SmackDown Welcomes Logan Paul...
Happy Friday, Enthusiasts!
Goodness, got a lot of European traffic in the past 24
hours. Not sure why. Is Logan Paul that popular? These ebbs and flows always
intrigue me. As for wrestling news,
there isn’t that much that caught my interest but there’s enough going on to
chat a little. Let’s get into it.
So, let’s start with AEW. Looks like they don’t need
CM Punk. Ratings came in for this week’s Dynamite and they were the highest
they’ve been all year sans Punk. He’s not quite the draw anymore and
this recent display of his “less becoming” traits would seem to indicate some
AEW solidarity amongst viewers/fans. If I’m WWE, I use this to tempt him back
to the “Dark Side”. He may say it was killing him, but I get the feeling in
strange way, that life keeps him alive. We’ll see what happens. I’m sure they
can be more accommodating this time around if they can keep things interesting
with him.
Heading over to WWE, Bray Wyatt may be overvaluing
himself. Talks are on hold between him and WWE. Sounds like they haven’t found a
number they can both agree on. I feel WWE has leverage here. Though Wyatt is
popular, not everything he does is gold. Yet, he can hit gold and I think he should
be humble until he finds a real sweet spot.
As I keep saying, The Fiend was very flawed though embraced
by the Horror crowd. He’s got to get over across the board if he wants to throw
weight around. I feel a demented preacher version is still the key. He has to
allow for the madness not try to revel and feed off it. In these times of “self-care”,
this is a difficult concept to sell. I point to CM Punk’s recent missed “work”
of late as example. Though Punk’s attitude has nothing to do with the
supernatural, the attempt to drum up interest in the vein of drama backfired
very much for similar reasons. Societal shifts aren’t allowing for toxicity and
both The Fiend and Punk, to a more realistic degree, are “toxic”. You can’t
sell it anymore.
10-20 years ago, you could wallow in the darkness
more. Nowadays, you’re encouraged to find a healthier headspace. A demented preacher
believes s/he has. So, how is it “toxic”? This sort of angle allows for engagement
that a wider audience can appreciate as a unique oddity which could slip into
hilarity without much effort. I feel that is the path to longevity for Wyatt.
It still allows for reinvention and keeps him from being unnecessarily scrutinized,
an underlying goal in this industry. There’s truth in what I’m saying. All they
have to do is try it.
That’s enough to bring us to tonight’s action. The big
news is that Logan Paul will be in attendance. The word is that he and Roman
Reigns are set to throwdown for the next Crown Jewel show. Outside of that we
can expect some Tag Team action but if you want specifics, you’ll have to watch
for yourself. Funny tweets and Likes get retweeted. Relax and have some fun. We’ve
got some time before it’s PLE/PPV time.
See You in a Bit,
-Nicole Alexis (^_~)
