Well, RAW Is Certainly Acting Like the "A" Show....

How’s It Hanging, Enthusiasts?

For this post, I will take a slightly different approach because something has come to light for me.  I suppose it was always there but now that I write for The Wrestling Movement, some of my articles require I do a little research.  Doing so has been enlightening.   Taking a deeper look, you realize that WWE only half knows what it’s doing meaning that wrestlers have to essentially fend for themselves.

The WWE Creative Department may have a vague understanding of how to book a match but they only have a basic grasp of presenting Drama.   Wrestlers have to fill in those blanks.  What made that so apparent was an article I was tasked to submit on Finn Balor.  I really feel bad for that dude.   After looking at the evidence, he simply trusted WWE too much.  He was like Ned Stark.  He didn’t know how to play the “Game” and “died” for it.   Let that be a lesson to all the wrestlers on the WWE roster.  If you want to succeed in that company, you better work on selling yourself.  They will not do it for you.  I really hope Balor gets another shot.  He does have the talent but everyone will have to work together to sell the concept.  If they ever pull the trigger on him again, they all better band together and get it right.  Balor should maintain control of the character as well.  It will take a lot of work but WWE has the resources.  Someone will have to find the illusionist(s) to sell the tricks, the stage lighting and special effects crews to back it up, all of it.  Balor should focus on developing his character and brush up on his Gaelic if he has any.  That should be in use for promos, especially with the UK wrestlers.   The more ancient he seems the better.  They’re going to have to invest in selling the myth.   Half-assing it just won’t do.  I’ll let you know when the article drops.  Let me know if I nailed on the head.

And so, if you’re ever wondering why someone was forgotten about or was left to do some lame segment, the answer is as simple as it looks.  Creative didn’t know what to do with them, so they gave some shtick to do to fill the time.   Wrestlers need to catch wise and make the most of their airtime.  Hopefully, it’s not so bad that they’re forced to shoot.  Yet, they shouldn’t be reluctant to push back on the material.  It isn’t that great.  If they have something better, they should speak up.

I have to admit, I will be looking at everything with these new eyes.   My blog will probably turn into a faux lifesaver as I note the wrestlers who may not know how to sell/save themselves.  There are a lot of good wrestlers in WWE.  Not sure if there are a lot of great performers.  Understand that to work in the WWE, you have to be both.  If the wrestling isn’t that great, then a wrestler better figure out how to drum up some action.  Ironically, the WWE Universe isn’t that big on wrestling.   It's big on action.    If a wrestler wants to focus on the craft, WWE is not for them.   They’re better suited for Ring of Honor or New Japan.   In the WWE Universe, a wrestler has to do whatever wrestling they have to but more importantly, look good doing it.   This is the main reason The Miz remains employed.  We all know he’s not a great wrestler but he knows how to be on TV.   In that case, he’s got a lot of guys beat.   Everyone has to find their unique blend of skill and presentation.

And so, that brings us to tonight’s RAW.  Well, the action appears to be stacked but the early reports are spotty.  Dominik Mysterio and Seth Rollins are set for round 2 in a steel cage.  Asuka will defend the RAW Women’s Title against the veteran Mickie James.   The Street Profits will battle Cesaro & Shinsuke Nakamura for bragging rights and Drew McIntyre and Keith Lee will go at it?…I thought they were on the same team?  Is this just to keep McIntyre loose?  We’ll see what they try to sell us.   Funny tweets get retweeted and as for Likes/Favorites, well, just make sure you pick on the right thing going forward.  Is it the wrestling?  The segment?  Or the performance?  Where the problem is, alludes to a different conclusion.

See You in a Bit,
