Any Good Ideas, SmackDown?...

Like, any at all 😉 Happy Friday, Enthusiasts! I hope it is a good one for you because I am done!   I’m just worn out.   Ain’t as young as I used to be.   Done been spent by the week.   Well, I’m not going to bore you with all that.   There’s actually some buzz fluttering about the WWE Universe at the moment.   Everyone’s doing the financial analysis thing and the WWE appears to be coming up short.   This isn’t exactly surprising.   Though the content has been better than in previous years and even with nailing the Royal Rumble, in my opinion, a lot of the content continues to be hit or miss.   The Fiend is a primary example.   So, this may be the “beginning”.   We’re going to see quite a bit of trial and error until a new stride is discovered.   I say, bring it!   It’s about time, really.   An overhaul has been overdue and now they have the solid numbers to back it up.    That’s how situations like this go.   It’s just like a crime has to be committed before you call the poli

RAW Puts SmackDown to Work...

A Good Friday to You, Enthusiasts! I hope this is the start of a great weekend for you.   The Super Bowl should have plenty of you excited.   As for me, I’ve never liked football but I don’t mind watching the spectacle of the final game.   Besides, the Halftime Show tends to be entertaining at least.   Anyway, as for the WWE Universe, well SmackDown actually has to keep pace again this week as RAW closed on a strong note as we get word that Edge is back for now and to welcome him, his former partner in crime, Randy Orton gave him a Heel Hazing by threatening to re-injure our returned hero’s neck.   This was a masterful bit of heel-itude as the crowd whether it believed it or not, ardently played along.   Some guy was shouting, “Don’t you do it, Randy!   Don’t you do it!...” close to one of the cameras.   It was great!   It’s as if the WWE is giving us a refresher course in itself which wouldn’t be a bad thing.   Many would say that they’ve missed their own point for the past

SmackDown Adds Gasoline to the Fire...Hopefully...

A Happy Friday to You, Enthusiasts! Welcome to the weekend.   So, let’s get right to it shall we.   SmackDown has the usual task of taking us into the Royal Rumble and after a decent RAW , the name of the game becomes “keeping pace”.   Let’s just say, that’s the realistic option.    Yes, I would like to be left salivating but let’s just admit the WWE may simply not know how to do that anymore.   Times have changed and tastes are varied.   Before we lead ourselves to disappointment, let’s just step back and see if we’re at the very least, entertained. So, we ended last week on a high note as The Usos returned to in-ring action and were able to come to the aid of their brethren in the form of Roman Reigns.   As I said on the Twitters, it was a little predictable but not necessarily phoned-in.   The players meant well and that’s fine.   What we have to be wary of is more of the same.   We have to expect some familiarity from time to time.   With a show that’s basically been on

SmackDown May Start Off 2020 with a Number from Grandma's Cookbook...

Happy Friday, Enthusiasts! Is it treating you well?   Well, if it’s not, do something nice for yourself tonight.   Sometimes, we just gotta take care of ourselves.   So, I suppose we can all breathe a slight sigh of relief as we can now put the Lana and Lashley saga behind us…at least when it comes to nuptials.   To be honest, I didn’t think they’d have as much fun with it in the end and I have to kinda, half give it to Lana.   They must have had her sit with Vicki Guerrero a little bit to get some pointers on how to be annoying in a heel way.   Though many feel they want those 20 minutes back, I kinda get what they were going for, the Funny Cringe.   What came out, unfortunately, is that the players may not have the chops to sell it.   Not to say the WWE should stop trying to hock that angle but they’re going to have to do it with people who can sell the material.   Hope someone is taking note. In any case, we’re now in 2020 and so, the mild charge towards the Royal Rumble

SmackDown Has to Take Care of Some Business Before TLC...

Happy Friday, Enthusiasts! Is it treating you well?   I gotta tell ya, this is about all I can do tonight.   I am spent!   Anyway, so RAW did its job this past Monday as Seth Rollins solidified his heel turn.  Yes there were some title matches but since the titles didn’t change hands, that could easily be viewed as a nod to the viewers without the WWE Network.   So, who knows what exactly we’ll see come Sunday.   This is why I’m focusing on the heel turn.   There is a lot of potential here, especially since Rollins is beginning to demonstrate a “pattern”. His recruiting of the Authors of Pain could be viewed as a blatant attempt to recreate some sort of SHIELD faction.  He feels most confident being “The Architect”.   The potential for drama is quite prevalent here.   Will Roman Reigns have anything to say about this?   Will Rollins ever seek out his support?   Will Reigns oblige?   And there’s always hope for the future.   We all know that for the foreseeable one, Jon Moxley

For Once, RAW Earned Its Keep...SmackDown?...

Happy Black Friday, Enthusiasts! Did Thanksgiving go well for you?   Mine was…eye opening to say the least.   Regardless, it’s Friday and though many of us have the day off, SmackDown has to work mainly because there should be more people than usual sitting around the house.   Cold temperatures and people geared for shopping have many staying in and that’s something we should expect SmackDown to take advantage of.   Not to mention that RAW was actually quite action packed this past Monday. It was more exciting than Survivor Series, which should be reviewed by WWE higher ups, but say what you will, they held their side down.   SmackDown now has to keep pace and recalibrate us for TLC set for December. What’s advertised is scant.   Apparently Bray Wyatt will have a new addition to his Firefly Fun House.   I’m sure he’ll have some words for newly Heeled Seth Rollins.   I’ll get more into him come RAW, but I will say Rollins should have fun this time around.   I’ve been voicin

SmackDown Just Has to Stay Solid...

Good Evening to You, Enthusiasts! How is Friday treating you?   Are you ready to close up shop for the night?   Well, before you do all that, let’s go over this week’s action before we get into tonight’s SmackDown.   So, before we get into the “big” news lets dissect this Lana Saga just a little.   We all keep speculating as to why the WWE decided to go with such an atrocious angle and to be honest, all I can come up with is punishment. For whatever reason, they just can’t nail how to sell Bobby Lashley but when it comes to Lana and Rusev, the bulk of us know that they’ve been going a bit rogue for a while and I don’t blame them.   Rusev Day was over with the crowd and Creative just didn’t roll with it.   Can’t even say why, it was no better or worse than what they were doing.     So, Rusev & Lana started doing their own thing on YouTube.    Might as well, but something about this demonstration might have been too outside of WWE’s jurisdiction.    You’ve noticed how Lana

A Good Friday, Enthusiasts! And it’s not even a Holy one 😉 So tonight, we witness the first SmackDown on FOX making the new era official.   To usher us in, it looks like “The Rock”, Dwayne Johnson will be gracing us with his presence and rumor has it that Randy Orton is trying to orchestrate a match with him for WrestleMania 36 and I’m strangely fine with this.   Yet, what we may not have considered, is whether that match will hold up in this current atmosphere.   Naturally, many may just marvel at the spectacle but we have to admit, it’s been some time since The Rock has actually wrestled and if you’ve ever strolled down Memory Lane and looked back at some of the Attitude Era matches, you may be surprised at how dated the material may look.   I don’t doubt these 2 as performers though.   If this goes down on the greatest stage, we shouldn’t be disappointed. There’s also word floating around that Finn Bálor is heading back to NXT.   I hope that this is temporary if it is tru

Looks Like Smackdown Is Going to Have to Help Build this Cell...

Happy Tuesday to You, Enthusiasts! How are you doing this evening?   Well, I hope.   So, let’s get right to it, shall we.   RAW wasn’t the best but that may be more due to something that often gets in the WWE’s way: Reality.   That concept bursts more bubbles than we can count and the WWE Universe is apparently bumping into it now.     The example best showed itself in the Bray Wyatt segments.    One opened last night and it wasn’t bad but the premise had Wyatt interacting with a live Seth Rollins.   I know plenty of people love this gimmick but the transition from screen to real time was awkward at best and it’s hard not to roll your eyes sometimes because we are being asked to accept this “spooky” alter ego.   I’m not sure how I’m supposed to get the spooks with some guy in a Halloween mask.   Again, I rather have a beatdown. Then to close, I have to say I was delighted to see Dad (Kane) but for him to go down to The Fiend just gets me all riled up about how they never used

SmackDown Can't Believe It...RAW Actually Listened...

Happy Tuesday to You, Enthusiasts! I don’t know about you but things could certainly be worse in my corner.  So, last night was one of the finer Go-Home Shows I’ve seen in quite some time.  It was exactly what it should have been.  Though some people question the old tactics of bringing back Attitude Era veterans to inject some life and gain some ratings, it all makes sense when you think about it.  They have to look like a good investment to FOX so they have to up their game a bit and too original/new content could sour fans, they’re keeping with sure fire bets so they can get off on the right foot.  Wouldn’t you?  They’ll be time for experimentation, trust me.  The way things are going – not that they’re bad – they’ll have no choice but to implement some trial and error from time to time.  Right now, they’re just focusing on playing the right note. Speaking of right notes, of last night the most surprising to me was the Firefly Fun House segment.  I’ve voiced how I don’t re

So, Does that Mean SmackDown Does the Actual Tweaking...

Probably (^_~) A Cool Tuesday to You, Enthusiasts! I’m not sure where you are, but where I am it’s hot!   So, I have to say that I kinda like this slow burn that RAW is experimenting with.   We advanced the King of the Ring tournament.   We get some intrigue as the RAW Semifinal becomes a Triple Threat with Baron Corbin now having to face Samoa Joe and Ricochet.   This gets interesting because there is no clear favorite.   Ricochet is crazy in the ring.   Corbin is a formidable opponent just due to the size of him and Samoa Joe is rigidly focused at the moment.   No matter what, it should be entertaining. Moreover, we have the SmackDown quarterfinals for tonight where we’ll see Elias face Mustafa Ali and Chad Gable gets a shot at Andrade.   I’m thinking it’s gonna be Elias and Andrade here.   Story-wise, Elias has Shane’s backing and Andrade is supposed to be dating Charlotte so, I don’t see Gable being that over to be considered a “must see” match but I’m not saying th

A Tuneful Tuesday to You Enthusiasts, It’s tuneful because I’m listening to music 😉 So, RAW was… very okay last night but that’s all right.   It is because that means they are experimenting or at least, that’s what they should be doing.   Expect these weeks prior to the Go-Home Shows to have this sort of feel.   People aren’t fully engaged because Clash of Champions is one of the less popular PPVs so this is a prime time to kick around ideas and see what works.   I wouldn’t say it was a total loss but hopefully they’ve got plenty of notes to work with.   Don’t worry guys, it should get better.   Gotta crack a few eggs to make this omelet. So, for tonight I wouldn’t say that SmackDown has to clean up the RAW mess as so much set a better example for RAW to follow for next week.   There were some long, not necessarily interesting matches last night.   Perhaps SmackDown will counter with some excitement.   They’ll wrap up the 1 st round of King of the Ring with Mustafa Ali fa

SmackDown Knows Where the Next Stop Is... You Coming?

A Good Tuesday to You, Enthusiasts! How did you like last night’s RAW ?   I don’t know if it’s a good thing, but it was more fun than Summer Slam to be honest.   Again, not sure if that’s what they were going for but I hope someone is taking note.   Sasha Banks returned on a Heel-Turn.   Could the blue hair indicate a brand switch as well?   And they’re starting to get a feel for how to showcase the 24/7 Title.   Good for them!  The only bit that didn’t really work for me was the main event.   AJ Styles and Seth Rollins got into it fair enough but when The OC jumped in to DQ the match, Ricochet came riding in to the rescue.   I guess that was to dovetail off the feud he had with Styles but it confused the hell out of the crowd.   I didn’t see it coming either but I was able to piece a hypothesis together.   Yet, that’s not the end of it.   To provide further support, M.I.A. Braun Strowman returned to assist in the walloping on the Heels.   What’s funny to me about this is that the
