SmackDown Doesn't Ask Questions. BackLash It Is...

Image
How’s It Going, Enthusiasts. Happy Friday! Well, there isn’t that much going on that I feel is discussion worthy but we should have enough to get the gist of what’s basically going on in the Wrestling World. Up for a brief chat? Let’s do it. We’ll just take a quick stop in the Realm of AEW as Samoa Joe has basically taken it upon himself to solve the Jon Moxley problem. It seems to be effective so far, so that’s promising. The Future appears to be beginning to take shape so, we’ll let whatever comes may ‘cause it’s gonna be a bit before things get really interesting. Might as well let others get some action in the meantime. It all has to properly build. As they were. In the WWE Universe, there’s some administrative business in motion as the periodic cuts affected staff this time around and the talent cuts just dropped. Those of note are Braun Strowman (again), Shayna Baszler and Dakota Kai. These aren't exactly shockers but still a little unfortunate. Strowman seemed to be improvin...

RAW Declares It's All About BackLash...

Image
How’s It Going, Enthusiasts?   Did you have a good weekend? Looks like TNA had a PPV on Sunday. And wouldn’t you know it? BackLash is coming up fast in the WWE Universe. There’s not a whole lot that has grabbed my interest but I think we can find enough to have a brief chat. You up for it? Let’s have a little fun.   Well, last week’s SmackDown was a blast for a lot of reasons. The Tables, Ladders & Chairs Match was one of the finer ones of recent times and the crowd participation you couldn’t ask for. A patron with a prosthetic leg offered it as a weapon in the melee and Montez Ford was willing to oblige. You can’t make stuff like that up so can’t even start to complain.   Personally, I was totally stoked to welcome back Aleister “Malakai” Black. They feel the same way I do and basically picked up where they left off. That’s fine by me. They should handle him like making up for lost time.   A lot of fans were a little disappointed in the lack of ...

WrestleMania 41 - SmackDown Fallout

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts? Happy Friday! Well, there isn’t a great deal going on in the Wrestling World this week, but there’s enough to chat about. You up for it? Let’s get to it. We’ll take a brief stop in the Realm of AEW as the rapper, Master P, stopped by to issue Jon Moxley some “love taps” while Samoa Joe proceeded to proclaim his new focus on claiming the Title. Swerve Strickland was close by as well. Is this the end of the Death Riders? To be honest, it looks like it’s just “the beginning”. There must be ups and downs to make this all compelling. This is all to rev up what’s next or at least, it should be. So far, a 6.5 isn’t looking too bad on Mox and that’s good. He’s going to have to hover here for a while but I doubt it will be boring. Let it all cook, as the kids say 😉 In the Land of Free Agency, more or less, Bishop Dyer fka Baron Corbin has some choice words for WWE Brass for switching out Bayley for WrestleMania. I could sympathize because Bayley is solid and deserv...

WrestleMania 41 - RAW Fallout

Image
How’s It Going, Enthusiasts?   WrestleMania is over and we now come to terms with the new “reality”. Iyo Sky succeeded. Cody Rhodes failed and it looks like Rusev has returned along with Becky Lynch. It’s a lot to consider. Let’s take a moment to break it down and digest.   Though, most fans enjoyed Day 2 on the whole many didn’t care for the finish of Travis Scott coming in and clearing the way for Cena to win. It wasn’t quite as cut and dry as it sounds but the end result was what it was.   Personally, I didn’t really mind it. Cena was all business out there and looked poised to end things on his terms. Rhodes hung in there but we kinda new the odds would be stacked against him, we just didn’t know in what way. Scott coming in to fudge the outcome did make things a bit anticlimactic but that was the problem with the whole set up from the get-go.   This is why I would have preferred Cena to be more blatantly Heel as opposed to “Anti-Face”. This quest...

WrestleMania 41 - Matches of Interest (Day 2)

Image
Happy WrestleMania! Did you enjoy Day 1? I liked it though it was a bit formulaic. Given how it has been hit or miss for years, I respect the back to basics reset. This puts things on firmer footing going forward which was always necessary.  Match of the Night appears to be, hands down, the main event with Paul Heyman being the primary player. He turns on both CM Punk and Roman Reigns to side with The Architect, Seth Rollins. It was fun, I have to admit. Everyone played their parts well and the action was satisfying. As the night seemed to demonstrate, they all stuck to the book. This appears to be the Seth Rollins Era as “The Plan” goes into effect. What that means exactly remains to be seen but the beginning is compelling.  Outside of that, I’m kinda glad I had the lay of the land read. There were no surprises besides who was in attendance to an extent. Most announced are known fans or affiliates so again, a very textbook sentiment seems to be in the air. Again, I don’t mind...

WrestleMania 41 - Matches of Interest (Day 1)

Image
Happy WrestleMania, Enthusiasts! Are you excited for the show? I can’t say that I’m giddy with anticipation but the curiosity is pretty high. I’ll admit that. So, I’ll discuss a few of the matches that have my particular interest and then it’s on with the show. I got enchiladas to make 😉 So, first match we’re looking at is rumored to be Jey Uso vs. GUNTHER for the Heavyweight Championship. Jey went against general advice and went for the Emmy. Will he win it? Doubtful but there is an outside chance they give him the Championship.  Say what you will about Gunther, he does serve the role well and is settling into it nicely. I don’t mind him being champion. However, Jey has been slanging for a while and if this isn’t his day in the sun, I don’t know when it is. So, I won’t be surprised if Jey gets it but it may not be clean or it could be contentious. I also don’t expect his reign to be long but it should be the compliment it ought to be. This is as good a time as ever and Gunther co...

SmackDown Meets RAW at the Finish Line to WrestleMania...

Image
How’s It Going, Enthusiasts! It is another WrestleMania Eve and we are all gathered to see how tonight’s SmackDown kicks everything off. It will be a full weekend of wrestling and I just gathered the final provisions for holing myself up for it all. I’m going to be well-fed and comfortable. How about you 😉 As for the Wrestling World, I think you’d say we have at least a couple things to talk about. Let’s break them down a bit, shall we?  First, we’ll check in with the Realm of AEW as the Championship has finally been taken from Jon Moxley. Samoa Joe was able to put him down and change the script for the time being. Personally, I thought it all kinda happened “easily” so, I’m not sure if that was just to sell the story or if it’s “ulterior motive” on Mox’s part but this is the ebb and flow that has to happen. Too much of the same gets boring and Mox should understand the theory of when to let “good prevail” in these sorts of scenarios. That’s how we all got here in the first place...

RAW Says It's Time to Sprint to WrestleMania....

Image
How’s It Going, Enthusiasts?   Happy WrestleMania Go-Home Week! Since that’s where we’re at, there isn’t much going on in the Wrestling World other than people trying to get some attention riding the WrestleMania coattails so, let’s get into the discussion. It should be short.   We pitstop first in the Realm of AEW to see how the Death Riders fare while PAC recovers. Jon Moxley does the honorable thing and steps into the vacant space. He also offered us a rather poignant promo to explain the next steps and I have to say, I wasn’t expecting it. With moments like these, the future may become so bright I’ll need to wear sunglasses. I wasn’t even aiming for the sun.   That said, I’ll leave them with 1 last piece of advice and then I’ll just get cryptic to allow the future to properly germinate. When all the “real stuff” goes down and Mox is finally left with a “choice”, just remember that this is not a “breakdown” it is a “relapse”. Mind the nuance and surprise th...

SmackDown Matches Pace Following RAW into WrestleMania....

Image
How’s It Going, Enthusiasts? Enjoying your Friday? This was supposed to be more eventful but that appears to be holding over for the weekend. No matter, as long as it happens 😉 As for the Wrestling World, there’s some stuff we can talk about, certainly. Ready for it? Let’s break it down. We’ll stop in the Realm of AEW since this week was their Dynasty PPV Fallout Dynamite show. Well, with the Young Bucks back on the scene, Jon Moxley made it clear that they’re not exactly in league with each other so, the plot twist does make for some mild intrigue. Just the sort of thing needed to set whatever this is up for the “long game”. That’s good enough for me for now. There’s a lot of time for the “real stuff” to get going. This sort of thing is good groundwork. It can establish a sort of “reasonable doubt” while his enemies build a case. Mox can have moments of clarity when he wants to. The Future remains Bright. Continue. Yet, this week it’s PAC who got the attention since he appeared to g...
