Can SmackDown Keep Up the Good Work? Let's Hope So...

How’s Everyone Doing This Friday? You all hanging in there? Keep your chins up. This is one those times when it’s best to persevere. Well, there are some rumblings in the wrestling world but only a couple things caught my interest. Let’s get right into it, shall we. So, Paige is getting a lot of press as she has bared her true feelings on how WWE is commandeering everyone’s third party accounts.   Paige has made it clear that her Twitch channel has been therapeutic in helping her deal with not being able to wrestle. She feels wronged in this matter. Can’t really blame her. She’s just trying to keep herself sane. Well, she’s free to take my idea of joining up with Mustafa Ali.   Looking at what they’re doing with RETRIBUTION, it’s no worse an idea than what's already in play. They could establish a presence that could outlast their careers. Couldn’t hurt to try. There is the off chance they could be ahead of us for once and this could possibly be a work…what, expecting too much fr

Oh My Goodness, Enthusiasts! Hell in a Cell was certainly something.   It wasn’t the best something but it wasn’t all bad.   Nevertheless, it looks like a lot of fans didn’t care for it.   Numbers are generally down comment wise on Twitter, Reddit, Facebook and wherever else people like to post their opinions.   General consensus is showing that Sasha Banks and Bayley had the match of the night with Roman Reigns and Jey Uso coming up second.   I was proud of Banks and Bayley.   They delivered hands down.   So nice to see them both evolve so impressively.   As I keep saying, the women are underutilized.   Hopefully, this showing gets them some more action. As for Reigns and Jey, oi. I appreciate the attempt at telling a story but again, they leave themselves open to painting themselves into a corner. Is anyone going to reprimand Reigns for tossing a referee out of the match?   These sorts of loose ends are what undermine the credibility of these sorts of matches. It just gets ridicu

How Is Everyone This Sunday? Ready for Hell in a Cell? Well, I can’t say I’m not curious. Yet, as usual, I won’t speculate too much on what may happen but I’m sure we’re curious about the same matches. So, to get right into it, the first match of interest is Sasha Banks and Bayley.   Since they haven’t had much actual wrestling time, I’ll be looking to see if they come off rusty. I don’t expect a bad match but since this has been so heavily acted, this may become more of a spectacle than a match. This is not a bad thing if they keep it entertaining. I’m anticipating a lot of weaponry is going to be used, chairs, kendo sticks, someone may go through a table. It doesn’t matter who wins though, if Bayley retains, I hope there’s a long term plan for her.   This past week’s SmackDown was very promising. One of the better shows they’ve had in quite some time. It looks like the word to push back is getting to the wrestlers and who can blame them? Who wants to look bad in public? Hopefull

SmackDown Brings It Home. You Know, Because Hell in a Cell Awaits...

A Good Friday to You, Enthusiasts! How are you doing?   Well, I continue to not complain…I’m actually acclimating to quarantine life.   Miss doing stuff, though.   I’ll admit that.   I like county fairs. Anyway, back to the WWE Universe. In all honesty, a lot of the talk will be about AEW.   Let’s not lie and say the 2 aren’t affiliated.   As much as Chris Jericho and all others who feel disillusioned with WWE continue to talk their shit, they all can’t deny they’d probably come back under the right offer.   In Jericho’s case, he’d have to have creative control.   Yet, news wise, a few things popped up.   First let’s get to the not so flattering stuff.    AEW showed themselves to be a little sloppy this week.   An Alex Reynolds got knocked out during an 8-Man-Tag and the ref failed to notice .   Tsk-tsk-tsk.   They should be more careful about stuff like that.   I’m not sure where one goes to acquire a pro-wrestling referee but they may want to either better train theirs or look fo

Hello Enthusiasts! How is this Monday treating everyone?   You know I always wish you well.   So…let’s see what’s circulating shall we?   It’s a little female focused this Monday. To start, Ms. Charlotte Flair made a business move.   She’s been out since July recovering from surgery and avoiding COVID exposure.   That doesn’t mean she can’t attend to other business in the meantime.   She has signed with a sports-oriented agency, VarnerSports.   There have been rumblings that she may branch out into more creative avenues in television and film, this may assist in making that a reality.   There’s also speculation that they will be involved in any subsequent contract negotiations with WWE.   We’ll see if this is the smart business strategy it’s supposed to be.   The other Horsewoman on the bench, Becky Lynch, also has some rumors floating around concerning her timeline back to the ring.   It was reported that she was backstage for last week’s SmackDown .   The word is that managemen

A Good Friday to You Enthusiasts! Are you doing well?   I certainly hope so.   Let’s get right to it shall we?   There’s some stuff going on that makes for good conversation.   The first bit of info that caught my interest is that RAW Underground has gone on hiatus.   With the COVID threat it simply isn’t safe to hold at the moment.   I think the concept is a good device to break a creative block.   As we can see, the WWE creative department tends to get stuck on repeat.   RAW Underground could be used as a way to inject some fresh energy into the mix when they’re running low on ideas.   Being now, then and forever is taxing.   I can understand that.   As they fish around for a way to account for that, they might as well keep what works on hand.   I wouldn’t be surprised if it gets reinstated under better circumstances. Another thing that caught my interest is some talk from Cody Rhodes.   Apparently, he’s been getting some flak for promoting so many former WWE Stars.   It would

A Good Monday to You, Enthusiasts! If you’re in California, you’re probably enduring a little Autumn heat.   I’m sure everyone else is starting to settle into fall weather.   Regardless, let’s take a look what’s going on in the WWE Universe.   The weather is always “temperate” there. So, word is Eva Marie may return to the WWE.   What better example of the High School nature of the WWE Universe.   Now, I recall hearing about Eva Marie training for a return a while ago so, maybe she picked up some skills during that time yet, I understand the general chagrin.   Don’t overestimate the WWE Universe; it’s always been this way.   It’s more concerned with what sells, not necessarily the best wrestlers.   That’s why some hottie can waltz in and start right at the top.   Understand the WWE Universe’s prime directive, appeal to a general audience.   They want to pull in Joe/Jill Schmoes who are curious about this world.   Sex appeal tends to keep people coming back, even though it may be fo

Script Is Getting Flipped - It's the WWE Draft on SmackDown...

Happy Friday, Enthusiasts! How’s everyone doing?   Well, when it comes to the WWE Universe there appears to be a lot going on.   Tonight marks the first night of the WWE Draft.    The RAW and SmackDown (maybe even NXT) brands get shuffled up in the hopes of shaking up the action.     We all know they need to do more than just shuffle up the rosters but this is always a good start.   Yet, before we get into all that, let’s take a look at some other news circulating.   Matt Riddle has more problems.   His accuser, Candi Cartwright, has thrown down the legal gauntlet.   She's suing WWE, Matt Riddle, Evolve and a Gabe Sapolsky for $10 million each.   Yowzers.   Well, her allegations aren’t flattering.   I’m thinking this may get settled out of court but I don’t know what that’s going to do to Riddle.   Her claims are very damning.    With WWE chock full of other problems, they may just cut their losses with him or give him some behind the scenes position.    Wouldn’t be surprised i

How’s Everyone Doing this Monday? Good?   Hanging in there?   Stay strong, my friends.   So, there are a couple things on my mind tonight.   I guess it’s best to start with Finn Balor, given how he and Kyle O’Reilly had themselves a knockdown, drag ‘em out fight for the title last night at NXT Takeover.   Balor retained but not without getting banged up plenty.   Now, this is the sort of thing I mean when it comes to how the WWE mishandled Balor.   The Dæmon Persona is somewhat necessary for Balor to make sense in the WWE Universe.   His susceptibility to injury kinda ruins the ruse, so to speak.   If they established him correctly, his matches could be better structured to protect him.   When in trouble, he could resort to psychological tactics to “disturb” his opponents.   I always thought that would be fun for both Balor and whoever faces him.   When he found himself in a jam, he’d get the opponent all crossed up in a hold where he could whisper something in their ear.   What it i

A Good Friday to You Enthusiasts. How is everyone doing?  Well, I hope.  So, there’s some bustling about the WWE Universe.  Looks like WWE is gonna get a cut of all this 3 rd party action wrestlers are getting.  Word is wrestlers are pissed.   Well, I don’t blame ‘em.  Here they are trying to do a little side hustle and WWE now wants a piece.   From what I heard, it sounded like Twitch accounts would now be administered through WWE and participating wrestlers would get a percentage?  Not sure if that would be proportionate to popularity but I get it.  I’d probably just say fuck it and drop it all together.  That may be what WWE is coaxing wrestlers to do.  It seems a little…bitchy to me.  What does it matter?  I guess they want to keep a cap on the Kayfabe or something.  Don’t want wrestlers getting too loose outside of the WWE Universe.  They’re trying to maintain control or something. The other big piece of news is that WrestleMania 37 is getting moved to Florida from the Los An
