RAW Is Set for Quite a Bit of Fallout - HIAC and All...

Oh My Goodness, Enthusiasts!

Hell in a Cell was certainly something.  It wasn’t the best something but it wasn’t all bad.  Nevertheless, it looks like a lot of fans didn’t care for it.  Numbers are generally down comment wise on Twitter, Reddit, Facebook and wherever else people like to post their opinions.  General consensus is showing that Sasha Banks and Bayley had the match of the night with Roman Reigns and Jey Uso coming up second. I was proud of Banks and Bayley.  They delivered hands down.  So nice to see them both evolve so impressively. As I keep saying, the women are underutilized. Hopefully, this showing gets them some more action.

As for Reigns and Jey, oi. I appreciate the attempt at telling a story but again, they leave themselves open to painting themselves into a corner. Is anyone going to reprimand Reigns for tossing a referee out of the match?  These sorts of loose ends are what undermine the credibility of these sorts of matches. It just gets ridiculous at some point. The addition of “The Elders” at the end could prove a saving grace. If La Familia Mysterio is any example, families appear to be going out and getting their respective boys and girls when they veer down a questionable path. Let’s hope they utilize this angle effectively. Reigns now under the instruction of The Elders, his overall behavior should be more under control, being an “official” Tribal Lead and all. Rikishi could complain too, giving The Elders more cause to enforce their influence. I could live with that. It formalizes the Bloodline making the concept all the more believable.

On a side note, I think the referee’s compassion in their match might have been a subtle dig at AEW.  Seeing how one of their refs left a man unconscious in the ring, this show of concern displays the WWE actually employs professionals. I don’t think anyone made a direct correlation but if that’s what that was about, cheeky.

The other big move was the Money in the Bank contract going to The Miz and a Tucker heel turn.  Personally, this comes off lazy.  Why couldn’t the MITB contract be used for a Tag Team Championship?  Is that just too obvious because the only real contender is The New Day? So, having Otis and Tucker wade in the mid-card field is better? What I’m getting at is that WWE is giving themselves the work of selling all this. The Miz isn’t taken that seriously so, him cashing in on somebody isn’t bound to last.  Yet, he could be fun to watch as he DQ’s out of every match just to keep the title. He’s one of the few people on the roster with the stage presence to make that work. My main point here is that this has “destined to fail” written all over it. We’ll see if WWE or these poor wrestlers have any good ideas.

As for the rest of it, well, I’m not upset about Randy Orton taking the title for the umpteenth time but people appear to be bent out of shape. Well, who knows, they may have the rematch tonight just to appease people.  Wouldn’t be surprised.  All these change-ups, it’s hard to say what the game plan is. People are already speculating The Rock and Reigns at WrestleMania and if you ask me, that continues to be a stupid move at present. Just look at Hell in a Cell. That expectation is just a bad match waiting to happen. The way it’s going, it would just be a set up for Reigns to get his ass beat. If he still has the title at the time, what’s the point of that? Let them flesh that out on better terms. I’m for it only under a proper set-up and that’s just asking too much from them at the moment. When it comes to Orton, people are speculating a showdown with Edge once he’s healthy. As much as I wouldn’t mind it, they’re already doing what they usually do and are hitting repeat on an old idea. Maybe Keith Lee could be thrown into the mix to make it interesting.  Don’t know if it amounts to a good match but at least it’s not the same ole thing. Bray Wyatt/The Fiend may be the more likely option but again, the question is how to sell it. Orton doesn’t seem like someone who’d buy The Fiend. Perhaps this would force a showdown with the original Bray Wyatt. It’s all hard to say.  Guess it’s best to just see what they do with RAW first.

So, for all those who still remain, RAW’s fallout show advertises Asuka needing a new contender so we can get on with the matches. The Miz is going to do his first teases of cashing in. And Drew McIntyre is going to contemplate next steps after his defeat. Watch if only out of curiosity. I still get my action and fodder for shit talk so, I haven’t lost my patience yet but man oh man, they make watching tough sometimes. Funny tweets get retweeted and as for Likes/Favorites, talk about seeing what we get. This could be a great night for ridicule. I’d say don’t hold back. Since there’s no audience, we have to be more vocal than ever so that true disapproval registers. Given Hell in a Cell, a person could conjecture they’re flying blind.  Let’s see if we can guide them towards land.

See You in a Bit,
