Crown Jewel VI 2024 - RAW Fallout

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts?

Did you have a chance to catch Crown Jewel VI? It was a solid show from start to finish. There really wasn’t a bad match. Some commenters may disagree but given how PPVs were hit or miss not too long ago, WWE has nothing to be upset about with last weekend’s display. It was what a wrestling show ought to be. Why don’t we talk a little about it, among other things?

Most would say that GUNTHER vs. Cody Rhodes was Match of the Night though I preferred Kevin Owens kicking it old school and going ballistic on Randy Orton. I don’t know where it goes but I’m fine with Owens “keeping it real”.

Some people griped about the Bloodline Match with Roman Reigns losing clean to Solo Sikoa. Many also noted how this match had the least “wrestling” as well which should have been expected. The Bloodline and all those associated have never been great wrestlers. They are “ass-kickers” for all intents and purposes. If you’re looking to them for a fine wrestling match, you’re setting yourself up for disappointment. You look to them for someone to get stuffed.

I can’t say that’s what happened to Reigns. Maybe after the match but that, I think, is the point. Reigns is having an existential crisis. Yet, given his “hot jock” presentation, we can safely expect that facing this sort of opposition has “never happened to him” before. I think it’s all a way to advance the story and add some sense of a 3rd dimension to Reigns. Now, we just have to see if they veer off into a soap opera tone or have Reigns return with a vengeance. It all depends on the game plan and if it’s fleshed out yet. The match served its purpose if you ask me. I’m not sure where they’re going but I don’t mind Reigns getting a reality check. Builds character 😉

Let’s just take a brief aside to the Realm of AEW as Reigns’ estranged brother from another mother, Jon Moxley/Dean Ambrose continues to wreak havoc upon AEW. Caught him slapping Wheeler Yuta silly for not hopping to it and putting the hurt on Orange Cassidy. I liked how Cassidy handled himself, though. He’s a good worker, I’ve seen that but alas, what is he like 150 pounds, tops? Not sure that’s gonna stop the likes of Mox. I get the feeling Cassidy gets straight bullied at Full Gear. We’ll see if Darby Allin crashes and lends some assistance. I’ll follow up with that when the time comes.

In any case, let’s swing back around to the WWE Universe as we have some pre-recorded action for tonight’s RAW. The Saudi Crowd got an extra dose as they taped RAW Fallout over there this week. There’s not much advertised but we can expect Chad Gable to get back into the mix with Dragon Lee. There will be a Fatal-4-Way for the #1 Contender for the Heavyweight Championship that will have Dominik Mysterio, Damian Priest, Seth Rollins and Sheamus doing the dance for a shot at the marbles. And we’ll hear from our Crown Jewel Champions in Liv Morgan and Cody Rhodes.

You’ll have to watch if you want to see what the rest of the show is about. Unofficial Watch Party will be at 8pm PST. Feel free to join the fun if you can’t think of anything else. It’s a pretty chill time. Shouldn’t break you.

See You in a Bit,
