SmackDown Complies. We Await...BackLash...

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts?   Happy Friday! Well, there’s a lot of chatter in the IWC this week. I guess there always is but it’s been a bit more interesting and engaging to me of late. Gives us a few things to chat about. I don’t think I’ll be too long-winded but I won’t be holding back either so, we’ll see where I end up. Let’s get to it, shall we?   In the Realm of AEW, I took a look at the Riders of Death’s tenuous acquisition of Will Ospreay and I can say that it’s a good start. The tone was nice and accessible. I could see that fun could be had but it could get “heavy” with the “wrong” exchange or look. It’s all very…we’ll see which is fair for this point in the story. Very good, gentlemen. This makes me generally less apprehensive. You want to have fun with this, not overshoot the mark. We like wrestling but most of us have other things to do πŸ˜‰   Yet, the interesting news circulating in regards to AEW is the notion that Warner Bros./Discovery has no i...

RAW Sets the New Tone...

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts?   Welcome to a new week. So, for the most part the IWC is still reeling from last week’s WWE releases. It’ll get over it but it’s a disconcerting time for the fans. There’s a lot of talk of all the ads filling up WWE airspace and then there’s the news that SmackDown is returning to a 2-hour format. So, what are we going to be watching exactly? Room was made on the roster so we can barely get exposed to new talent and get inundated with consumerism?   Should we switch to AEW and/or TNA? Personally, I prefer MLW if I had to chose an alternative but they’re not on TV consistently enough. As for the named options, I’m not sure that’s realistic at this point but if these moves don’t improve the product, it may be an unexpected consequence. Both are still lacking in production values to be considered threats at present but both promotions do have decent talent, especially when it comes to those WWE didn’t value, and ads aren’t taking up half of t...

BackLash 2025 - SmackDown Fallout...

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts? Happy Friday! Well, there are a few things we can chat about this evening. Nothing spectacular or crazy but enough to get some conversation going. Give us some things to talk about. You ready to get into it? Let’s do it.  We’ll start in the Realm of AEW since they had their dual part Beach Break this week. I, as stated, checked out the Steel Cage Match between Jon Moxley and Samoa Joe to see how this served the Future and to me, it looked like another “foul ball” into the stands. CM Punk and Drew McIntyre have nothing to worry about as there was no real comparison other than it being a Steel Cage Match but Moxley’s enemies and detractors get more “evidence” in regards to how he’s a threat to himself and others. It’s a stretch, I’ll admit, because blood was spilt but in the action not so much blading I would say. Nevertheless, I’m thinking those against him will take anything that supports their case and he was out there bleeding again.  It w...

BackLash 2025 - RAW Fallout...

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts? How’d you like BackLash? I liked it! It was solid from start to finish. I’m like most and thought the opening Fatal-4-Way was the most fun though the main event brought me around in the end. I feel everyone should generally feel good about this show. It was respectfully executed and set us up well for Money in the Bank. Never thought I’d see the day but it’s all starting to come together. As for my Matches of Interest, I think my sentiments were validated for the most part. Lyra Valkyria became the endearing victim in a win followed by a beatdown from Lady Becky Lynch. Pat McAfee “kept it real” and basically warmed up and went for it against GUNTHER but kept it gutsy with some help from Michael Cole. Cole was an unexpected ingredient to this showdown as he spoke out against Gunther infringing upon their journalistic integrity and right to Freedom of Speech. A little social commentary getting sprinkled in, if you ask me πŸ˜‰ I figured this was set up for...

BackLash 2025 - Matches of Interest...

How’s It Going Enthusiasts! Happy Mothers’ Day Weekend. Since I’ll be traveling on the actual day, I’m making the most of my daughterly duties today. Started a little yesterday to be honest. So, here we are at BackLash and the slim card lets us know that this isn’t the biggest event but a relevant one. I take these as times for the less popular talent to get a chance. The popular ones are cool, of course, but too much of the same gets boring. It’s good to mix it up. See what everyone’s got. This could be a fun one but I’m curious about 2 of these matches on offer. The first one being the only Lady option as Lady Becky Lynch takes on her protegΓ©e in Lyra Valkyria. This is Valkyria’s match to lose or win, regardless of the actual outcome.  What has to happen here is that Valkyria has to get us to care about her to some degree or she risks being just another wrestler. This is the tricky part ‘cause it can be argued that this is the bit of it that can’t be taught. You either got it or ...

RAW Brings Everyone In to Kick 'Em Out for BackLash...

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts? Did the weekend treat you well? I enjoyed mine, actually. Starting to develop my own plans for the future πŸ˜‰ In the meantime, the Wrestling World is taking it easy at the moment. There are a few things circulating but nothing rocking the grapevine. Ready for a little review? Here we go. In the Realm of AEW it would appear that Jon Moxley has dialed it down by half if you ask me. Didn’t even know a 3.25 even registered for Mox. That’s not even much of a trembler if we’re talking earthquakes. If you’re a California native, you may not even notice it. Is there something wrong? Is he sick? Got a fever? No, I think the Future means more to him than he lets on as it should. If properly executed, it does change the game.  I dare not speak too much until it’s done but let Mox do what he feels is best at present. What matters now is that the foundation is correctly laid. Not to say a faulty foundation would cause the whole thing to collapse but the real mortar f...

SmackDown Doesn't Ask Questions. BackLash It Is...

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts. Happy Friday! Well, there isn’t that much going on that I feel is discussion worthy but we should have enough to get the gist of what’s basically going on in the Wrestling World. Up for a brief chat? Let’s do it. We’ll just take a quick stop in the Realm of AEW as Samoa Joe has basically taken it upon himself to solve the Jon Moxley problem. It seems to be effective so far, so that’s promising. The Future appears to be beginning to take shape so, we’ll let whatever comes may ‘cause it’s gonna be a bit before things get really interesting. Might as well let others get some action in the meantime. It all has to properly build. As they were. In the WWE Universe, there’s some administrative business in motion as the periodic cuts affected staff this time around and the talent cuts just dropped. Those of note are Braun Strowman (again), Shayna Baszler and Dakota Kai. These aren't exactly shockers but still a little unfortunate. Strowman seemed to be improvin...

RAW Declares It's All About BackLash...

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts?   Did you have a good weekend? Looks like TNA had a PPV on Sunday. And wouldn’t you know it? BackLash is coming up fast in the WWE Universe. There’s not a whole lot that has grabbed my interest but I think we can find enough to have a brief chat. You up for it? Let’s have a little fun.   Well, last week’s SmackDown was a blast for a lot of reasons. The Tables, Ladders & Chairs Match was one of the finer ones of recent times and the crowd participation you couldn’t ask for. A patron with a prosthetic leg offered it as a weapon in the melee and Montez Ford was willing to oblige. You can’t make stuff like that up so can’t even start to complain.   Personally, I was totally stoked to welcome back Aleister “Malakai” Black. They feel the same way I do and basically picked up where they left off. That’s fine by me. They should handle him like making up for lost time.   A lot of fans were a little disappointed in the lack of ...
