SummerSlam This SmackDown!

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts!

Well, I hope.  Goodness, RAW got some fallout all right out of SummerSlam and it appears to have come in the form of the fans.  We had ourselves a tag team match last night, one I feel WWE Creative would have thought a good premise for a contest yet the only problem, the crowd wasn’t having it.  We had John Cena and Roman Reigns paired up with The Miz and Samoa Joe for a shits & giggles tag team match.  Though the match was what it was, the crowd let it be known that they did not care for either “Face” of the company.  They were quite rude even for a New York crowd and to be honest, their detest for the scenario rivaled a scene of open rebellion.  For the most part, the crowd comes around for Cena to take the win but this display marks a potentially larger issue for the WWE.  The conflict between “What’s best for business” and what the Fans want has been greatly contested for years and last night seemed to mark more of a public, mild protest.  Since this protest was performed somewhat petulantly, the WWE has the opportunity to take the High Road but, we’ll see.  They may take this as fodder to antagonize further.  Not sure what they’re going to do or how they’re going to contend but I’ll tell you what, things just got really interesting.

And so, SmackDown has the delicate task of mitigating tensions tonight.  I’m not sure how riled the fans actually are.  In my opinion, content has been better than it has been in the past few years but it could still be more coherent.  SmackDown does a good job of generally making sense.  Perhaps they can keep things to a simmer because to be honest, there isn’t much to complain about.  If you get this genre, you know what you’ll be watching stands to be hit or miss.  TNA/Impact doesn’t do a much better job and Global Force and New Japan do their thing and keep it more to the wrestling.  By now, if you’re a long standing Enthusiast, you should more or less know what you’re getting into.  You have a right to disagree but don’t show up to bring down the show.  Move on to something else if you really don’t like it anymore.  No one told anyone to show up or watch.  If it sucks it sucks.  Let low ratings and low ticket sales speak the volumes it does.  Otherwise quit your bitching and try to have a good time.  Funny tweets get retweeted and Likes/Favorites…well, why don’t you tell me.

See You in a Bit,
