SmackDown Does Double-Duty Prior to Elimination Chamber...

Happy Friday, Enthusiasts!

I hope it’s been a good one for you. I’m ready for this week to be over. There’s not all that much to chat about but there’s some interesting news floating about. Let’s kick it around a bit, shall we.

So, let’s start with AEW. Word is a lot of 2019 contracts are up soon. AEW will have to make decisions as to whether to let some go or to renew. What’s interesting here is if they get heat for letting contracts expire. WWE was never known for its tact. Will AEW be more gracious as they let some discover new endeavors? We shall see.

Yet, the big AEW acquisition is Keith Lee. I kinda figured since he just got married. Most wouldn’t plan a wedding with no income coming in. Not that he didn’t do well while in WWE but when times are lean, tying the knot often takes a backseat. He had some sort of assurance.

What stuck out to me was that it looks like Lee gained weight. Now, I don’t ever expect him to get ripped or significantly slim down it’s just what I saw, didn’t appear to be an improvement. I know WWE didn’t have the best gameplan for him but he was at least trimming up. These sorts of things are what I feel led to his release.

If Lee is Limitless, he can’t lumber about the ring. Much of his hype revolved around his “big man” agility. I was never that impressed but I like him and see how he is a person that most wouldn’t want to negotiate. The task for him now is to prove he hasn’t missed a step and can perform a stellar match. Do that on the reg. and WWE may regret the decision. Plod around and have so-so matches and they’ll look like they were right to cut him. We’ll see what he does.

Another interesting tidbit is word is that WWE has interest in Jade Cargill. I can see why but from what I last witnessed, she needs some work on the mic. Not that she can’t improve but she didn’t seem a polished product, but the potential is undeniable. The question becomes will WWE take the time with her to make her work. The second question is do they know how to make a person work anymore. Did they ever? Their recent track record have them tanking those with potential. Should she risk the jump is a real concern. Until WWE establishes a better base to work from, I’m not sure switching teams would benefit her. Yet, if she continues to polish her act in AEW and WWE works towards finding the sweet spot again, they may be able to do each other great favors. Only time will tell.

And so, that brings us to tonight’s SmackDown. It’s the last of No-Man’s Land and they’re busy tonight because they gotta get 2 shows in so they can travel to Saudi Arabia. They’re giving Naomi a chance since she’s got seniority and Bloodline affiliation on her side. We’ll see if that’s any help against Charlotte. And Natalya continues to break Aliyah in. Goldberg and Ronda Rousey are supposed to be around too. Let’s see if they can make their stints interesting. Funny tweets and Likes get retweeted. Remain open. It’s on them to earn our time but don’t make up your mind before they take a swing at it.

See You in a Bit,

-Nicole Alexis (^_~)
