SmackDown Sees the Finish Line That Is SummerSlam...

Image
Happy Friday, Enthusiasts!   How’s everyone doing? It’s SummerSlam Eve. And the Wrestling World has a few tidbits to gnaw on. Are you up for a quick discussion? Let’s get to it.   So, in the Realm of AEW, there are few rumblings going on. We’ll start mild as there’s a photo circulating of Shane McMahon meeting with Tony Khan. Mercedes Moné claims she took it but that has yet to be confirmed. Could the sired McMahon switch teams. Word is the new management at WWE aren’t really interested in the old Boss’ kid. I’m sure he’s free to attend any event but the need for him is little. AEW could potentially use his “expertise”. We’ll see if anything more comes of it.   In other AEW news, there apparently was some sort of confrontation in the Ladies’ Locker Room. I wasn’t sure if this was serious or not but apparently, Britt Baker has been suspended for an altercation with MJF. From what I could gather, seems like some shit that Baker may have talked got back to him an...

SmackDown Takes a Pit Stop on the Way to SummerSlam....

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts? It’s still hot in Southern California. It’s definitely summer. The current prime directive is just staying cool. As for the Wrestling World, there’s a lot to consider. A lot of speculation is wafting about all over. Let’s take a brief look and see what we can make of it.  First off we’ll start off in AEW as there’s some talk about rough chair hit Jack Perry took. Prompted Corey Graves to take to and then not take to Twitter/X to comment against the gratuitous violence. AEW does appear to be more hardcore than WWE and I don’t exactly get it but I do know there is an audience to whom this appeals. I feel it’s too much, though. I always profess that if it takes more than a first aid kit to fix, they went too far.  We know that injury comes with the territory but it should be unintentional. The point is to play again, maybe even tomorrow and if you go too hard, you can’t play everyday. That’s how I look at it. So, all I’ll say is I hope AEW is keeping ...

RAW Plans the Road Trip to Summer Slam...

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts?   Enjoying summer? I hope so, it definitely is warm out in the northwestern hemisphere. Well, there’s not that much going on in the wrestling world so, I’ll be brief. It’s going to be like that until Summer Slam unless something newsworthy happens. Let’s see what popped up on the radar in the meantime.   In the WWE Universe, we can prepare for the return of Roman Reigns at Summer Slam. I’m a little worried for Creative to be honest. People have high expectations for this so it would be a great pity if they didn’t hit the mark. That would have been expected a few years ago but now that they’ve found a winning formula, it would be quite the disappointment. Personally, I don’t have any inspired ideas but I’m sure it all depends on how he feels about Solo Sikoa.   Given that Reigns has suffered a recent personal loss, I would have him in “semi-retreat” mode. I’d have him “finding himself” and trying to understand “what it all means”. T...

SmackDown Does What It Does and Finalizes Summer Slam Fallout...

Image
Happy Friday, Enthusiasts!   So, there’s not much that has grabbed my attention this week, meaning there’s not much for me to talk about. It’s gonna be a short post so, let me get into it.   We have the Summer Slam Fallout Show before us and after seeing what Triple H did with RAW , I’m curious. I didn’t mind RAW at all. A lot of what H put into motion needed to be done to a certain degree. Before, the content was way too random and didn’t carry any continuity. I don’t mind if shows are stand-alones but that’s not exactly what was going on. It was just stuff slapped together with a vague train of thought. This week, RAW had a discernable beginning, middle and end. They also gave a lot of attention to the women and mid-card. The action was respectable. The only thing that was kinda lame was the Houston, TX crowd. They were pretty stereotypical and that is something WWE should consider.   Not everyone may be open to Triple H’s progressive approach so, WWE will h...

Summer Slam Is Over - Now for the Fallout...

Image
What’s Up, Enthusiasts?   Well, Summer Slam I is filed away and it served as a fair segue to the new Triple H. Era. It wasn’t bad but like I said in the previous post, the real obstacle to overcome was boredom. Can’t expect the same thing to land the same second time around. We know H is aware, the question is what does he intend to do about it.   Summer Slam was better than last year’s, that’s for sure and for the most part it was a solid show. Logan Paul did way better than anyone expected but still came off a little awkward afterward so, I still think it’s best for him to start as a deluded Heel and transition to a Face. Pat McAfee and Baron Corbin underperformed in my opinion but it’s hard to say why. Maybe they’re too good of friends offscreen? Just felt they should have let loose a bit more with it.   As for the main event, same diff but they definitely let Brock Lesnar have fun with it. I was hoping for a more competitive match but the tractor stunts ha...

Summer Slam 2022... It Is Here...

Image
Happy Summer Slam, Enthusiasts!   Well, this is an interesting time in the WWE Universe. We have “Summer Slam I” essentially because we are under the Triple H regime. Does that mean all the others no longer matter? No. It means they are now outdated because they were directly overseen by Mr. Vince McMahon. Is this a good thing? Most people think it is. We shall see.   This is not to say anything against Triple H but Money in the Bank was actually solid. It was the first solid, from start to finish, PPV I’ve ever seen in my 7-8 years of watching. Will H keep pace? It’s hard to say. The card would say not to get hopes up but no matter who’s in charge, the talent is there. Will it be put to the best use?   I’m curious to see what happens and of course, I will be watching but here are the matches I’ll be most interested in seeing. First off, is the Logan Paul vs. The Miz match. This is intriguing due to all the press saying that Paul is angling to be a Face. If Tr...

SmackDown Does Its Go-Home Show Duties for Summer Slam...

Image
How’s It Going, Enthusiasts?   Well, it’s Summer Slam’s Eve and there’s not too much going on that I care to talk about but there are few things happening. Let’s talk about some of them. Okay, here we go…   So, what a lot of us know is that Seth Rollins isn’t technically slated for Summer Slam but there’s speculation that he’ll show up somewhere. Word is that Riddle has been “sidelined due to injury” but there’s also talk that this is a “creative decision”. Well, you know I don’t care much for Riddle and I would say that this “recasting” so to speak may be more preemptive strike. The general populous doesn’t know about his sexual misconduct allegations and given how Mr. Vince McMahon decided to step down in light of his past, Riddle may be handled with kid gloves going forward.   As I’ve suggested in past posts, I think the only way to get around that is redemption. The main problem I have with Riddle is that the matter was handled like something made to go aw...

The King Takes the Helm as RAW Preps for Summer Slam...

Happy Monday, Enthusiasts.   So, the changes keep rolling in about the WWE Universe and the general consensus is that it’s all for the better. Let’s break it all down, shall we?   News broke today that Triple H will now head WWE Creative and there appears to be a collective sigh of relief. Sounds like my thinking aligns more or less with Management. I’ve been saying H taking over should calm most detractors. Many commenters caution any celebration as though Mr. Vince McMahon may no longer officially run things, he still has the final say as majority shareholder. Triple H’s ideas can still be vetoed and we could be right where we’ve always been.   Well, if I were majority shareholder and just retired, I would see what H does with it first before striking everything down. If H does a better job, then H does a better job. I could relax in retirement in peace. Many feel Mr. McMahon won’t be able to leave well-enough alone but I don’t know about all that. Granted, ...

SmackDown Carries On...No Matter Who's in Charge....

Image
How’s It Going, Enthusiasts?   Boy, it was gonna be a short post but then all sorts of shit just went down so, let’s talk about it.   So, as everyone knows, Mr. Vince McMahon has seen the writing on the wall and has tendered his resignation. He has announced his retirement. It appears Nick Khan and Stephanie McMahon will serve as co-CEOs/Chairpersons for the time being. This all happened just after it was announced that Triple H would resume his executive duties. It’s hard to determine when all this was decided but it appears to now be in effect.   Nevertheless, don’t expect changes in production to be immediate. Mr. McMahon will retain the majority of WWE shares and therefore continue to have the final say in much of its dealings. However, that does allow the space for gradual changes so, don’t think things will remain static. What we have to hope for is that the changes are in fact for the better.   Some glimmer of hope for that stems from the recen...

RAW Starts the Finishing Touches for Summer Slam...

Image
A Good Monday to You, Enthusiasts!   So, there are some things going on in the wrestling world, but I will only comment on a few of them. Though things are going on, much of it doesn’t really interest me but there’s some stuff that does. Let’s get into it, shall we.   The first bit of business is that Ric Flair has finalized his “last match”. I’m not sure if anyone else will be on this card but the main event will be Flair paired with Andrade against the well-known Jay Lethal of Ring of Honor fame and Jeff Jarrett who evens out the geriatrics. I have no desire to see this match, but I may catch whatever glimpses make it to social media. The whole thing just comes off as desperate. I don’t mind if a guy keeps themselves in shape and is ready to go at 607 years old but I have no desire to see a decrepit Ric Flair hobble around for money. I’m sorry he may be in a position where he has to do it but I’d rather he just enjoy retirement. I don’t want anyone endangering their ...

SmackDown Stokes the Fires for Summer Slam...

Happy Friday, Enthusiasts!   There’s not a lot going on but what is, has people buzzing. Let’s just dive right in.   So, it’s not a big deal to me but a lot of people are still speculating what’s going on with Sasha Banks. Word is that her current asking price is $30,000 for non-wrestling appearances. The lady has to eat. Well, still not sure if that indicates the obvious but I’ll hold to thinking it’s a work until WWE drops the official release statement.   A lot of people are also kinda rolling their eyes at her asking price and that just indicates why I had a hard time buying her and Naomi’s walk out. She’s a great performer but I’m not falling over myself trying to see her wrestle. Not sure she has that much notoriety outside of the wrestling world so, I was hoping this was an act. It could be a heel-turn and this time around she’s full of herself. Kinda like how Carmella is playing up being the “most beautiful”. She doesn’t look bad but saying she’s the m...

RAW Leads Us to Summer Slam....

Image
How’s It Going, Enthusiasts?   It’s a slow news day in the wrestling world so this post will be brief. Just gonna touch on a few things and call it a day.   So, to start, let’s just address the status of Naomi and Sasha Banks. Word is that someone was instructed to remove them from the WWE roster but we have yet to get an official release statement from WWE. What do we believe? I have no idea. Naomi has been making social media comments that seem to lead people to think that the release is currently in process. The suspicion is that they are sitting through their non-compete 90 days. I suppose, but the lack of official statement is curious to me. Usually, WWE doesn’t waste time in cutting ties. I continue to speculate it’s a work but to what end? Don’t know but if it is a work, they’ll keep them out of action until they figure it out.   The most promising piece of news going around is that Bayley may soon return to action from injury. She posted a commemorativ...
