sniffing around but they are currently having their own management shakeup at the moment. Moreover, though they too like turning a profit, they tend to do so by

RAW Will Redirect Our Focus to the Royal Rumble...

Happy Monday, Enthusiasts. It’s a wet one in Southern California. We’ve been bemoaning a drought and now we’re half-drowning. It’s a feast or famine sort of place 😉 As for the Wrestling World, there’s some things to talk about. Not much change from last Friday but a bit of fallout has come so let’s chat about it, shall we? So, the general consensus is that no one really wants Mr. McMahon back, at least not in a creative capacity. There is speculation that’s the next move but word is that as long as Triple H keeps the ratings decent, we shouldn’t have to worry about The Chairman taking the driver’s seat. Can’t say he won’t backseat drive from time to time but I would think that would be expected as long as he’s breathing.  I posted not too long ago that the best way to do something like this was on the DL. Looks like I might have been right. I suppose there are some legalities to consider with that route but given the backlash and apprehension, it would have probably allowed for things

The First SmackDown of 2023 Sees the Return of Vince McMahon...

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts? Happy Friday. Well, you know what I’m gonna talk about. Let’s get right into it, shall we? So, Mr. Vince McMahon is back at the helm at the start of Q1 it would seem. Word is he’s back to handle all the media deals back up for review and naturally discuss terms for a potential sale. Personally, I don’t see a problem as long as he sticks to the business end of things. We all know Triple H isn’t where he is due to his fiscal acumen.  Many fans and commenters, however, feel it’s just the beginning of the return to creative misery in the WWE Universe. Well, I would believe that more if what H was doing wasn’t working. We’ve all been a lot happier with the content and I think Mr. McMahon is a type that will let something be if it’s effective.  So, what was all these years of crap we had to suffer through, you might ask. To me, that was internal boredom. I really think Creative was generally sick of itself. They were sticking to an old, played-out model that didn
