Someone Left You RAW? That Means a SmackDown...

Image
Happy Independence Day, Enthusiasts! 🙌 So, tonight we look to SmackDown  to see John Cena's return and I don't know, is anyone looking forward to it?  Now, I'm not saying that to be mean but, things have been just fine without him.  Does that mean it is in fact time to pass the torch?  Well, We the Audience know that a showdown between Cena and Roman Reigns is inevitable at some point but seeing how Cena's healthy at 40, if he can still take the hits I say let him.  Yet, I do believe it's becoming more and more blatant that he's being kept around for the kiddies.  We the Audience also know that Roman Reigns is PG-13/TV-14 at best.  This transition will be an interesting one.  In the meantime, with Jinder Mahal dangling the title in Randy Orton's face and Cena supposedly returning with "free agent" status, there are plenty of things that can be done.  Personally, I'm sticking to my "show up anywhere" approach.  Tonight, they'

RAW You Say? I Prefer Cooked...

S'pose I'll give it a try anyway 😉 What’s up, Enthusiasts! So, looks like RAW is in my hood this time around and it’s all very “hush-hush”.    Alas, I won't be attending, as is obvious with this post, but I will be catching it at its usually scheduled time with all the other West Coasters who have to work.  Well, with Great Balls of Fire coming up, the word is Lesnar could be ariound and the beef between he and Samoa Joe will continue to simmer and after that, whatever the hell else they care to display.   I’m sure the Enzo and Big Cass break-up will be addressed to some degree and who knows about whatever other bells and whistles they’ll put out there.   I get the feeling this will be a “pulled out of the hat” sort of night. Personally, I feel like it’s been awhile since we’ve done this.   The PPV’s are throwing me off.   It feels like months since I’ve seen wrestling.   On another note though, who checked out GLOW on Netflix?   So far, I’m charmed.   What

Someone's Acting Up...Must Be Time for a SmackDown...

A Good Evening to You, Enthusiasts! So, RAW  had an okay showing starting off with a brawl between Samoa Joe and Brock Lesnar but unfortunately, that was the biggest moment of the night.  The Main Event of The Hardy Boyz vs. Cesaro & Sheamus was all right but with little lead up, again, we’re just watching a pair of guys throw-down.  *Shrug* if that’s what they want to do.  Sure, the titles are on the line but with Matt Hardy having taken a little paternity leave, we're a little slow to catch back up to the rivalry.  I wouldn’t say this is indicative of a more negative trend but rather proof of a long-standing caveat of the genre.  There are going to be so-so matches and gimmicks that go nowhere.  It’s just the nature of the beast and this night was one of those throwaways.  I will say that Rhyno sold his cracker bit with aplomb so, my hat is off to him.  The roster needs to have more fun like that.  This is scripted entertainment, yes?  So, go and liven it up.  Have fun

Why Feel RAW When There's Money In the Bank?...

Image
How’s It Going, Enthusiasts? So, where are we?... Ah yes, Money in the Bank is now the buzz and we have a Men’s and Women’s contract up for grabs for the Blue Brand.   Now, as I touched on last week, I hope the goal here is to start some beef with the Red Brand so that they have a shot at a contract too.   I mean that would make it interesting, wouldn’t it?   I guess there are brand specific titles but the way I figure it, the goal is a match at Wrestlemania.   Why wouldn’t someone goad someone else into putting it on the line?    I don’t know, maybe it’s wishful thinking but I just find that the Blue Brand being the only ones to have a shot isn’t any fun.   I think someone from the Red Brand on both the Men’s and Women’s side should be able to snatch a title shot away and give themselves a shot at the title of their brand.   Why not?   Wouldn’t that be interesting at least?   Add a different dynamic?  Maybe I'm just whistling Dixie... In any case, rumor has it that B

Still Left Feeling RAW? Let SmackDown Soothe You...

How does SmackDown soothe?  Watch & see 😉 Happy Tuesday, Enthusiasts! So, RAW continues to remain decent as we veer away from Extreme Rules and look ahead to Great Balls of Fire.  I felt Samoa Joe is proving to be quite the entertaining counter to Brock Lesnar’s hyped brutality.  We should be thoroughly engaged when the showdown goes down…pending no one gets mixed up in any “company beef.”  We’ll keep an eye on that. As for this evening’s SmackDown, we gear ourselves for the upcoming SmackDown exclusive PPV of Money in the Bank.  Personally, I think this should have been switched.  Extreme Rules should have been a RAW exclusive and Money in the Back should be open to both brands.  I think it’s good to have everyone have a shot at the Money in the Bank contract and so, I hope the plan is to have whoever wins put it on the table for other group PPVs in the future.  The Red Brand should at least be given the illusion of having a shot at making things interesting on a wh

After Such Extreme Rules, You're Bound to be a Little RAW...

Evening, Enthusiasts! So, was Extreme Rules extreme enough for you?   Too cliché?   Meh, you come up with something then 😉   In any case, I actually thought Extreme Rules was one of the more solid PPVs this season.   Kalisto and Apollo Crews set the tone beautifully to open and then “upsets” abound as titles changed hands so we can mix things up.   Not upset with it in the slightest.   The only low point I would say would be the semi-squash match between Alexa Bliss and Bayley.   I almost hope Bayley wasn’t feeling well or something and just took a pass.  With the effort they took in building the match, I found the ending lacking.   Maybe they’ll use tonight’s RAW for some redemption. As for the match of the evening, I would have to give it to the Fatal 5 Way.   It was actually a lot of fun to watch.   These fellows did a boisterous dance that left bodies strewn and Samoa Joe the last one standing.   Something I think will make for interesting fare seeing how he’s the in-hou

SmackDown Before Extreme Rules...Unless After "C"

Greetings Enthusiasts, So, the Go-Home show for RAW  had a little more excitement than I was anticipating and they answered some questions that hover around the Lilliputian Finn Bálor.  He held up realistically well against the portly opposition of Bray Wyatt and Samoa Joe but was bullied in the end.  Is that indicative of the outcome of the Fatal-5-Way planned for Sunday? *Shrug* In any case, Smackdown appears to be more focused on Money in the Bank and at that PPV we’re supposed to see if Jinder Mahal continues to hold the title or gives it up as a possible one-time fluke.   Along with that, who will run off with the “Money in the Bank”?  I don’t know…who makes it interesting? Kevin Owens maybe?  His smarminess would wear it well.  Dolph Ziggler perhaps?  I have to say he was the more compelling opponent in his showdown with Shinsuke Nakamura.   Do we chock it up to Nakamura being WWE green?  And then The Viper, Randy Orton, vipes in the background.  Does he reclaim his pr
