SmackDown Is Never Not Ready to Go!...

Image
How Goes It, Enthusiasts! So, RAW was RAW last night, though that wasn’t a disappointment.  Far from it, actually.  The Ladies in Asuka and Sasha Banks kept the momentum going for the Women’s Division with a great match that had Asuka break The Boss with a submission hold but both ladies performed wonderfully.  The rest of the night had its ups and downs but with the Female Royal Rumble a success, there appears to be some fresh blood injected into this WWE air. Now, SmackDown has to keep the party going and it looks like it plans to.  Apparently, Daniel Bryan and Shane McMahon will be looking to the roster to elect the SmackDown’s “Top 10”.  From these chosen, the title matches and overall booking will be dictated.  SmackDown stars are not allowed to elect themselves, is one of the stipulations.  Everyone will have to state who they deem worthy.  Could be interesting. As for tonight’s offerings, looks like we’ll be getting some Wrestlemania starters as AJ Styles and Shin

We Rumbled. Now It's Back to Getting RAW...

A Good Monday to You, Enthusiasts! Well, the Royal Rumble ended up being a lot of fun in the end with the Ladies showing that they can rumble with the best of them.   I have to say Lita was one of my favorite surprises, along with Beth Phoenix.   And  I know some of you know her but I was glad to get introduced to Molly Holly as well.   She came ready to go, like she never left.    All the ladies did and I was super proud.  Yay! Well, now that that’s over it’s back to the regularly scheduled programming.   So, since the Rumble closed with Ronda Rousey making her WWE debut, speculation on how she’ll fit in begins.   For me, u h, I don’t know…She actually fights.   I suppose they could give her a taste of the old days first with that Sonya Deville chick.    Just seems like throwing her in with likes of the Asuka, Charlotte and Alexa Bliss would be a bit out of place.     Get the feeling Charlotte could probably hold her own, though.    Tamina and Nia Jax I'm sure aren't sca

Shall We Partake in the Royal Rumble?...

Why Certainly 😉 A Merry Royal Rumble to You, Enthusiasts! Well, you all know what this night is!   It’s going to be a night full of wrestling madness and hopefully, we’re left buzzing at the end of it all.   It’s hard to say because going into this, I have no idea what to expect. True, we do have some history to witness as the women inaugurate the first Women’s Royal Rumble match but I can’t even remotely say who’ll come out on top.   If I’m just looking at it, kayfabe aside, I’d put my money on Nia Jax because everyone is half her size but since we know the winner has been decided I would maybe say Natalya, cause I'm partial.   Maybe Ruby Riott just because she’s been holding it down and it builds steam for the NXT upstarts.   Can’t say that I know for sure.   As for the usual Rumble, again no idea but I’m kinda keeping my fingers crossed for Kevin Owens.   I don’t know.   It’d probably be fun.   You know it wouldn’t be clean and it allows for al

Yeah, Well, SmackDown's Still Here Too!...

Greetings, Enthusiasts! Though the hit & miss night of RAW ’s 25 th Anniversary is done and dusted, I’m sure you’ve all heard the news about Enzo Amore.  Allegations are that he raped a woman back in October and the poor lady has recently went public with her story.  If the allegations are true, I feel for the lady.  Can’t say I would be all that interested in the likes of Enzo Amore, semi-celebrity or otherwise.  Naturally, the WWE quickly severed ties with him so, for all those who couldn’t stand him, you get your wish.  He is no more.  Doubtful he’ll be missed, especially with this bad press, but it is sad to see that the #MeToo Movement has found its way to the WWE.  Though this universe is no stranger to sexual innuendo, it’s generally believed that nothing that goes down is actually untoward.  We presume there’s some degree of consent.  That’s what keeps the space a sort of “final sanctuary” for all of us with cheeky senses of humor.  It’s unfortunate that has been sli

And Then There Was RAW...

Happy Monday, Enthusiasts! Tonight, we will celebrate all that is RAW  for 25 years ago was its inception.  I was around but I certainly wasn’t watching.  That didn’t happen until a few years later when I made it to high school.  Has it made an impression?  For me, more on the Human Psyche than anything else.  Don't get me wrong, I lost my mind many a time during the Attitude Era but, we must admit that its longevity speaks to some aspect of human nature.  Though we are to praise RAW this night, we have to admit there were a lot of crappy episodes and yet we watched and still watch.  The phenomenon, whether good or bad, carries on like the mail.  Rain or shine, sleet or snow, RAW  delivers.  You may not always like it, but it's there, as scheduled every time.   You grow to accept it, regardless of its iteration.  That is the mark of a successful institution. And so, we will honor this success and hopefully wallow in the awesome spectacle that is and has been RAW .  Sin

SmackDown's Glad It's Free...

Come one, come all! Greetings Enthusiasts! How’s this Tuesday going for you?  I have to say that RAW made more sense than I can remember in recent memory.  Yes, Braun Strowman getting “fired” was a bit much but it was fun.  I thought he needed time off or something.  No, just for our viewing pleasure.  We’ll see how they’ll approach the angle moving forward.  Besides that, I was surprised it was able to keep some semblance of a story going.  Usually it’s a wham-bam, hodge-podge of action.  This time around, they were trying to maintain a train of thought.  They should do that more often if you ask me. In any case, SmackDown’s in Texas too tonight and all that’s slated is some 6-woman tag-team action and the US Title tournament continues.  Xavier Woods takes a shot at Jinder Mahal and Bobby Roode tries to squash Mojo Rawley’s momentum.  What fills up the rest of the time is any one’s guess.  Looks like some attention has been split in order to accommodate the Mixed Tag mat

You're Lucky You Get RAW for Free...

Hello Enthusiasts, How’s your day off if you’re so blessed? So, there’s not much word on what RAW will have to offer on MLK.   Looks like Asuka and Nia Jax have some unfinished business.   Roman Reigns still doesn’t care much for The Miz, join the club, and what else fills these 3 hours is anyone’s guess. Fortunately, there’s a lot in other WWE news this week, the biggest story being Paige’s career-ending neck injury.   Looks like she won’t be wrestling again but rumor has it that a non-wrestling role is being contemplated for her.   It’s unfortunate, really because that whole Absolution movement was about to take.   Perhaps she could be their figurehead or something, like a spokeswoman.   She could be the ringleader for these NXT lady upstarts.   *Shrug*  It’s a start.  Just throwing stuff out there. Other than that, Goldberg is slated for the Hall of Fame.   I didn’t see much of him in action, to be honest.   I peaced out after the Attitude Era so, there’s

SmackDown IS ALWAYS Ready...

Happy Tuesday, Enthusiasts! Well, RAW left us with some drama of the “see you next time” variety so we’ll see if  SmackDown keeps the momentum going.  I wouldn’t say that it was a bad show but the “little things” were a little prevalent last night.  When I say the, “little things”, I tend to mean the things that tend to make one wonder why they do what they do or make a person question this genre in the first place.  We all know that the WWE Universe is a unique place but it does have its own patterns and rules.  These patterns and rules aren’t readily recognizable to the layman.  The question of how to keep this interesting and relevant to new fans hovered a little bit in the air, I thought.  We all have to admit that we can look at this stuff and think it’s stupid sometimes.  Last night’s main event did play a little cornily.  Not to mention how they have a grown-ass man, in his 5o's still putting on a Halloween costume to "scare" us.  Trust me, Dad (Kane) is scar

RAW Is Ready to Go!

Good Evening, Enthusiasts! I hope things are going splendidly for you.  So, we come to another Monday where speculation and gossip seem to reign today.  Word has it that Neville may be in the process of being forced to wait his contract out before being released by the WWE.  Personally, I was hoping like the dickens this whole thing is a work because I thought the idea of Neville being shattered by having to see the Cruiserweight title on Enzo Amore was an awesome angle that could have led to a lot of fun exchanges and also display Neville as a more comic Heel as opposed to just mean and nasty.  In my opinion, he played better as a Face but you know they pull the trigger on that sort of stuff at will all the time. In any case, it looks like The Miz is headlining RAW tonight so…I don’t know what that means.  I’ll give The Miz his due and say that he’s made his gimmick work but…I’m gonna have to say that’s about it.  I’m not really raring to see him in a matc

SDLive's New Year's Wishes Are Better than RAW's...

Hello Enthusiasts! How does it feel being back at work, if that’s your lot?  Have to say, as much as I love being leisurely, I don’t mind having something to actually do.  Not that I missed the grind but I’m not complaining, let’s just say that.  So, last night’s RAW wasn’t bad so much as underappreciated I felt.  This time around, I think the merriment of NYE left the crowd weary.  Though there were some high points, the crowd certainly could have been better.  So, Christmas show, yes! New Year’s Day, not so much.  Kinda figures.  Sure plenty were nursing hangovers. In any case, hopefully tonight’s SmackDown crowd is more up for this evening’s action.  Looks like AJ Styles will have himself some ginger beer in the form of Sami Zayn.  The Usos have another case for the likes of Benjamin, Gable & Associates.  And will see how this US Title tournament shapes up.  Anyone know what the deal is with Dolph Ziggler?  Does he have other interests or something or are they doing
