SmackDown Gets Everyone Back to Work....
How’s It Going, Enthusiasts?
Happy Friday! So, there’s not much to chat about but what there is, we could go for a while on so I’ll keep this post to the point. Ready to get into it? Let’s dive in.
In the Realm of AEW, we have the fallout of Bryan Danielson’s/Daniel Bryan’s full-time retirement as Jon Moxley has declared himself “in-charge” of AEW and is pretty much just taking over with BCC. If I’m looking at it right, Mox is taking the advice of doubling-down on himself. You don’t find any of this familiar? He’s running with a crew, who jumps fools while he rocks the mic declaring that a new order is in town. Meanwhile, everyone is pissed! Jon Moxley is Dean Ambrose and Dean Ambrose is Jon Moxley. We’ve seen this before. This is how the SHIELD rolled and now he’s got more cronies and way more clout. There appears to be a new “Architect” on the block.
This is where it gets interesting to me because you can go in a lot of different directions. I hope AEW Creative is doing some research on his SHIELD history because that could definitely be used in telling this story. Also, the former WWE stars who are affected should start to make this correlation. Where’s Edge/Adam Copeland when you need him. He’d be calling Mox out right now. And you know there’s going to be factions teaming up against them and at some point, BCC will have to implode. It could be a lot of fun. All I’ll say at this point is I hope they pace themselves. This doesn’t have to pop off right away but the seeds and crumbs should be planted.
Also, let’s not forget that the “Lunatic Fringe’s” mental health can definitely come into question. Perhaps that’s how Tony Khan can enter the fray at some point. Someone is savvy and tries to have Moxley “removed” by “legal means” instead of going to battle. There’s a lot you can do here and I hope they have fun playing with it.
I’ve always liked Mox/Ambrose and I still feel he belongs in WWE and with a story like this, if he ever decides to leave, his exit could be quite dramatic to say the least. Here’s to hoping for a defection/crossover someday. It’d be a lot of fun if properly executed.
In the WWE Universe, the big news is that The Undertaker has the former President Donald Trump scheduled for his podcast. Many commenters are disappointed by this but also somewhat aware of Undertaker’s conservative politics. I’ve never been a fan of the Undertaker, just never got him, but this doesn’t necessarily affirm my dislike. I try to keep politics out of this because I view it as a sort of “safe space” and these sorts of disagreements should be left at the door so that we can forget for a while and be thoroughly entertained. For what it’s worth, however, it is comforting to see that much of the IWC is fairly liberal so this is not a complete loss. I won’t tune in but I’ll keep an eye on social media and see if it gets roasted.
And so that brings us to tonight’s SmackDown. There’s not much advertised but that has never stopped me from tuning in before. We can expect a Tag Team Triple Threat Match between the likes of DIY, Pretty Deadly and the Street Profits. Cody Rhodes will share some thoughts on his upcoming match with GUNTHER at Crown Jewel. And Roman Reigns will see if there’s anyway to bridge the gap with Solo Sikoa. Well, we all know this lot doesn’t use their words so, we’ll see how that goes.
Unofficial watch party is at 8pm PDT. Join in if you got a free evening. Pick your platform and play along.
See You in a Bit,
