Crown Jewel VI 2024 - RAW Fallout

Image
How’s It Going, Enthusiasts? Did you have a chance to catch Crown Jewel VI? It was a solid show from start to finish. There really wasn’t a bad match. Some commenters may disagree but given how PPVs were hit or miss not too long ago, WWE has nothing to be upset about with last weekend’s display. It was what a wrestling show ought to be. Why don’t we talk a little about it, among other things? Most would say that GUNTHER vs. Cody Rhodes was Match of the Night though I preferred Kevin Owens kicking it old school and going ballistic on Randy Orton. I don’t know where it goes but I’m fine with Owens “keeping it real”.  Some people griped about the Bloodline Match with Roman Reigns losing clean to Solo Sikoa. Many also noted how this match had the least “wrestling” as well which should have been expected. The Bloodline and all those associated have never been great wrestlers. They are “ass-kickers” for all intents and purposes. If you’re looking to them for a fine wrestling match, you’r...

RAW Kicks Everyone Out for Crown Jewel...

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts?   A merry Monday to you! So, there’s not that much for me to talk about. Things are going on but nothing that’s rattling the cage enough for me to talk about it much. Given that, this should be a brief post. Care to take a little time to read through anyway? Here it goes.   Let’s begin with our brief stop in the Realm of AEW. The BCC took it a little easy this past week as Yuta Wheeler explained himself. That’s all fine and good. I hope he paves a respectable path for himself.   I’ll just close on the matter by dropping my final submission into the Suggestion Box.   Towards the end of this ordeal, I think it’s fine for people to start lightly “Dead Naming” Mox. Naturally, this should come mostly from former WWE stars but it should be kinda subtle. Like, someone saying something along the likes of “I knew a guy by the name of Ambrose who did something similar…” or “This seems like something someone called ‘Dean’ would say…” Som...

RAW Sends Everyone Home for Bad Blood...

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts?   Making the most of a Monday? I guess you have to. There is quite a bit to chat about, depending on your interest, but I’m only going to talk about a few things. Just going with a broad overview. Though there’s much to choose from, I’ve only got words for a few. Up for hearing them? Let’s get into it.   First thing is first, whether you like him or not, congratulations are in order for Mr. Logan Paul. He’s a proud Papa as he and his fiancée welcomed their 1 st child last week. I’m sure the reality is sinking in and changing our braggart at a core level. Will he be as fun to boo going forward? Can’t say but I do wish his new family well. Mazel Tov!   In other news, for The Simpsons fans out there, John Cena got his debut but most agree that the Simpson-ification didn’t quite take with him. A commentor got it right, I think, by noticing Cena was drawn without a chin and that’s one of his more distinguishing features. Can’t say I ...

SmackDown High Tails It with the WrestleMania Finish Line in Sight...

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts? Happy WrestleMania Eve! So, there’s plenty going on of course but only a few things that caught my interest. This is going to be a full weekend so I’ll keep the posts short. You’ll probably get tired of me. We’ll be talking until Tuesday. Let’s get to it. So, we’ll start with some promising news as Big E. gave us a status update. He’s mending but still not mended from what I hear. The key to when Big E. can return relies on how the bones in his neck ossify . Hard to say when that process completes but he is rehabilitating all that he can in the meantime and remains hopeful as he always has been. Naturally, we’re all hoping for his safe return but of course we don’t want to rush him. If Bryan Danielson/Daniel Bryan is any indication of how long a neck injury takes to fully heal, this may take 2-3 years. We’ll wait. In other news, Mr. Vince McMahon has legally and officially laid claim to…himself. He has been reinstated, to a degree, as Chairman for the next ...

SmackDown Wraps Up Elimination Chamber Fallout...

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts? It’s a rainy one over here in Southern California. I’m rained in for the next couple of days so, all I have to do is hope the power doesn’t go out and I should be fine. Hope everyone is staying warm and dry. As for the Wrestling World, meh, there have been more exciting weeks but that doesn’t mean I couldn’t find something to talk about. Let’s have a little chat. It appears Jeff Hardy has received his consequences for his DUI last year. He got slapped with a decent fine, court fees and his driver’s license is suspended for the next 10 years. It was his 3 rd DUI offense in the past 10 years so, it could be viewed as a somewhat lenient punishment. Sounds like he’ll also have to go to rehab and perform some community service.  It’s probably best that Hardy takes this time to get healthy and contemplate the future. General consensus is that he’s pretty beat up from all his years of wrasslin’ so he should probably get in shape, get clean and assess how he wa...

RAW Has Elimination Chamber Fallout (2023)...

Image
How’s It Going, Enthusiasts? Enjoying your 3-day weekend? I’m like the rest of the world and had to work on this day. I’ve had to do that before but in this case it just seems kinda strange because this place of business otherwise adheres to U.S. Federal Holidays. Just not Presidents’ Day 🤷 Well, it’s not the first time I’ve had to work a Holiday. I’ll live. Let’s see what’s going on in the world of wrestling. So, as we all know, Elimination Chamber was last Saturday and it was a lot of fun. I was pleased. It was a tad bit predictable but I don’t want my money back. In most opinions, Roman Reigns vs. Sami Zayn was match of the night and I think we have to give credit to the crowd for that one. They were rivaling Seattle Seahawks fans. Didn’t think Canadians had it in ‘em 😉  There’s some pissy chatter that Reigns didn’t win clean but I don’t know when that will actually be an issue. Let’s wait for another wrestler to bring it up as beef against him. I can see Cody Rhodes playing t...

The Royal Rumble Is Over! - And Now, RAW Has Fallout....

Image
A Merry Monday to You, Enthusiasts. How did you enjoy the Royal Rumble? I would say the general consensus is that it wasn’t bad but there were definitely some things left to be desired but overall, not disappointing. Most didn’t care for the match order either though in retrospect, I can see why WWE did what they did but hopefully it was with a mind for tonight otherwise, a more traditional order would have sufficed. Let’s break it down a bit, shall we? So, we were all a little surprised that the Rumble opened with the Men’s Rumble. I would have left this for the end, especially with Cody Rhodes winning. Leaving the Universal Title match for last left the event on a “down” note so that’s why I’m hoping it was to segue into tonight’s RAW . Word is that Rhodes is going to open to follow-up his win so that may have been the point.  Personally, it felt like a strange move because what’s to keep people in the seats for the rest of the show? Though the Women’s Rumble kept pace with the M...

It's Survivor Series + War Games!!!

And I have no idea what to expect. But that’s not necessarily a bad thing. WWE has been crippled by its own monotony for years so I commend the experiment but that’s just it. This is a blatant experiment. If they’ve been done in the past, it’s been quite some time so, how it will land is the big question.  To be honest, I think the key tonight may be to not try so hard and to make sure they have fun. I had the idea that they should come out with banners à la Game of Thrones/House of the Dragon but I would be satisfied with a digital version. The real thing does take time to make.  My point is, due to the uncertainty of how this will go over, they should just aim to make a good time of it. They all know what they more or less have to do out there. They have to get us engaged in faux fisticuffs. Stick to the prime directive and it should be all right. All that said, there are a couple matches I am curious about. The first of which is the SmackDown Women’s Championship match with...

SmackDown Closes Backlash

Image
How’s It Going, Enthusiasts? I’ve definitely been better but I can’t complain. So, what’s going on in the Wrestling World? Well, it that much but there’s some speculation going around. Let’s get into it, shall we? Well, it looks like the inevitable is in the works. MJF appears to prepping for his jump to WWE and that seems the next logical step. I have no problem with this. The issue appears to stem from the fact that MJF’s contract isn’t up until 2024 so...talk is a little early. It’s fine to kick around but we’re not there yet. Nevertheless, this may be the time both sides start to flesh out how to cleanly make this transition.  In my mind, the first feud is naturally with The Miz. The similarities are obvious and should be addressed right from the start. Maryse should be the real defining difference. MJF, as of now, has no female counter. If that remains the case by the time of the acquisition, that’s the main thing The Miz has over on him. At least Miz has the hot wife a...

Brock Lesnar Takes the Wheel on SmackDown...

How’s Are You Doing, Enthusiasts? I hope you all are doing well. So, there are a few things we can talk about tonight. Let’s not waste any time and get into it. So, in WWE news, they’re planning a PPV in the UK in September. That should be interesting. I don’t know what the theme is or what we’ll even be contemplating then but that is something new, I suppose. I’m all for these sorts of experiments. No harm in it. What raises an eyebrow is that AEW plans to have its PPV on the same day so it’ll be a head-to-head in views. That said, let’s see if WWE rises to the challenge. Most people bailed because WWE tends to phone it in regardless of having a stacked roster, AEW tends to have heart and that is endearing. We’ll see if WWE ups the “entertainment” value as we approach September.  In more AEW focused news, it appears that they are considering acquiring Bret Hart. They’ve already invested in the memory of Owen Hart so they might as well get Bret. I have no problem with this. ...

RAW Keeps the Royal Rumble Go-Home Show Low Key...

A Good Monday to You, Enthusiasts,   The wrestling world has some grumblings making the rounds. Let us chat about it for a bit. What else would we do 😉   So, #FreeAli is a thing now and the pseudo-Kaepernick vibes with it. It’s drumming up talk. Commenters have plenty to say but I’m not sure where this all goes. Does Ali become some sort of activist from here on out? Does he find a place at AEW? Somewhere else? Or does WWE give him a valid shot, quieting all naysayers? I really don’t know. Whatever happens, I just hope that it's fair. I’ve already said that WWE shouldn’t hold on to him if they have no plans for him. Ali has been vocal and proactive in getting on TV and performing palatable content. You can’t say he wasn’t trying to work with WWE. WWE doesn’t need to look petty right now. It generally has to counter a lot of bad press. They need to either let Ali go with a healthy severance and minimal non-compete or they give him a fair push and see where it goes. WWE...

SmackDown Provides a Beacon Through No-Mans' Land....

Image
Happy Friday, Enthusiasts!   It’s especially happy for me because I was able to prevent a need to get up early on Saturday so, I’m stoked 😉 As for the rumblings in the wrestling world, there are a few things I can kick around. Let’s jump into it. So, we’ll start with AEW this time around. For whatever reason, the ratings are falling for them. Some say it’s due to the Saturday shows that didn’t draw well and maybe so-so programming. Whether anyone wants to admit it or not, WWE has been pretty solid in recent weeks, even with RAW. Yeah, there’s still repetition but it’s been well-executed and we all know that AEW can put on a sloppy display. So, what I’m getting at is that this shouldn’t be much of a surprise. WWE’s problem has always been content, not talent, not production values. They just aren’t very creative over there. Outside of that, it’s professionally produced television. As for AEW, that’s not always easy to say. They may have more fun and are more open creatively b...
