SmackDown Sticks to Goodies Because They're Goodies...

Who doesn’t like those 😉

A Delightful Tuesday to You, Enthusiasts!

I have to say I’ve certainly have had worse days.  So, for the time being we have a “Wild Card Rule” in effect where select wrestlers from either brand can show up on the opposing show.  We the Audience appear to be divided on the subject for the most part.  Again, this arbitrary move makes everything more…arbitrary.  But, my good audience, that’s kind of the thing.  The very nature of this genre is arbitrary.  It may have been harder to discern in the past but this has always been arbitrary.  What I think we really mean is that we think it generally sucks.  We can’t sink our teeth into it like we’d like to and that is the tricky bit because everyone has a different idea of how to make it better.  I think what we have to accept is that we’ve become “too aware”.  Remember, the Attitude Era happened during a time when we all were generally a lot more innocent.  Now, the children of this era have already consumed and digested more than we ever had.  They simply have more open eyes and ours are no longer so veiled.  What used to please us, may simply not anymore.  So, what does that mean?  Is the WWE doomed?  Not necessarily.  I think what the majority of us must first do is get “real” about it.

This is merely sports entertainment.  Men and women jump around and grapple for our amusement.  The promos and hijinks just makes it easier for us to determine this apart from a circus.  What we have to accept is that the WWE is a playground for madness.  Our scrutiny is really a waste of time and energy. We’re supposed to watch this and have fun.  That’s what my thing and this blog is all about.  It’s great if they figure out how to make this stuff more coherent but it’s always been about the spectacle.  Nowadays, people would like it to engage us and hold our interest.  I think we may simply be asking too much.  These guys are often working on the fly.  They don’t have $35 million production values per episode.  I think we have to first lower our expectations and then harp on that it sucks.  Could the content be better?  Of course, I’m not trying to vouch for this but at the same time, I’m not going to pick it apart either.  It’s clearly not that well strung together. That’s why I Mystery Science Theater 3000 this shit.  That’s what you’re supposed to do.  Crack yourself up as you make fun of or simply witness wacky action.  You can’t take it too seriously…it’s fake.  Just like any action movie.  Yet, that doesn’t mean it can’t make some kind of sense.  That’s their job.  What we do each week is see how close they come to that and in lieu of sense, they better counter with something funny and/or bad-ass because the real name of the game is having a good time.

Anyway, tonight SmackDown will try to please us with the likes of Mustafa Ali and Andrade facing off.  Shane McMahon will put the Tag-Team Titles on a new team and Kevin Owens will talk some shit about Kofi Kingston. We’ll see how much arbitrariness continues and watch how they fit it into the Money in the Bank set-up.  Don’t expect much, Enthusiasts but do give a chuckle if they manage to be funny.  That may be all we can really hope for besides a decent match or 3.  Funny tweets get retweeted and as for Likes/Favorites, ease up but don’t get soft.  They still have to at least be funny. We have to leave entertained.  Don’t lie.

See You in a Bit,
-Nicole Alexis (^_~)
