SmackDown Tries to Stay Positive Ahead of the Royal Rumble...

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts?

This is kind of a bizarre and upsetting week. A lot of mishaps and accidents in the news. As many of you know, the Wrestling World was not spared. Let’s chat a bit about what’s going on.

First off, sincere condolences to the family of Jay Briscoe. I didn’t see much of The Briscoes but I definitely heard of them and they seemed like a lot of fun. I know the homophobic statements that they made a few years ago have haunted them recently but they seemed to get the point of wrasslin’ and tag-teaming.

Briscoe died in a car accident and the kicker is that he apparently wasn’t wearing his seatbelt. We can’t help but feel if he had just taken that precaution, he may have survived. No doubt he’d be banged up but alive. It sounds like his daughters are still hospitalized but they are in stable condition thankfully. Such a shame. It goes to remind you that there is no guarantee that any of us will live one moment longer. Enjoy all the time that you have. Let your loved ones know that you care.

In some lighter news, endings lead to new beginnings and the Wrestling World can celebrate a birth as Cassie Lee, f.k.a. Peyton Royce, and Shawn Spears welcomed a son this week. Blessings and Congratulations to the happy family!

Elsewhere, for those who have their reservations about the sale of WWE, looks like some old business may put that on the back burner for a moment as the news of settlement dies down. The sexual assault accuser of Mr. Vince McMahon has finalized the legal action against him and she stands to gain millions of dollars for this decades old transgression. Just goes to show how Karma always comes back around and gets ya. Keep your noses clean out there, folks.

The upside is if you didn’t like the idea of WWE being sold, regardless of your feelings on its management, this news isn’t the best for a valuation. Chances are they’re going to wait until this becomes old news before resuming, so you can breathe easy for now. You can always count on profit winning out above all else in a scenario like this.

In other news, it doesn’t look like we should expect Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson at Wrestlemania 39. Word is he doesn’t anticipate he can get in ring shape by that time. That doesn’t mean they can’t start the teases for Wrestlemania 40. I’ve already stated that they should probably wait for a milestone year anyway. That way they can go completely bonkers with the show. If we’re going to have a Roman Reigns vs. The Rock showdown, might as well. I hope they have a lot of fun with it.

Speaking of Roman Reigns, that brings us to tonight’s SmackDown.  He is set to have the “Contract Signing” with Kevin Owens for their match at the Royal Rumble. We’ll see if Sami Zayn is around to have a discussion with Reigns regarding what happened last week. We also have some Tag Team action to look forward to as the “Banger Bros”, I’m thinking that’s Sheamus and Drew McIntyre, take on the Viking Raiders. The rest we can safely assume will be Royal Rumble related as we have qualifying matches and more wrestlers declaring entry.

Let’s see how they fill up these 2 hours. Ratings have faltered somewhat upon Mr. McMahon’s return. We’ll see if they have any luck in taking our minds off that.

See You in a Bit,

-Nicole Alexis (^_~)
