I Guess SmackDown Has a Mid-Term En Route to Backlash

TGIF, Enthusiasts!   This is one when I definitely feel like kicking up my feet. So, there’s stuff going on in the world of wrestling but not much of it interests me. NXT UK’s Takeover got canceled for instance. I’ve never seen one of their shows. It’s kinda like that. There’s stuff going on but it’s not stuff I generally pay attention to.   That doesn’t mean there’s nothing to talk about. What caught my eye today is the “retro SmackDown” planned for next week. I think that could be a lot of fun but timing is key for that sort of theme. Maybe it should be done around Halloween or some 3-day weekend as a tradition so RAW can join in too. I don’t mind fun asides like that at all. I respect that the name of the game is entertainment as well as wrestling and having some fun allows wrestlers to show different sides of themselves. The better look we can get at them, the easier it is to make up our minds. I like the idea. Depending on how it works out, my vote is a 3-day weekend when

RAW Had a Little Relapse. Think It Will Recover?...

A Good Monday to You, Enthusiasts!   My goodness, this was an interesting week. Trash bag incidents, Big Cass gets a new gig over at Impact and Kenny Omega takes the Impact title. Times are a changing. It should be viewed as a good sign. There should be no limit to what’s possible and in these events are hints of just that. I’m not going to break these down because it’s just the news of day sort of thing. I don’t really feel any one way about them. But I do continue to find Omega freelancing around town interesting. WWE should also be a possibility. Maybe that could be used to keep Daniel Bryan interested. Omega could defy all odds and step foot as an independent pro-wrestler on WWE soil. Get into a feud with Bryan and give Bryan a reason to show up on AEW. I don’t really know why he would want to go to Impact but perhaps he could do a gig or 2 in Japan. I’m rooting for him. I hope he gets that sort of leniency. He’s certainly earned it.   As for the WWE Universe, we tune in to

SmackDown Is Back on Clean-up Duty....

Happy Friday, Enthusiasts!   I actually am glad to see it. That’s a good sign that we are getting back to normal. I love the end of the week! So, let’s not dawdle. Let’s see what’s going on in the wrestling world.   So, the big news is that WWE is getting the high-pressure hose and is flushing out its ranks. I don’t know if this was planned before or after this week’s RAW but I wouldn’t be surprised if the show didn’t help a lot of people. After that stellar WrestleMania, they defaulted to 2 years ago? Why would you want to do that?! Finally on the right track and they pull a U-turn to nowhere? If they didn’t see that coming then there’s definitely something wrong. Hopefully, these changes are for the best. Something needed to change for a while and it looks like WWE is starting to agree. Let us pray things don’t go from bad to worse.   Another bit of news is SmackDown related. Daniel Bryan’s contract is up this year and the rumor is that he’s trying to re-sign with an opt

A Merry Monday to You, Enthusiasts.   These are curious times in the WWE Universe. Usually, the curiosity more lies in the content we’re going to see. Recently, it appears to more concern WWE’s general game plan. With the recent releases leaving many at a loss, it’s hard to say what WWE is planning on doing. Given who was let go, some would say it doesn’t look good. I have to be honest and say I don’t have enough information to say one way or another.   We can all generally agree that WWE has been more or less rudderless for the past 5-6 years. Potentially more but I can only vouch for say the past 7 or so. They haven’t been a great 7 years. This past year has been the best I’ve seen them in total. I’m not completely heartbroken by the releases but I was upset at others. I didn’t like seeing Rusev go but I get it. He broke kayfabe and that should be a no-no. I thought Pac was a shame. Seeing Dean Ambrose go was painful. And more recently, I was a little disappointed at Christia

SmackDown Fallout Seems More Severe This Time Around...

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts.   So, it’s a bittersweet SmackDown isn’t it. The recent cuts saw some favorites get their walking papers. Personally, I didn’t see Billie Kay and Peyton Royce getting released coming. Yet, at the same time, I’m not surprised. Don’t get me wrong. I like them it’s just…I could take or leave them as a spectator. You know WWE. It’s supposed to be the big deal and “They’re all right…” isn’t what they want to hear about the wrestlers. What I am surprised at is the rumor that a lot of them were told they wouldn’t be cut a few months ago. I guess things changed but that comes off cold. Samoa Joe however isn’t too much of a surprise. Word is that he wants to get back in the ring but he’s just not medically cleared. I don’t think Samoa Joe is supposed to be a svelte man but slimming down wouldn’t hurt, especially since he isn’t the freshest chicken. Generally speaking, these releases may cause a trickle-down effect. These displaced wrestlers could find themselve

How Are You Doing, Enthusiasts?   We’ve been seeing a lot of each other, haven’t we? WrestleMania does that. Well, now that it’s all said and done a lot of people have their panties in a bunch, more so because they know that’s exactly what WWE wanted. The insult to injury is that tends to prove they got pissy pants. I rightly “hated” the end but I loved the show. That was the first time it felt like WrestleMania since I’ve been watching. Finally! Now, that’s what they need to be doing out there. Let’s see how long it all lasts. It’s on them to make sure it isn’t a fluke.   As for best night, I would say that’s more a matter of preference. Night 1 was definitely more honest. Yet, Night 2 was better executed, save for The Fiend match but I saw that coming so I tossed that out. I appreciated both nights for what they offered. Overall, I’m kinda proud of everybody. It was just like I’ve been saying. The talent is there, no doubt. They just need a Vision. Hopefully, this last weeken

And Here We Go - WrestleMania: Day 2

How’s Everyone Doing?   So, color me impressed. I did not see half of that show coming and when I say that, I mean in terms of quality. The audience is necessary. I think that has been thoroughly confirmed. There’s nothing like having eyes on you. The pressure to perform is palpable. Kudos to Mandy Rose for turning her little slip around. See, stuff like that happening to people like her just makes them human. Now, she’s even more likable.   As for match of the night, I think Bianca BelAir and Sasha Banks took it. They kept it simple and just had a match and it was just as solid as we all knew it could be. I’m glad for the both of them. They did their jobs… Now what? Well, we’ll see. As I said on the Twitter, it feels like everything that happened no longer matters. It’s all about what goes down in real time.   So, how does Night 2 keep pace? They shouldn’t overthink it. Night 1 had a lot of natural aids. There was a rain delay so they had people shoot backstage and that ri

Here It is - WrestleMania: Day 1

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts?   Here we are at another WrestleMania and this time around…I know I always say I’m curious but this time around I’m curious and intrigued. It’s a weird feeling. I kinda like it.   So, I’m not going to run down everything but there are some matches that I am more interested in. The first of which is the match for Sasha Banks and Bianca BelAir. It just so happens that I got this article out and in there, I basically say what I mean. I don’t think this is the best set-up so the task is for these ladies to make some sort of stir-fry or something. They got to make their odds and ends of a story end with a solid match. Can they do it? Certainly. Will they? ¯ \_( ツ )_/ ¯ I’ll be watching right there with you.   I’m going to choose to speak on Cesaro facing Seth Rollins over Drew McIntyre and Bobby Lashley because to be honest, it seems more interesting to me. I know McIntyre and Lashley are doing their damnedest but they're kinda stiff. They’d ma

Happy WrestleMania Eve, Enthusiasts!   Are you ready for all the action? We’ve got like 4 days lined up of just WWE going for it so, let’s get into what’s buzzing around so that we can focus.   Well, the kinda big deal is that WWE is attempting to be progressive by naming Sasha Banks and Bianca BelAir as the headliners for Night 1. I actually have an article out that concerns the matter. I’m more on the, “it’s not the right time” fence but I’m glad that some attempt is being made to bring some equality to how matches are presented. Yet, as I surmise in my article, I think they’d want better conditions overall if they were to truly main event. This could be the beginning of times when the best “wrestlers” main event. In that case, it could be by men or women.   I’m all for it. What we want is a good show. If 2 ladies bring down the house, so be it.   The other tease going around is that we could very well see Becky Lynch return to the ring this weekend. This may be a bit

Second to Last Stop to WrestleMania!...

A Happy Easter Monday to You, Enthusiasts.   Since we gather weekly, we sometimes bear witness to the sub holidays. Might as well embrace it. So, let’s see what’s going on in the wrestling world today.   I suppose what has the most general buzz is the anticipation of NXT moving to Tuesdays. I’ve also heard that Ring of Honor was trying to secure something for Thursday and you have New Japan providing offerings on that day through Roku too so, it looks like there may soon be wrestling on TV every weekday night. I would think that’s an achievement for the Industry. A potential fan can now sample the basic offerings and make a decision. We’ll see if one of these promotions gives WWE a run for its money.   As for the NXT move specifically, I think it makes sense. It subconsciously aligns itself with RAW and quiets the talk of the “Wednesday Night” wars. If anything, I think this move makes collaboration all the more possible. They probably won’t start that until everyone’s vacc

SmackDown Takes the Wheel on the Road to WrestleMania...

A Good Friday to You Enthusiasts.   I hope it finds you well. So, there are a few bombshells circulating this Friday. Let’s have a quick chat about them, shall we.   Well, what’s got the WWE Universe buzzing is that Chris Jericho is set for a Broken Skull Session with Steve Austin next week. Unsurprisingly, this correlates with WrestleMania weekend. Personally, I think this is nothing but a good thing. I look forward to the day that AEW invades and this appears to be the first step towards that reality. I don’t find anything wrong with this because all parties are just acknowledging the facts. We all know Jericho’s recent history. There’s no point in denying it. Might as well embrace it as we all march into the future. I’m all for it!   Another bit of news that may or may not bode well for WWE is that Logan Paul does make his appearance tonight and appears also set for WrestleMania. My point here is that WWE seems to be okay with its place amongst the “trash”. Many would s
