RAW Returns to the U.S. for Backlash Fallout...
How’s It Going, Enthusiasts?
Did you enjoy Le BackLash? I have to give it to
the French Crowd. They were amazing! They definitely added something to the
show. I don’t think it would have been half as interesting without them. I
think that gives WWE incentive to come back more often. They certainly earned
it. Apologies for not pre-posting. I’m in the midst of relocating, so posts
will be more to the point and I may have to omit them sometimes depending on
what’s going on. This will be the case for the next few months but I should be
more or less settled by Summer Slam. Please bear with me.
Let’s start on the periphery of the WWE Universe tonight
as Ric Flair has gotten himself some press recently. Apparently, he wasn’t too
thrilled with a dining establishment in Florida. It’s unclear why Flair was
ultimately asked to leave the restaurant but Flair took to Twitter/X to share
his chagrin. It appears he was just trying to spend some time with extended
family. Oh, well.
In other Ric Flair news, Flair speculates that he
probably had a heart attack during his last match. He says that he passed out three
times during it but he presumed it was due to dehydration. After a thorough
testing, it was deduced that a part of his heart “died”, essentially. Flair
figures that one of the times he passed out must have been a heart attack. Well,
it’s hard to say given the article states that this may have occurred at any
point he may have passed out in the past 2 years. I think it’s feasible that
this could have happened in his sleep as well but while in the ring is far more
dramatic and par for the Flair course. I’ll give it to him.
Back in the WWE Universe, there’s word that a new faction
is being put together to honor Bray Wyatt and is to be fronted by Bo
Dallas/Uncle Howdy. Word is we can expect Erick Rowan, Dexter Lumis and Nikki
Cross to be in this crew yet many commenters aren’t so enthusiastic and I can understand
why. However, given who’s involved, I think there is plenty of potential here. They
just have to guard against trying to replicate or otherwise “reactivate” Bray
Wyatt. He should have an alter or something. A monument that reminds them of
their special brand of chaos but they have to be their own, crazy thing. The
more they make it theirs and less a rehashing of the Wyatt Family the better.
This is their chance to establish themselves, I think they should really lean
in and take it but always remember the pitfalls. Bray Wyatt is gone. They
should not ever forget that and if they’re smart…they won’t.
And so, let’s swing back over to Backlash. Most feel that
the opener with Randy Orton & Kevin Owens battling against Solo Sikoa &
Tama Tonga was Match of the Night. I have to say it was a fun way to start
things off but I will give some honorary mention to Damian Priest and Jey Uso.
Priest did a respectable job of “sticking to the plan.” The Crowd was definitely
rooting for Jey but Priest was fine with ruining people’s day. Désolé, France. Il va gagner. And win, he did. That’s the mark of a
professional. He went out there and nailed the assignment. Keep doing that and
Priest should be fine.
As for Fallout, it doesn’t look there will be much. There
were no surprises and all Titles were retained so I suppose we’re just settling
into getting used to new faces and the new era. The current focus is King/Queen
of the Ring as I believe there’s a Crown Jewel show at the end of the month. We
can get ready for Sheamus and GUNTHER throwing down. Zoey Stark is gonna take
on Ivy Nile (a Toughies Battle). Jey Uso will see what Finn Bálor can do for
him. Natalya will keep Iyo Sky sharp and we’ll get a better look at the NXT call-up
in Ilja Dragunov.
The unofficial watch party will begin at 8pm PDT, per
usual. Join in and see what all the fallout is about.
See You in a Bit,
-Nicole Alexis (^_~)
