SmackDown Has Much to Consider Prior to MITB...

A Good Friday to You, Enthusiasts.

I hope it finds you well. So, there’s quite a bit to talk about in the wrestling world this week. Let’s not dally, shall we.

The first matter of business, Aleister now Malakai Black is now All Elite. Well, when I first saw this I was a bit downhearted but now I feel this is a new beginning across the board. Why, you ask? Well, it’s simple. The move has caught the wrestling world’s attention and with WWE’s numbers going in the wrong direction and apparently out of ideas, they now have no choice but to prove they’re the promotion to beat. What’s interesting is that they may have already beaten themselves. I’ve said before how AEW is nothing but an amalgamation of all WWE’s failures. Black is yet another example. What they may not realize is that this obvious truth could serve as proof that WWE lost its own script some time back. If they’re nothing but a revolving door, we shouldn’t expect much from them. Somewhere in that organization, someone thinks everyone else is the problem. This person or these people aren’t owning up to the fact that they have no good ideas. That doesn’t mean they don’t have talent to work with. This oversight apparently in place, WWE may inadvertently place the “crown” on AEW’s head. We’ll see if they realize if/when that happens.

Some would say that it already has but I wouldn’t go so far just yet. I still have a hard time sitting through all of an AEW show. Though RAW, is definitely in the crapper, it’s still fun to ridicule. Since AEW is still quite young, I don’t feel it’s right to ridicule them just yet. They have to establish themselves first but, in the end, many of us may split our time between the 2 promotions. I have to say I’m curious to see what Black does so that means I may have to watch AEW but at the same time, I don’t really want to watch more wrestling. So, that leaves AEW Dynamite, not sure I’ll care about Rampage and SmackDown because at the moment, who needs RAW? So, depending on how things go, I may focus on Wednesdays and Fridays in the future as opposed to Mondays and Fridays. We shall see.

The other big news is that Jimmy Uso got himself arrested on a DUI again this past holiday weekend. Anyone think this might be a work? I’m just saying, we know it’s par for his course but is there the possibility that WWE is playing with kayfabe? I’m just putting it out there. If not, then I agree with the general consensus and hope he seeks some sort of help getting himself under control. It’s been a couple years so, one could blame it on the holiday but at the same time, it is becoming a bit of a running joke. People aren’t as willing to write it off as scamp-ish behavior nowadays. Many are calling for rehab. I’m not sure if it requires all that. If this was the 2nd time in like, 3 months then yeah, he needs to check-in to somewhere. This sounds more like someone needs to hide his keys come a 3-day weekend. He’s likely to feel like taking a drive and getting arrested at some point.

The other biggie is Bayley’s injury. Not sure what happened but she hurt something major and is projected to be out for 9 months. That’s just too bad. I like everyone else, wish her a speedy recovery. The question now becomes, who takes her place? Early reports point to NXT.

So, that brings us to tonight’s SmackDown. Ultimately, we wait to see how the Jimmy Uso situation is handled. Also, we see if Edge is around for Roman Reigns to have “words” with. Seth Rollins and Cesaro will continue to not like each other much. Sonya DeVille is going to get someone else to face Bianca BelAir and Baron Corbin and Shinsuke Nakamura continue to dance in circles. WWE likes learning the hard way. I said that letting Aleister/Malakai Black go would be suicide. So far, it’s looking more like they shot off a toe. We’ll see if they bleed out in the end. Funny tweets and Likes get retweeted. Let’s see if SmackDown allows us to mine some gems.

See You in a Bit,

-Nicole Alexis (^_~)
