SmackDown Preps to Be Out of the Office for Crown Jewel...

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts?

Happy Friday! Well, it’s a busy night in Southern California as all sorts of things are going on tonight. The Lakers have a game. World Series, Game 1 is on and there are few other events that have the streets set to be all jammed up in a few hours. I’ll be safe inside but good luck to all those out there in the thick of it.

As for the Wrestling World, there are some things rattling around but I’m only going to talk about a few of them. Are you up for it? Let’s get into it.

I’ll take a quick pit stop in the Realm of AEW as I do have my eyes on the BCC/Jon Moxley “usurpation” of AEW. I saw that “disclaimer” they were using for this week’s Dynamite warning everyone of Mox’s expected presence and I would have only used that in the locker room. There’s something about this angle that seems best not forced. Given the tone of the fan comments I’ve been seeing, most aren’t really sure where this is going or if they even like it so, I wouldn’t try too hard with it. I’d just proceed with this, Mox attempting to take over, being the state of affairs. So, that means the roster has more trouble than we as fans do. I’m not sure if they care that much yet but this should be a gradual burn.

I think this story is best told with the roster trying to figure out what to do than to try to instill fear in our hearts. I’m never going to take it that seriously. However, the fun comes in how everyone tries to counter. This is why, I think, around the three-quarter mark of this tale, someone tases Mox. The psych hold is over, he found the culprit and dealt with it accordingly and should be bordering on “unhinged”. I’m thinking someone like either Chris Jericho or Christian Cage takes him out with a taser before he even starts up with either of them the next time he tries.

I don’t see why the roster has to sit by and take it, especially after Mox gets carted off. His is a type that needs to get checked or you have the behavior we’re seeing. He’ll just run roughshod. So, the old-hands should start holding their ground. I don’t really mind who does it, it just seems like Jericho and/or Cage would be par for the course. Jericho seems to have some saltiness to him so, I can see him sick of Mox’s shit just ‘cause. Cage, however, can use it to “set an example”, given his gimmick. Demonstrate why discipline is needed.

Conversely, the roster pushing back forces Mox to either get crafty or deteriorate further into madness, it all depends on what works and where they’re going. Just mind the ridiculous factor. I don’t mind over the top but it can’t get stupid. It’s a fine line but they have to mind it. If this is going to be the state of affairs for the time being, they got to make sure it doesn’t fizzle out before the getting gets good. Good luck to them.

In the WWE Universe, it is again tinged with less savory news as Vince McMahon among others have another lawsuit to contend with. This one dealing with the “Ring Boy Scandal”. Apparently there was some questionable happenings with underage boys during the 90s and now those chickens are coming around to roost. I haven’t looked too deeply into this but it doesn’t sound good.

There’s not much I can really say. The 80s and 90s were different times. Not to condone the acts but a lot of things went unchecked or brushed off as “coming with the territory”. That’s what happens when you lead with sex, drugs and rock n’roll. All I can say is that I hope the truly hurt and affected get their due. Consent is the big problem with this round and all I can do is hope that any wrongs get righted. Here’s hoping for justice.

In lighter news, Becky Lynch will have a panel at this year’s Vulture Festival in November. She’ll talk about her memoir, career and whatever may be next. Technically, I could attend but I can’t say that I would. Looks like a lot of cool people are set to make appearances but it’s not enough to move me. It doesn’t appear to be structured like a convention. Entry doesn’t get you access. You have to buy separate tickets for the panel/celebrity you want to see. I’m not trying to spend money like that. But for those who are up for it, please have a great time. Just not enough incentive for me.

And so, that brings us to tonight’s SmackDown. I’m pretty sure it’s a double-header tonight since next week has Crown Jewel. For tonight we can expect to see The Motor City Machine Guns take on some guys their size in the form of DIY. Andrade and Carmelo Hayes will go for the 457th time. This time, LA Knight is referee. And Cody Rhodes and GUNTHER will have another chat before Crown Jewel. For all else you’ll have to watch. Unofficial watch party is at 8pm PDT. Join in if you want to.

See You in a Bit,

-Nicole Alexis (^_~)
