Royal Rumble - Matches of Interest

Image
How’s It Going, Enthusiasts? Conflicted about the Royal Rumble? I’m not sure you should be. True, there are matters to be considered however, this is supposed to be entertainment. I’m not sure it should carry such weight due to its inherent levity. Why bring the party down? That may be a naive take but I think it is a fair one. Why would you come to the WWE Universe for political discussion? They don’t use their words here.  Regardless, the show will go on no matter how anyone feels so I’ll make the most of it. This is an escape for me. I admit it so I’ll keep leaving the politics at the door. So that leaves the Rumbles. Those are the only matches I’m concerned about. I’m curious about the others and I’ll watch them but it’s the Rumbles we’re here to see so, let’s chat about what may go down.  For the ladies there are about 13 open spots so that’s room for 13 “surprises”. Word is Sol Ruca may make an appearance and there’s talk of a Paige return. I’ve also heard that a lot of ...

RAW Deals with a Lot of Fallout Before SummerSlam...

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts? How’d you like the weekend? There was a little something for everyone, wasn’t there. That means there’s plenty to talk about but I’ll only touch on a few points. If you’re like me, you don’t care that much but like to be kept abreast of the general current events. So, let’s break some of this down. We’ll start in the Realm of AEW as they are feeling elated as the great nasty “masochistic dragon” that is Jon Moxley was finally “slain” by the great and mighty Adam, the Hangman of Page! Now, perhaps it’s my WWE lens but I wasn’t as caught up with this as many commenters were but I have to say that Page’s victory was well-executed. Page stuck to being no-nonsense. He hung with Mox and got bloody with him too and in the end, gave him a taste of his own medicine by “half-strangling” him with a chain. If you saw the conclusion, Mox did the rest with his frenzied reaction. Looked like a cat caught in a net or something but I feel that was the proper response.  ...

RAW Starts the "Walk" to WrestleMania...

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts? Adapting to the Time Change, if you're in a region that adheres to Daylight Savings Time? That’s me, for sure but it’s not as bad as it has been in the past. That I can certainly say. As for the Wrestling World, the big news is over in the Realm of AEW. I don’t have much to say but I have some things. Shall we just get into it? Why waste time? So, by most accounts, AEW’s Revolution PPV was a success. Many commenters are bemoaning the main event with Jon Moxley retaining over Uncle Edge even with Papa Christian cashing in his Championship Contract. From what I could gather with the clips floating around, it wasn’t that bad. Mox is not a great wrestler. He’s entertaining. He’ll brawl with the best of them but he’s not pretty in the ring. Never has been and personally, I don’t need him to be. He makes the “blue collar brute” thing work enough. I’m fine with witnessing an ass-kicking. That coupled with Uncle Edge being 405 and only getting older, I think ...

RAW Tells Us It's All About Elimination Chamber

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts?   Enjoying your Monday? I’ve had worse ones, that much I can say. So, there’s a few things we can talk about tonight. Much of it is active fodder on social media and elsewhere. Let me jump into this while it’s still fresh.   We’ll stop in the Land of Free Agency as AEW has lightened their load. We already knew that Aleister/Malakai Black was on the way out, now Miro/Rusev has been officially released and Ricky Starks. I don’t know much about Starks outside of him ruffling Uncle Edge’s feathers but people seem to be high up on him. I’ll give him a shot. You all know that I’ve been counting the days until Black’s return. I feel like Rafiki finding out Simba is still alive. It’s a great day! Would go out and lead him back if I knew it would work. And everyone can’t help but notice that Miro/Rusev has been re-released into the wild on what would otherwise be “Rusev Day”. Is that some irony or coincidence πŸ˜‰   Most wouldn’t mind all the...

RAW Fallout - Royal Rumble 2025

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts? Did you enjoy the Rumble? Well, there were some things to be desired, I’ll admit but it was a good time. I have to say I had fun regardless but, yeah, there’s some things to talk about for sure. Want to get into it? Let's… So, no AJ Lee, no Becky Lynch, no Aleister Black and no Randy Orton; a lot of commenters were hoping for that one. It would seem the WWE Universe got their hopes up a bit for this one but it wasn’t a bad show in my opinion. I would say that the Ladies’ surprises were more interesting than the men’s. They pulled the trigger on Stephanie Vaquer and Giulia so that was lowkey exciting. Alexa Bliss still has her diehard fans but there were a lot of mixed responses to Charlotte Flair winning. I heard that was what was going to probably happen so, no surprises and I don’t mind it at all.  Just a brief aside to that ‘cause word came out that Charlotte and Andrade got divorced back in June so, interesting to hold that bit of info until after t...

Netflix Welcomes RAW!...

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts? Did you have a nice weekend? My weekend was purposeful. Got some things done, watched a few movies. It was nice in it’s simplicity. Now, we’re back in the swing of things. New month, new year, new way to watch RAW , among other things. Ready to talk about it? Let’s get to it. First, we’ll stop by the Realm of AEW courtesy of New Japan as Kenny Omega made his return to the ring this past weekend. As you may remember, he’s been out for about a year with an acute case of diverticulitis but appears to have recovered and is back to doing his thing. He’s got plans to reestablish himself back in the AEW fold which should be interesting seeing how things are going. I’m curious to see how he figures and with who. All in all, it’s good to see him healthy. Welcome back! In the WWE Universe, we all know this is the big Netflix debut of RAW and so talk has been mostly about what to expect. From what I’ve been seeing, we should have a more leisurely time of enjoying the...

Crown Jewel VI 2024 - Matches of Interest

Image
What’s Going On, Enthusiasts?  It’s another Crown Jewel and I’m not sure we can call it an “exhibition” anymore. It’s much more of a spectacle now, which is the natural progression. Imagine that πŸ˜‰ The whole card has the potential to slap, as the kids say, but will it? It’s not impossible. Given what’s on the docket, these following matches are the ones I’m looking at. They give me a lot to think about. We’ll start with Liv Morgan and Nia Jax. These Davida vs. Golitha matches are always amusing because it’s always how is that little one gonna do it? All Jax has to do is trip and Morgan is dunzo.  So, how do we stay invested in the match? It’s all up to Morgan and probably some interference from Dominik Mysterio. Is Mysterio about to get “squashed”? Or does Tiffany Stratton cash in? That would be the obvious route. It has been teased.  All I ever asked with these sorts of showdowns is believability. I don’t mind interference or slight cheating as long as it’s semi-r...

Clash at the Castle - Matches of Interest

Image
How Are You Doing, Enthusiasts? What did I miss? Anything good? Well, since I know I’ll be joining after the fact, I figured I might as well knock this out sooner than later. You all know how this sector of the world works. After it’s done, who cares? Yeah, we can play it back but it’s always about what’s next.  So, what’s next? I don’t know and I’m not sure WWE knows either. That’s kinda what’s cool about this time. It’s genuine new territory. And territory we couldn’t get to under the old regime. It is a New Era.  But does that mean it’s better? So far, so good. Yet, this evening should show whether we’re on the right track or need some retooling. Here are my matches of interest.  First, the Ladies offer Piper Niven vs. Bayley and if you ask me, it could go either way. What’s interesting about this is that we have recent commentary from Eric Bischoff stating that Bayley isn’t up to snuff. Her promos should be better is all I really heard. Her matches are solid, though s...

Crown Jewel V - Matches of Interest

Image
How’s It Going Enthusiasts?   It’s Crown Jewel V and it appears that everyone got there just fine. Let’s wish them safe travels back as well. So, I try to keep it simple nowadays. This event has gained more traction but it is still an exhibition, more or less. That said, here are my matches of interest.   I’ll start with the Ladies’ Fatal-5-Way. This is an interesting match because all these ladies have something to prove one way or another. Given the nature of things, Rhea Ripley retaining is the easy out. Yet, if I were to surprise, I would give it to Shayna Baszler. She’s gotten a raw deal in recent years and doesn’t really deserve it. She should be a valid contender even though she’s not the ideal “representative of the company”.   I like Zoey Stark but I feel she’s just too new. Raquel Rodriguez simply isn’t there yet and I’m not sure when that happens. There’s something not quite clicking. She has to embrace her persona, whoever that is, and that conundr...
