All Right BackLash, Let's See if This Was All Worth It...

How Goes It, Enthusiasts?

Ready for this here BackLash PPV?  Well, since it’s already filmed and uploaded, let’s hope they took the time to get this palatable.  As usual, I won’t comment on every match, just the ones I think might be interesting. So, let’s get right to it.

So, my first match of interest may not be one for the masses but I feel it will be quite important for the players in Andrade and Apollo Crews.  Crews is in an advantageous position since all the “main players” are sitting things out for the foreseeable future, roster members such as Crews have a chance to shine and show why they play in the Majors.  As for Andrade, he has to have a good enough showing to remain relevant.  More is on the line for these gentlemen than many realize.  After this, we have to presume that even if they have a PPV for July, all this is essentially a build to Summer Slam.  With a good showing here, they may be able to solidify a spot in the bigger show.  We’ll see how they do.

To a lesser degree, I feel the same about Jeff Hardy’s and Sheamus’ match.  They’ve earned their street-cred as far as I’m concerned but given this last set-up, I think redemption may be on their minds.  It probably won’t show here because this was already filmed but going forward, they’re going to have to make us forget all that ever happened.  I don’t doubt their ability.  They got what it takes.

We all know this isn’t a match everyone is waiting for but it is that reason that makes the match between Bobby Lashley and Drew McIntyre kinda interesting.  We all know Lashley has to prove himself here because for the most part, he doesn’t really read well.  He, like Hardy, doesn’t have the best acting skills.  He has to find a way to play with the material so that we get a sense of his wrestling persona.  I don’t doubt his athleticism though his efforts in the ring aren’t often pretty, guys like Kevin Owens prove they don’t have to be.  If he can learn to have some fun out there, he may just earn his keep.  As for McIntyre, he’s has to prove he’s a major player.  Now that we remember his 3MB origins, he has to establish himself as a diamond in the rough and serve as success story.  You too, can rise from “nothing” to hold the title one day.  I don’t doubt the potential but execution will be key.  We’ll see if these guys manage to take it to the next level.

So that leaves us with “The Greatest Match Ever” in Edge vs. Randy Orton.  So, word is this may be an epic that goes on for a good 30 minutes.  I don’t mind this.  I liked what they did for WrestleMania and I don’t mind them getting all melodramatic for the entertainment value.  I think it keeps veterans like these on their toes.  It’s easy to get complacent with the same old, same old in the WWE Universe.  Anything that prompts people to keep upping their game is fine by me.  Gives everyone else something to aspire towards.  I have no problem with them setting this sort of bar.  Let’s see if they manage it.

As for everyone else, it’s a matter of proving they’re worth their paycheck and for the most part, I don’t doubt that being done.   If everyone does their job correctly, they give those on the roster sitting things out something to think about upon their returns.  These guys may earn themselves more substantial spots just by doing this work so, everyone sitting out has to be ready to hit the ground running to prove they deserve TV time.  The future could be very interesting, Enthusiasts.  Hopefully, the spirit of honest competition keeps everyone sharp.  But before all that, let’s see how this BackLash goes.  Funny tweets get retweeted and as for Likes/Favorites, well let’s just see how they edited this puppy together.  There’s a good chance all we really may end up critiquing is their post-production team.  Let’s see what we got to work with.  If they give us some gold, let’s see if anyone spits some back.  I’ll see what I do then.

See You in a Bit,
