SmackDown Before Extreme Rules...Unless After "C"

Image
Greetings Enthusiasts, So, the Go-Home show for RAW  had a little more excitement than I was anticipating and they answered some questions that hover around the Lilliputian Finn Bálor.  He held up realistically well against the portly opposition of Bray Wyatt and Samoa Joe but was bullied in the end.  Is that indicative of the outcome of the Fatal-5-Way planned for Sunday? *Shrug* In any case, Smackdown appears to be more focused on Money in the Bank and at that PPV we’re supposed to see if Jinder Mahal continues to hold the title or gives it up as a possible one-time fluke.   Along with that, who will run off with the “Money in the Bank”?  I don’t know…who makes it interesting? Kevin Owens maybe?  His smarminess would wear it well.  Dolph Ziggler perhaps?  I have to say he was the more compelling opponent in his showdown with Shinsuke Nakamura.   Do we chock it up to Nakamura being WWE green?  And then The Viper, Randy Orton, vipes in the background.  Does he reclaim his pr

How RAW Does It Have to Get Before It Gets EXTREME?....

What's Going On, Enthusiasts! So, it looks like we've got ourselves the Go-Home RAW for this Sunday's Extreme Rules PPV and I'm not really sure what we're supposed to be gearing up for besides the PPV itself.  We do know that there is talk of title changes and #1 Contenders but that's always the case.  For me, I'm curious to see how they're going to make this Lil' Finn Bálor make sense against all these guys that have at least a hundred pounds on him.   Now, I'm all for the underdog, I love the underdog but let's just get real here for a minute.  Though I do not doubt his overall athleticism, I don't see how he believably puts a dent in these guys.  Entertainment wrestling is far from Kung Fu and unless Bálor knows some sort of Fu, I don't see him coming out alive.  In NXT he did have his demon alter ego to go along with the Celtic Bálor myth but it looks like the WWE isn't sure that angle works with a mainstream audience.  I

Does the Status Quo Get the SmackDown...

Evening, Enthusiasts! So, rumor has it that there will be a re-match for the title tonight and it's interesting to see what the WWE will do with this.  Will they allow Jinder Mahal to run with it or will they do what they often do and hand it right back to Randy Orton?  Well, I'd say letting Mahal keep it a while would be cool.    They should have the look of equal opportunity.  If anything, it gives something that Creative can work with.  And wrestlers have more of an impetus to not just mix it up in the ring but to portray their given story as well, or just be charismatic, you know whatever works.  They have to sell themselves if they want the real action and they have to do it well too.  I do believe there is room for everyone at the top.  Those on the roster got their jobs for a reason.  Let them show us why they're on the payroll. Outside of that, what's going on?  We see if Shinsuke Nakamura continues to introduce us to Japanese Strong Style which, could be f

Shouldn't Feel RAW After a Little BackLash...

You might be missing the point 😉 How You Doing, Enthusiasts! I sense plenty of you are still reeling from the jaw-dropper of a win for Jinder Mahal last night.  Personally, I think that's what the WWE Universe is more or less all about.  Many bridle at this "jobber" turned title-holder but...why not?  Mahal has been with the WWE on and off for years.  Just because he jobbed doesn't mean that's all he's good for.  The wrestlers have to go out and prove what they're good for.  Mahal took a shot and it paid off.  Others should do the same.  Now, I don't view that as clearance to pick on Finn Balor but to go out there ready to play, no matter the opponent.   Those who come correct each night, should get a shot at a push and they either capitalize or they don't.  I don't care if it's Brock Lesnar, or Sami Zyan or Erick Rowan for that matter.  If they go out there and amaze, they went out there and amazed. Now, I know, it's all scrip

A Little BackLash Can Be Good Sometimes...

Means people are talking about you 😉  Can't be all bad. What's Going On, Enthusiasts! So, we gather around for BackLash this early afternoon/evening and the buzz of course is Shinsuke Nakamura.  We're all excited to see how his "Strong Style" will fair against the returned heel of Dolph Ziggler.  Could be an interesting match.  Many feel it will be the match of the evening and I'm sure it won't be disappointing.    Yet, the other buzz circulating is the title match between Randy Orton and Jinder Mahal.  This is an interesting match because Mahal is generally thought of as a "2nd String" player.  Having previously been a member of the 3-Man Band fronted by Heath Slater, We the Audience have always been led to believe that we didn't have to pay much attention to him.  But I speculate that fearless shot he dealt Finn Balor  a while back got him some attention.  He didn't treat him with kidgloves.  If Balor's gonna play in the big

Of Course You Can Get BackLash from a SmackDown...

Should Go Without Saying 😉 How are we doing, Enthusiasts? To be honest, RAW was a bit more entertaining than I was expecting, so hooray for that.  It's definitely improved since my more involved incarnation of this blog and I hope the trend continues.  Might just make this respectable programming yet. Now, we turn to SmackDown's go-home show before Sunday's PPV, BackLash.  Looks like we'll continue to get Shinsuke Nakamura's debut tease and The Viper, Randy Orton, may just "vipe" around a bit having survived the House of Horrors that wasn't.  And we'll see what the Ladies will get up to since there's this "Welcoming Committee" lurking about.  I'll go in with lowered expectations.  Should allow for pleasant surprises.  Funny tweets get retweeted and Favorites, we'll just remain open to. Fishing for RAW Ideas...

Image
What's Up, Enthusiasts? Well, it looks like story-lines are going to get a shake-up of their own with Braun Strowman out of action with an injury.  Now, Roman Reigns needs a new counter to mess with in the meantime. Truthishly, I do and don't get all the hater-ade that Reigns gets and don't really mind his "anti-face" status.  The challenge is how to make it all interesting.  Just looking at the sitch, we've got your Roman Reigns who's got the "Homecoming King/Jock" thing going and We the Audience generally resent him for that. He's that guy who's always on top for no reason.  I get it.  Everyone has to do the work, him included so, how is that going to get written in?  *Shrug*  Your guess is as good as mine, Enthusiasts.  Set it up right, and it could be very entertaining.   Should he suddenly get the motivation to win us over?  Should he get hungry for another title?  Should he feud with someone else...Samoa Joe?  John Cena perhaps

Care for a SmackDown?...Indubitably

Good Evening, Enthusiasts! Well, I would say RAW wasn't that bad but last night's crowd made it seem like we were watching a typical tennis match.  They weren't really feeling it at all.  The "hooligan" chants echoed as always but the audience seemed as if they should have spent their money elsewhere.  What do you say?  Blame it on Monday?  In any case, I wouldn't say SmackDown  has any slack to account for but rather needs to be more fluid in its approach.  Hopefully, they get a better crowd to work with but the name of the game will be coherence and fluidity.  Never know what's going to happen out there, that's nothing new in the WWE Universe but, the approach to anything happening should utilize the surprise as a springboard as opposed to view it as a mood to be turned.  Perhaps this is the time to experiment?  One has to challenge oneself if one's to evolve, right?  What do you think, Enthusiasts?  You think SmackDown  can get the ball rol

It's a RAW Ol'Night Across the Pond...

Allo Enthoo-siahsts! Looks like the WWE is doing one of its European tours so, no matter the coast we all, for the most part, will be seeing tape delayed action.  The one thing I like about these overseas adventures to the UK is the Hooliganism that gets transferred over.   True, it's not as blood thirsty as a Manchester United match but the British approach is always an interesting juxtaposition to the American way of doing things.  Let's see what kind of bangers & mash RAW cooks up tonight.  Funny tweets get retweeted and we'll see if someone so ridiculously witty bestows us with a Favorite. From RAW Punishment to Complete SmackDown...

Image
How's It Going, Enthusiasts? Hope it goes well.  So, RAW did what it could to make up for that poor bit of judgement in the form of Payback's House of Horrors.  Thankfully, We the Audience were kind to Bray Wyatt and did not blame him for the fiasco.  Good job!  When it comes to matters as such, those at fault are those in charge.  Yet, let's be fair.  Not every idea is going to work and I do like how the WWE is trying to look for fresh angles.  That shouldn't stop but...some good ol'brainstorming needs to be done if these wild and crazy plans are going to work. 'Tis the rub and challenge.  Do you think they'll find the right combination?  I think if they want to stay relevant, they will.  But enough of the potential contemplation.  Let's have some fun and MST3K tonight's SmackDown up!  Funny tweets get retweeted and Favorites...we'll just see if we get one of those. See You in a Bit, -Nicole Alexis (^_~)

Brutal PayBack Leads to RAW Punishment...

Image
Evening, Enthusiasts! So, didn't care for the House of Horrors did we.  Well, like I always say in these matters, either stick to the general wrestling format or go ahead and see if STARZ or HBO will option a wrestling show.  Trying to blend the 2 genres will tend to have this sort of effect.  We the Audience have trouble suspending our disbelief if the fight's going to be pre-taped.  If the fights are going to be taped, might as well just drop the pretense, get buff guys and girls who can act and script the premium primetime.  That's just my humble opinion. So, how will tonight's RAW recoup last night's losses?  *Shrug* Who knows.  If we know how this train rolls, it'll probably follow up with plenty of the usual but keeping to real time.  Could even make more sense seeing how there is a blatant mis-step to account for.  Takes a mistake to learn the lesson.  Funny tweets get retweeted and Favorites come but once in a lifetime 😉 See You in a Bit, -Nic
