RAW Sends Everyone Home for the Rumble...per Usual...
How's It Going, Enthusiasts?
Enjoying your Monday? It's
just a little chilly in my part of the world. Not much to really complain about
so I try to keep my mouth shut. As for the Wrestling World, there are a few
things we
can kick around. Feel limbered up? Let's get to it.
Saturday Night: Main
Event came
and went and I have to say that the high point came from Shawn Michaels
otherwise known as the "Heartbreak Kid". He may be pushing 100 but he
can still dish out that chin music and I guess that's all that matters. Kevin
Owens ramped up to 11 to deserve it and it all worked out
beautifully. If they can work in organic bits of nostalgia like that, I'm all
for it but at the same time, you see how you kinda have to let it happen. This
can't be forced. Let the pieces fall together and let it happen. Accept and
work within the parameters of the medium.
Live entertainment gets its special
bite from its inherent spontaneity. Sometimes shit happens and you have to go
with it and that's what makes it a great moment. Couldn't be scripted. It just
had to happen. Not to say the spot wasn't planned but it's the little bobbles,
the sweat that make it all the more real and therefore exciting. I say stick to
it. It was 1997 for about 2 minutes and it was awesome.
As for the show itself, as
much as some commenters may gripe that it's just a glorified house show, it was
well-executed and that's all I really ask. You can't get too crazy on broadcast
so sticking to the general standard is fine with me given. The ladies were
respectable, setting the tone for the evening. Jacob Fatu showed us how to win
over a crowd and the 2 matches I had my eyes on played out more or less along
similar logic. I had a nice, entertaining time. Don't see what the problem with
that is.
There were no surprises, which was anticipated but no one should be upset with their performance. The assignment was understood and completed. Perhaps in the future some surprises can go down but for now, I don't blame them for just establishing a baseline. Let's see how this evolves for the time being.
In the Land of Free Agency,
word is that Aleister/Malakai Black may have to wait until after WrestleMania
to re-debut. What’s going around is
that his contract isn’t actually up until March or April so…there’s that. However,
I would be willing to buy him out if I were WWE. I’m not sure what the legalities
are but if there’s a way to pay for it, I would. Given everything, WWE kinda owes
him I’d say. I wouldn’t ask for it, if I were him. I’d let them come to the decision.
He should be a Royal Rumble entrant and if this is all to disinform us, I’ll
happily play ignorant. They need to straight pick up where they left off with
that guy. Letting him go was a huge mistake.
Over in the WWE Universe,
there has been an official acquisition as Jordynne Grace has been offered a multi-year
deal. We all saw that writing on the wall so it looks like they finally transferred
it to paper or at the very least to PDF. I haven’t seen too much of her work
but I’m not worried about her. I always thought she’d probably be good talent
to pick up and it appears that they agree. Good enough for me.
And so, that brings us to tonight’s RAW. Not too much advertised for this evening though the spoilers drifting in speak of JD McDonagh taking more of a bump than he anticipated. Let’s hope he’s all right. As for what’s scheduled, Sami Zayn is set to learn the hard way against Drew McIntyre. Looks like the War Raiders are who get McDonagh conked on the head alongside Dominik Mysterio. Logan Paul is set to stop by and Cody Rhodes will continue to uphold his Undisputed Championship reign duties.
The unofficial replay party
will start during the 8 o’clock hour. We can be a little more lax in the future.
If you can fit it in, please stop by. It’s always been a more the merrier sort
of thing.
See You in a Bit,
-Nicole Alexis (^_~)
