SmackDown Welcomes 2025 with 3 Hours...
Happy New Year, Enthusiasts!
Ready for a new year in the Wrestling World? I
wouldn’t say it’s my life but it’s definitely an important pastime for me. 2025
is a 9 Year for you numerologists out there so, this should be a year of
completion for a few things. As you can see, RAW will be on Netflix this
year, officially making it a part of the modern era and tonight SmackDown
will commemorate being 3 hours for the foreseeable future. And so, minor but as
you can see, it more or less illustrates my point. Things won’t be the same in
some areas this year. We’ll see how that plays out overall.
As for tonight’s post, we’ll start over in the
Realm of AEW. With Adam Copeland/Uncle Edge back in the mix, I feel that things can
be left to him to steer for a little while, especially since he can tout an Emmy
Nomination at present. Something that this sort never seriously hope to achieve
so, there’s some clout for everyone to chew on. With his insight at their disposal
the Death Riders Saga can proceed with some reasonable oversight. I feel Uncle
Edge will keep it from diving into the “deep end” so to speak. This stuff can
get stupid so fast that I feel with him around, it will at least remain believable.
This clunker may just land cleanly yet. I’ll be keeping an eye on it and will
offer up my take if I feel something ought to be said but I trust Uncle Edge. This
should go palatably enough.
I'll just close that if/when the psych hold is implemented on Jon Moxley, to not only abide by the state laws that it occurs in, but have a heel do the job. When you think about it, it's a dick move for sure because it crosses the kayfabe line in theory. If it were really done, there could be real repercussions so the task should be done by someone who either is looking for or doesn't mind some heat. My vote is for MJF 😉 Besides, it should make the payback that much sweeter. There's even the off chance that it makes the heel of choice a face depending on what Mox does to deserve it. Attempted murder is a fair start.
Over in the WWE Universe, how to stage John Cena’s
Farewell Tour seems to have a lot of attention. Word is that a showdown with Cody
Rhodes should occur at some point. I find this interesting because they rarely
have a Battle of the Faces. Will someone have to sour in order to make this
work? If so, who? Both are known for not wanting to be the “Bad Guy”. Well,
since it’s Cena’s swan song, if someone has to be…unpleasant, I’m thinking it’s
Rhodes but perhaps they could have a gentlemanly contest and have some of the regular
heels stir up conflict/drama.
I only bring this up because a contest without
conflict can be boring. There’s nothing wrong with sportsmanship at the Olympics
but we all know the WWE Universe is a far cry from that. It’s a world that hinges
upon technicalities and shady opportunities. So, a match with the premise of
being “fair and honorable” seems laughable or a snooze fest. Cena should go out
with a bit of a bang. I’m hoping this is not forgotten in the attempt to work
everyone in. We’ll see what happens.
That’s all I have on my mind. So, let’s get to tonight’s
SmackDown. Not much is advertised for 3 hours of madness but perhaps to
mark each hour we can expect, Shinsuke Nakamura in action against Andrade.
Naomi will try again to take the Women’s Championship off Nia Jax. And a Fatu
heavy 6-Man-Tag will have The Usos taking in Sami Zayn to battle the Bloodline 2.0.
If you don’t have plans, block out 8pm – 11pm. Make yourself comfortable and
enjoy the show. The unofficial watch party will start then, Pacific Time. Stop
by if you don’t have any better ideas.
See You in a Bit,
-Nicole Alexis (^_~)
