SmackDown Has Some Explaining to Do...

Image
How’s It Going, Enthusiasts? Happy Friday! Well, there’s some news to talk about but not a lot so I’ll keep this post relatively short. Let’s just jump right in. Well, the biggest news that hit this week was the passing of the illustrious Iron Sheik. I only knew of him, so it’s a bit lost on me but I can always respect the end of a life, especially of one so prominent in the wrestling community. Nevertheless, he lasted longer than many who have come up through the ranks. He passed at the venerable age of 81 and so, at the very least we can take solace that he had a full life. Sincere condolences to the family. Well, as life tends to work, with every end there is a new beginning and that comes in the form of Jessica McKay a.k.a Billie Kay from the IIconics announcing her pregnancy. She has kept the proud papa private but many congratulations to the new mom-to-be. Good luck to this new chapter of life. She’ll be joining Alexa Bliss in that boat. So, that’s all I got. We’ll just take it i

RAW Eases Up on the Way to Money in the Bank....

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts? Everything is alright for a Monday? I should hope so. There’s not much going on in my neck of the woods and the Wrestling World is kinda quiet too but there are few things to chat about. Let’s get into some of it. The most interesting news appears to be a partnership between WWE and Twitch streaming services as they’re offering “side posts” to RAW while it airs live. Many feel this is an attempt to appeal to any and all media outlets as WWE continues to show that it’s always willing to adapt to the times.  Call me old school, but what I do on Twitter is about as far as I’m willing to go when it comes to a watch party. The kids these days film everything 😉 And that’s fine if that’s what you want to do. I’m a literary type when it comes to communication. I appreciate the written word and its silent accessibility. Hence the blog and affinity for Twitter. I like to sit here and type, not much else. The kids can have their life online. I prefer my privacy and

RAW Instructs Us that Money in the Bank Is What's Hot Now...

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts?   So, there are a few things to chat about going on in the wrestling world. I’m just getting up to speed after taking a little time off. Must admit, not all that surprised at what I returned to.   The obvious news is that of Jeff Hardy getting arrested yet again with a DUI being mixed in there as well. This is interesting. Many would say this is the behavior of an addict, but I think it’s a little simpler than that. Not too long before this incident, I saw reports of Jeff Hardy bailing on a match again, much like the incident that led to his dismissal from WWE. However, the difference here is that AEW let him be. WWE said get your shit and get out of here. Now, I understand WWE doing what it did. It’s the whole, “Fool me once…” kinda thing but AEW is the up and comer. Jeff Hardy’s career is far longer than AEW’s existence. There’s no telling if it will even have the same longevity. Hardy is older than his current boss, to that extent. So, the concep

How Are You Doing, Enthusiasts? Still hanging in there?   Do your best.   It shouldn’t be for too much longer but I understand.   Do what you can to stay sane.   So, here we are again, another Monday night when we see what the WWE has got for us this time around.   I think it will be kinda crazy for them once we’re back up and running.   Fans like us tend to get frenzied.   Many of us use this medium as an outlet for our pent-up frustrations.   That’s often best expressed through the fans’ reactions and without them, our general “release” is a bit stunted.   It’s definitely not as much fun.   I personally love reading the crowd responses to get a better sense of what’s landing and what’s not.   That’s more helpful than you think.   It allows you to be accepting or at least it should.   This sort of information allows me to accept The Fiend and other aspects I don’t care much for because I can see, someone else does like them so I don’t know everything.   It’s good to have that s

Who's Got Money in the Bank!

I'm sure the bulk of you are like me and could use plenty more 😉 How's It Going, Enthusiasts! So, it's that time before SummerSlam when the Money in the Bank contract gets handed out and for this year of firsts, a Womens MITB contract will be offered as well.  As I expressed earlier and through Twitter, I like the mix-up that's currently going on with the WWE like having Jinder Mahal wearing the WWE Title and Samoa Joe and Brock Lesnar set to go at it for Great Balls of Fire.  I'm hoping they keep going in that direction by giving Sami Zayn the contract and perhaps giving it to Tamina or Natalya on the Women's side.  These are personalities who have done their time, to reasonable degree, and I think a more diverse message should be displayed.  Ultimately, anyone on the roster should be able to hold a title, even Zack Ryder.  Any 2 "superstars" should be able to go out there and perform a title worthy match.  That is a mark of excellence I think t

Someone's Acting Up...Must Be Time for a SmackDown...

A Good Evening to You, Enthusiasts! So, RAW  had an okay showing starting off with a brawl between Samoa Joe and Brock Lesnar but unfortunately, that was the biggest moment of the night.  The Main Event of The Hardy Boyz vs. Cesaro & Sheamus was all right but with little lead up, again, we’re just watching a pair of guys throw-down.  *Shrug* if that’s what they want to do.  Sure, the titles are on the line but with Matt Hardy having taken a little paternity leave, we're a little slow to catch back up to the rivalry.  I wouldn’t say this is indicative of a more negative trend but rather proof of a long-standing caveat of the genre.  There are going to be so-so matches and gimmicks that go nowhere.  It’s just the nature of the beast and this night was one of those throwaways.  I will say that Rhyno sold his cracker bit with aplomb so, my hat is off to him.  The roster needs to have more fun like that.  This is scripted entertainment, yes?  So, go and liven it up.  Have fun

SmackDown Before Extreme Rules...Unless After "C"

Greetings Enthusiasts, So, the Go-Home show for RAW  had a little more excitement than I was anticipating and they answered some questions that hover around the Lilliputian Finn Bálor.  He held up realistically well against the portly opposition of Bray Wyatt and Samoa Joe but was bullied in the end.  Is that indicative of the outcome of the Fatal-5-Way planned for Sunday? *Shrug* In any case, Smackdown appears to be more focused on Money in the Bank and at that PPV we’re supposed to see if Jinder Mahal continues to hold the title or gives it up as a possible one-time fluke.   Along with that, who will run off with the “Money in the Bank”?  I don’t know…who makes it interesting? Kevin Owens maybe?  His smarminess would wear it well.  Dolph Ziggler perhaps?  I have to say he was the more compelling opponent in his showdown with Shinsuke Nakamura.   Do we chock it up to Nakamura being WWE green?  And then The Viper, Randy Orton, vipes in the background.  Does he reclaim his pr

GIVING IT TO YOU RAW…What Happened Last Night (June 8th, 2015)

Greetings Enthusiasts!  By the looks of things, it would appear that the WWE is trying to embrace some semblance of change. We saw plenty of the same but perhaps in a different order or with less emphasis to sticking to the script.  Whatever the case, I found the push for invigoration encouraging. We the Audience have voiced over recent years our collective displeasure but have somewhat resigned ourselves to never being heard. Perhaps someone, somewhere is in fact listening. We open in New Orleans , Louisiana with John Cena to greet us.  His purpose?  To talk about his match with Kevin Owens scheduled for Money in the Bank this Sunday.  It’s simple to Cena. Yeah, Owens and NXT are the hot-shit right now and so, naturally Owens has earned some respect. Yet, what Owens has to understand is that there’s a difference between NXT and the WWE.  Yes, Owens got Cena at Payback and Cena has much respect but, Owens has to recognize that the game is played differently in the “big leagu
