SmackDown Concludes Fallout - SummerSlam 2023

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts?

It’s another Friday and there isn’t all that much going on in the Wrestling World, but enough to have a brief chat about a few things so, let’s see what’s floating around.

First, let us congratulate Rhea Ripley and Buddy Matthews/Murphy on their engagement. Looks like Matthews intends to make an honest woman of Ripley and thankfully for him, Ripley doesn’t seem to mind. I’ve got nothing but Mazel Tov to say to them. I wish the couple the happiest of nuptials. Perhaps this can pave the way to Matthews returning to WWE in the future but for now, let’s just wish them well.

The next item of interest is that there are rumors going around that Nia Jax is training for a return to the ring. Whether that will be a WWE ring has yet to be confirmed, though. There are some commenters that are bemoaning a possible WWE return but I don’t think that many people are against it. She has the bad rap of injuring wrestlers but I always thought she was just doing her job.

She’s supposed to go out there and ragdoll the little ones. Granted, there’s a proper way to do it so that they can work the next day but if they can’t take the bumps that’s not Jax’s fault. As I said during her exit, I think the only real problem was her ability to have a good match. She’s had well-executed ones but I can’t really say she’s had a good one. Roman Reigns at least learned how to have a good match. I think that’s the only thing she really needs to do to keep her off the chopping block if she does return to WWE. Guess we’ll see.

Elsewhere, there are reports that Brock Lesnar suffered a minor injury during his match with Cody Rhodes for SummerSlam. Roman Reigns supposedly has a mild injury as well but in both cases, it’s so minor that it doesn’t affect on-going plans. Sounds like they just need to rest up and apply the cold-compress. They’ll be all right.

So, that brings us to tonight’s SmackDown. It will bring closure to the SummerSlam Fallout so we can focus on Payback coming up in September. The big draw for tonight, of course, is Roman Reigns and Jimmy Uso. Jimmy will pledge his allegiance to the Tribal Chief but I figure Jimmy tries to take Reigns out again and even the score. Jimmy has made it clear he can carry out an agenda. Besides, he’s the family’s “black sheep”. It keeps him on brand.

AJ Styles will have another go-round with Karrion Kross and Austin Theory will see if Santos Escobar has the chops to take the US Championship away from him. For everything else we’ll have to make time to watch. As usual, I’ll be watching at 8pm Pacific time. You’re always welcome to join me for the unofficial watch party. You know where to find me.

See You in a Bit,

-Nicole Alexis (^_~)
