SmackDown Brings the Official Close to Elimination Chamber...

A Good Friday to You, Enthusiasts!   How are you doing on this final Friday of February? I have to say things are starting to look up on my end. Not that they were especially, down. Given circumstances, things could have definitely been worse for me but planning and initiative kept my head above water so I can continue to not complain. So, let’s just jump into the world of wrestling, shall we. Let’s see what’s going on.   Before we discuss Big Show, let’s get into some not so unsuspected news. It just caught my eye because he’s been off TV for a while. Murphy seemed to be on the upswing before Seth Rollins went on paternity leave. Now that Rollins is back, Murphy is on his own. Word is that WWE has decided to drop the Aliyah romance angle leaving Murphy with the status of “nothing to do”. Here again is evidence that wrestlers need to have more of an idea of what to do with themselves. WWE will let one try on some dumb shit for size and when it doesn’t work, they just slap some

RAW Holds the Customary Elimination Chamber Fallout...

Hello Enthusiasts!   A good Monday to you! I hope it finds you well. So…that was Elimination Chamber. To be honest, I wasn’t that upset with it. I can see a lot of people were disappointed but it was better than I actually anticipated. The SmackDown Elimination Chamber was the match of the night without question. Everyone came out hungry! I liked it. They were raring to go. They probably knew they were the best thing going on last night.   Roman Reigns retaining to get served an Edge spear for being lame was strangely satisfying mainly because Reigns is being a good sport. He’s making it clear that his ego doesn’t have to be stroked so much that we miss out on a story to tell. Not to say he’s a saint but I get the feeling Brock Lesnar wouldn’t be so willing to help sell a story like this. Edge apparently wants to serve up some meat with his potatoes so he’s treating Reigns like the punk-ass heel his is presently. We now get to have fun seeing how Reigns will delude himself into

Will It Be an Elimination Chamber for the Ages?...

Hello Enthusiasts! Happy Sunday! So, we’re all here for Elimination Chamber and I don’t blame anyone for simply being curious. How they’re going to make this all make some sense is a bit more compelling to contemplate than in recent years. Not that they have gotten themselves into a mess or backed themselves into a corner it’s just, there are a lot of looming questions and we should presume that’s on purpose. That being said, the point I’m really trying to make is that I hope that the “plan” is as crafty as they think it may be. For me, that’s the real curiosity. Will it all amount to a watchable show? They have been focusing on streamlining the presentation. I have noticed and appreciate the effort. It’s been a long time coming. Now, we watch and witness whether WWE can maintain its own continuity, something I was beginning to think would never happen. The unexpected repercussions of a pandemic show themselves in mysterious ways 😉   Anyway, a lot of tonight’s intrigue comes f

A Good Friday to You, Enthusiasts!   How’s everyone doing? Well, there’s not much going on in the wrestling world, well no more than usual but there are few blips that caught my attention. Shall we chat about them?   The first one is more an indication of a long-standing problem in WWE. Word is that Bo Dallas, though still on the WWE Roster, is planning for his life after wrestling, seeing how he might as well anyway. He hasn’t really been on TV since 2019. Now, this isn’t really surprising because he was on the mid-card anyway but again, decent wrestlers are just being paid to sit at home. Tsk-tsk-tsk. What’s the point of a creative department if they aren’t creative? The simplest thing to do is keep him around until Bray Wyatt decides to reinstate the Wyatt Family. Dallas could be a right-hand man type. I know they probably wanted to stay away from that angle to give a Dallas a chance to develop on his own but since that’s only happening in real life, might as well go with th

Hello Enthusiasts! Happy Monday.   For many of you, you’re enjoying President’s Day and for many of you, it’s just another day. No shame in it. It’s just the times. Well, there’s some news floating around in the wrestling world. Let’s see what’s worth chatting about.   What caught my attention is that Cody Rhodes is open to collaboration with WWE. I have said how I’d love to see AEW storm WWE during Survivor Series someday. It has “Next Level” written all over it. Yet, I’m in agreement that neither one is there yet but I do think the possibility becomes more valid in the next 3-5 years. If everyone just keeps striving for the best, we could have some tantalizing showdowns and face-offs in the future. The key will be keeping them sparse, maybe 3-4 times a year. The last thing you want to do is overplay an angle like that. You want to keep it special. It becomes less so if it’s every PPV but hit the big ones, and that may just get more eyes on the spectacle. I’m all for it.

Before We Get Ahead of Ourselves with WrestleMania, SmackDown Reminds Us of Elimination Chamber...

Happy Lunar New Year, Enthusiasts!   It’s the year of the Ox! It’s supposed to be an industrious year. I can see that, given everything. Gotta work on getting things back up and running. We can certainly see that in the wrestling world as well. There’s a lot of work to do.   But what else is new? So, let’s check in on what’s going on. Well, the first bit of news that caught my eye is that Keith Lee proposed to Mia Yim. It looks like she said yes! I’m happy for them. They look good together. When Lee heel turns we can see if he gets assistance from RETRIBUTION, if that’s still a thing by then. Best of luck to them both!   Something that may prove ominous for WWE fans is that 58-year-old Keiji Mutoh (a.k.a. The Great Muta) won a heavyweight championship over in Japan. His win was impressive. He still has some moves. But that means WWE may still try to find hope in aging superstars. All they got to do is stay in shape. Goldberg may get himself a title next time out. We’ll have

A Merry Monday to You, Enthusiasts!   Did you catch the Super Bowl? Boring as all hell, wasn’t it? The Chiefs just got flat out schooled. We’ll see how that shapes this year’s season. As for the wrestling world, well, there are and aren’t things going on. We are at the beginning of WrestleMania 37 preparations and it’s hard to say what will hold up until show-time. So far, it appears that WWE is attempting to establish a sense of continuity. This is surprising because WWE seemed to pride itself on being completely random. Yet, with ridicule rampant and ratings falling they have to admit their flaws. It could be said that they are attempting to do something about these loose ends. Well, I would say it’s a case of better late than never.   On the other hand, we probably shouldn’t read too much into this. It could all prove to be red herrings. Christian’s return may or may not affect Edge’s title run. I think a primary method of WWE is sticking to whatever is the most popular. The

Happy Friday, Enthusiasts!   I hope you’re having a good one. Before we get into it with what’s going on in the wrestling world, I just wanted to take a moment to comment on Dad's (Kane’s) appearance during the Royal Rumble. It personified what I’ve been saying all along. I haven’t felt more vindicated about anything as long as I can remember. They use him all wrong. Let the man close out as the Director of Operations again and instead of jobbing for the kids, let him just kick their asses, you know for good reason 😉 He could reestablish a sort of Management presence that squashes whatever noise that the kids may work up. Now, we shouldn’t see him weekly. I like how Adam Pearce is handling the unofficial General Manager role but he’s the proverbial Good Cop here. When Dad gets involved, it’s all Bad Cop. It’s why I call him “Dad”.   It’s not to hear any grievance. It’s to stop someone from griping; shut some pissy kid up, you know whatever. You don’t want to see Dad. He stood

The Rumble Complete, We Now Have RAW's Fallout!...

A Fine Beginning of the Week to You Enthusiasts!   Who caught the Royal Rumble? How’d you like it? I know, it wasn’t quite the spectacle we’re used to but I think it was fine, given the circumstances. Generally speaking, I think it went to plan. I was kinda wrong about the switch ups on the singles matches but they did try to keep them entertaining, which I do appreciate. They got Goldberg and McIntyre over and done with right off the bat so, no complaints there. I was right about them just using up the appearances, though. WWE has to know they can only do so much with Goldberg so let the man retire with some dignity.   Carmella and Sasha Banks along with Kevin Owens and Roman Reigns were what they were but I saw the extra effort put in to keep it fresh. Carmella sacrificed herself with a determined suicide dive through the ropes to get her some street-cred. And Reigns running Owens down with the golf cart was hilarious. Though, I would have thought it’d be the other way around
