SmackDown Leaves a Go Home Message Before Clash at the Castle...

What’s Going On, Enthusiasts?

Are you in a heatwave? Well, I live by the beach so, I don’t really feel I can complain too much. But it is hot. Summer showing up later and later each year. In any case, there are few tidbits we can talk about in the wrestling world. Let’s get into it, shall we?

So, let’s start in the “American League” with AEW. There’s talk about the roster being a bit disgruntled. There’s been a lot of rumors about tension in the AEW locker room and some of the malcontents are said to be Malakai/Aleister Black and Miro/Rusev. Well, these are just rumors so it’s hard to say how much merit comes with them, but I’ve made it clear that I am all for them to return to the WWE Universe. I can see Black still having a bad taste in his mouth but the truth of it is that WWE has the production values to make his gimmick work. It was working before he left and now that Triple H is in the driver’s seat, he can potentially pick up where he left off. Naturally, there would have to be some minor retooling, given what happened but I think a sort of reboot could be done with relative ease. Same with Rusev. I doubt we’d mind if he brought Lana with him and all he as to decide is whether to do the accent or not. I’m down.

In WWE News, it sounds like we shouldn’t hold our breath for a Gable Stevenson debut. It would appear that the Sports Entertainment life doesn’t come naturally to the collegiate athlete. He’s yet to impress at the Performance Center so, we’ll see what they end up doing with him. Sounds kinda like what happened to Parker Boudreaux. They have the look but may not have the charm/appeal. That’s a tough one. They either have to endeavor to learn how to perform or think of another career path. Haven’t heard much about Boudreaux over at AEW so, there that is.

When it comes to returns, however, it sounds like we’ll get to greet Braun Strowman to the WWE fold again. Some fans aren’t thrilled but I don’t mind him. He’s seems like he’s a nice guy. He just has to learn how to have fun with this whole Sports Entertainment/pro-wrestling thing. He had his moments and I think he could become a formidable roster player once he gets the subtle nuances of performance. Personally, I think the old guard wanted him to be meaner than he really is and there was just an inherent disconnect. He really just has to be effective. He’s a big dude. He can intimidate and he can be funny when he can manage it. I think they just have to let him find a more comical groove and it’ll be fine. Guess we’ll see.

And so that brings us to tonight’s pre-recorded Go Home action. Everyone had to get on a plane and fly across the pond and have time to recover from the jet lag. They should be sleeping soundly as I type. As they get their well-deserved rest, we will watch Butch/Pete Dunne take on Ludwig Kaiser. Ronda Rousey will get her “final verdict” in terms of her suspension. Hit Row will take on the really, really, ridiculously good-looking Maximum Male Models. The New Day will box the Viking Raiders under “Viking Rules” and Karrion Kross will actually get in the ring to wrestle. While we witness all of this, Roman Reigns will make us celebrate his 2 years at the top of heap. Get the feeling Drew McIntyre may crash this party. In the meantime, funny tweets and Likes will get retweeted if you got ‘em. It’s Labor Day Weekend in the States so, I don’t blame you if you find other stuff to do. Stay cool out there.

See You in a Bit,

-Nicole Alexis (^_~)
