RAW Leads the Way to the Royal Rumble!!!!

Greetings Enthusiasts!

I hope you’re one of the lucky ones who got today off.  I can’t say that I’m complaining.  So, here we are again at another Go-Home show for the Royal Rumble.  There’s not much advertised.  As we know, Finn Bálor earned the #1 Contender spot against Brock Lesnar now he his job is to sell this match.  When I say this, the real key is making this match believable.  For smarks and perhaps potential new fans, this match-up hinges upon the “sell”.  How believable this match-up comes off is what makes us want to watch it.  Now, this is a quintessential “David vs. Goliath” match.  What the WWE has to focus on is making us believe Finn Bálor honestly has a shot and come the actual match, it has to be honestly portrayed as if he has a chance.  And "truthishly", the only real way to do that is give Bálor the smarts.  He has to outsmart Lesnar to some degree if he’s going to win.  We know the game is inherently rigged, the trick is to make us believe it’s not.  If this match is going to get any traction, we have to believe there is one.  That’s going to be Bálor’s job tonight.

As for the Ladies, they’re going to keep the fire going under Ronda Rousey’s and Sasha Banks’ building rivalry.  I’m glad Banks is getting back in the picture.  How to keep things fair within a deep roster will probably be tricky but it can be done.  For once, we don’t have to worry about a lack of talent; the problem is using everyone effectively.  We’ll see what the ladies do with their current opportunity but in other news, how Creative is handling the talent is becoming a real issue backstage I hear.

Word is that a lot of the “B Players” on the roster have been requesting their releases.  With the creation of AEW (All Elite Wrestling), a new wrestling faction partly fronted by Chris Jericho, a lot of the wrestlers that we rarely see are trying to start new lives with the promotion.  Rumor has it that the likes of the Kanellis-es and The Revival, among others have been requesting to be let go to pursue other options.  There’s even been word that the WWE has refused some of these requests.  To be honest, I can’t blame people for considering other pastures.  Though the WWE is
the brightest beacon, some wrestlers may be better off in smaller
promotions.  They’ll get more action and more chances to really hone their craft.

We have to admit that the WWE works more like a popularity contest.  Cesaro may be the best example of that.  He’s a great wrestler.  Awesome in the ring but no one really wants to see him.  People may say he lacks charisma or what have you but for whatever reason, he’s just not that popular so he’s stuck with the other blatant European in Sheamus and made into a Tag Team.  Sheamus is more popular than Cesaro generally speaking but both don’t seem to gain much support on their own.   It may not be fair but they’re better together than apart given the current structure of things within the WWE.  Could that change?  Certainly but will it any time soon?  We have to face that wrestlers like this would probably fair better in an Olympic or competitive arena.  If it really was about winning the match and not entertaining they’d probably have well-decorated careers and honest accolades but this is wrestling entertainment.  It’s more important for the We to be entertained.  So, will everyone keep our interest tonight?  Well, they kind of have to.  Go-Home shows are supposed to get is salivating, absolutely aching for the PPV.  Let’s see if they get us going.  Funny tweets get retweeted and as for Likes/Favorites we’ll see if they prompt us to cough up some gems.

See You in a Bit,
-Nicole Alexis (^_~)
