Night of Champions - SmackDown Fallout

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts? Happy Friday! So, there’s some stuff to chat about but not much. Nevertheless, this should make for a decent post so let’s get into it, shall we? First up, in the Realm of AEW, it appears that CM Punk and AEW have come to some sort of resolution and Punk is planned to return for Collision with Ace Steel sending in texts and emails accordingly. Word is that Punk and Steel will be heavily involved in the creative aspect of this show and it will probably showcase a very soft brand split. If things go well, the delineations will become clearer. We’ll see what happens with all that. I get the feeling Tony Khan is going to learn some things the hard way but so be it. That’s the only way the lesson sinks in sometimes. Regardless, I hope this solves whatever the problem was and if it doesn’t, that’s what I’m talking about.  In the real world, WWE is making it clear that it doesn’t intend to do much competition with AEW. In venues where both promotions do business,

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts!   Are you enjoying the day off if you have it? Most of us in the United States have the federal holiday of Memorial Day off and I have to say that it’s always nice to have a 3-day weekend. WWE took advantage and had a couple PPVs if you count NXT’s offering. Let’s discuss, shall we?   Well, WWE can rest easy this week as word has it AEW’s PPV, Double or Nothing didn’t quite hit the mark. I saw some comments along the lines of it being “boring” so, WWE is definitely going in the right direction as the PPVs of late have been quite entertaining. Night of Champions was no different.   Most feel the 3 rd and final “main event” with Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn battling the Bloodline in the form of Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoa was Match of the Night. I just have to say that Zayn addressing the crowd in Arabic was very heartwarming. It’s always nice to have real moments like that which put the whole event in proper prospective.   That did give way to

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts? Who’s opting for a BBQ? I’m doing our own version with the family. That’s why I’ll be watching at my leisure during the 5 o’clock hour on the California coast. Regardless, that doesn’t stop the Matches of Interest. They’re pretty obvious but that’s why we’re talking about them. Shall we? First up, word is that Seth Rollins and AJ Styles may open so, we’ll see if that comes to pass. This is interesting because first of all, for a “Heavyweight Championship”, these guys aren’t so heavy yet, that doesn’t mean there isn’t gravitas. Both of them have earned their stripes and we know that they can perform and entertain. It should be a good match but who would win? Well, the thing about this is, many of us know that Seth Rollins is filming since he has entered the MCU. I’m not sure of the schedule but what’s clear is, it’s probably not a good idea to put the Title on someone who probably won’t be around.  However, Rollins is terribly hot right now. With audiences

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts? The start of the Memorial Day Weekend doing you well? If it doesn’t apply, is Friday at least a good one, especially as it’s close to being over for many of us? I certainly hope all is well. As for the Wrestling World, it’s a slow news day. The key players for WWE are over in Saudi Arabia and AEW is here stateside doing its thing. There are a few tidbits to comment on so, let’s have a brief chat. In CM Punk news, word is some agreement has been made so Collision is now a “go”. I guess Punk and Tony Khan reached some agreement regarding Steel. Word is Steel will work remotely to appease Punk. So there’s that. It will be interesting to see how the crowd responds. The notion going around that Punk should go heel is not a bad one in this light, but I think it should be more humorous than pointed.  If the media scrum that started all this was in fact a work that missed the mark, it’s because Punk wasn’t being over-the-top enough. He played it too serious and pe

Could this Be a True Night of Champions?...

Meh, it's possible but yet again, feels best to keep expectations low.  We Enthusiasts are enthusiasts by default in many cases and so, we complain but accept more often than not because, when you think about it...it all doesn't really matter.  Of course, we'd love to see a well-crafted product in the WWE but the underlying beauty of it lies in its slap-dashedness.  It's like a live-action Michael Bay flick.  All you need are tits, ass and explosions and you got yourself a movie.  The only difference is there's a little wrasslin' mixed in when it comes to this extravaganza.  Hey, I love a good slam-bam action flick.  I know exactly what I'm getting into and expect no Oscar-worthy performances outside of maybe special effects.   This is how I generally approach the PPVs.   Even grander spectacles that I, in theory, have to pay for.   And so, I'll judge this evening in terms of Michael Bay films.  Plot may have plenty to be desired but with enough bells,

SMACKDOWN? Only If Someone Deserves It (^_~)

Greetings Enthusiasts! Well, let me just say that last year's season premiere was WAY better, hands-down, which doesn't make for an inspiring lead up to Night of Champions.  Spoilers for Smackdown don't tell too much better of a tale but we'll see.  I will also say that I do like how Charlotte is manifesting in the Divas Division.  Though done in on RAW  by some dastardly "Twin Magic", she sold her performance well and I can now start to see what all the buzz is about. Now, if they could just get some more Divas that actually look like they can kick your ass, we'd really be going but, one step at a time.  Until then, let us take in our "Go-Home" showing and keep those expectations low.  Funny tweets get retweeted and we'll just see if a Favorite rears its head. See You in a Bit, -Nicole Alexis.

Can't Create Champions Without Getting RAW from Time to Time...

Evening Enthusiasts! The flavor of the month is Night of Champions and we're now in "Go-Home" territory.  As is often the case, I'm not really sure what to expect.  The past PayPerViews have been at least entertaining so I haven't felt the need to feel cheated yet set-up, as per usual, has plenty to be desired.  'Tis the crux of this genre I fear.  The slapdash nature of it gives you the same in terms of performance and product more often than not.   The question then becomes, is that the point?  Perhaps we ask too much.  Perhaps we should revel in the fact that in the WWE Universe, just about anything can go...if you at least make it watchable and hit your marks. (^_~)   Anyway, let's see what they come up with to get us interested this time around. Funny tweets get retweeted and if a Favorite arrives, a Favorite arrives. See You in a Bit, -Nicole Alexis.

See, Now We Can Do Some SMACKDOWN....

You know, in moderation (^_~) Greetings Enthusiasts! How is everyone doing?  Well, I can't entirely complain, especially since this week's SmackDown appears to have some fun bits to anticipate given the spoilers.  I'm always up for a good time.  Aren't you?  Who doesn't like a little premeditated drama?  Funny tweets get retweeted and we'll be patient when it comes to Favorites. Don't want to ruin the integrity of the content. See You in a Bit, -Nicole Alexis.
